First passage times for some classes of fractional time-changed diffusions
No full textWe consider some time-changed diffusion processes obtained by applying the Doob transformation rule to a time-changed Brownian motion. The time-change is obtained via the inverse of an α-stable subordinator. These processes are specified in terms of time-changed Gauss-Markov processes and fractional time-changed diffusions. A fractional pseudo-Fokker-Planck equation for such processes is given. We investigate their first passage time densities providing a generalized integral equation they satisfy and some transformation rules. First passage time densities for time-changed Brownian motion and Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes are provided in several forms. Connections with closed form results and numerical evaluations through the level zero are given

No full textIl commento si sofferma sulle questioni di maggior rilievo derivanti dalla sent. n. 70/2015 della Corte costituzionale, con la quale è stata dichiarata l’illegittimità della disciplina che, per gli anni 2012 e 2013, bloccava la rivalutazione delle pensioni superiori a tre volte il minimo. In particolare, si mette in evidenza come tale sentenza segua un criterio significativamente diverso da quello che era stato utilizzato nella sent. n. 10/2015, dando luogo a qualche difficoltà dal punto di vista della coerenza e della prevedibilità della giurisprudenza costituzionale in tema di norme rilevanti per l’equilibrio finanziario pubblico
The time-changed stochastic approach and fractionally integrated processes to model the actin-myosin interaction and dwell times
No full textWe propose two stochastic models for the interaction between the myosin head and the actin filament, the physio-chemical mechanism triggering muscle contraction and that is not yet completely understood. We make use of the fractional calculus approach with the purpose of constructing non-Markov processes for models with memory. A time-changed process and a fractionally integrated process are proposed for the two models. Each of these includes memory effects in a different way. We describe such features from a theoretical point of view and with simulations of sample paths. Mean functions and covariances are provided, considering constant and time-dependent tilting forces by which effects of external loads are included. The investigation of the dwell time of such phenomenon is carried out by means of density estimations of the first exit time (FET) of the processes from a strip; this mimics the times of the Steps of the myosin head during the sliding movement outside a potential well due to the interaction with actin. For the case of time-changed diffusion process, we specify an equation for the probability density function of the FET from a strip. The schemes of two simulation algorithms are provided and performed. Some numerical and simulation results are given and discussed
Monitoring the patient following radio-cephalic arteriovenous fistula creation: Current perspectives
No full textAutogenous radial–cephalic direct wrist arteriovenous fistula (RC-AVF) in the non-dominant arm is the gold standard for dialysis vascular access. However, the RC-AVF non-maturation rate is significant (≃ 40%) due to an increasingly elderly and comorbid population incidence. A detailed identification of the biological cascade underlying arteriovenous fistula (AVF) maturation could be the key to clinical research aimed at identify the group of patients at risk of primary AVF failure. Currently, careful post-operative monitoring remains the most crucial aspect to overcome the problem of impaired maturation. Up to 80% of patients with immature RC-AVF have problems potentially solvable with early endovascular or surgical correction. Physical examination by experienced practitioners in conjunction with duplex ultrasound examination (DUS) can identify physical signs of non-maturation, understand the underlying cause, and drive for a tailored early planning to treat the complication. New approaches for the early assessment of AVF maturation are under study. Techniques to promote RC-AVF maturation performed through the administration of pre-or peri-operative drugs have missed up to now to prove an efficacy in improving fistula success. The new techniques tested after surgery appear to hold future promise for improving fistula maturation
Le Province tra norme costituzionali e prospettive di riforma
No full textNella consapevolezza dei perduranti tentativi di riforma, anche costituzionale, della disciplina delle Province,
lo scritto si propone di fornire una panoramica delle garanzie di cui tali enti sono titolari in base alle
disposizioni della Costituzione attualmente vigenti.
In particolare, dall’esame delle attribuzioni poste in capo alla Provincia (e condivise, in buona parte, con gli
altri enti locali) emerge – anche dopo la revisione costituzionale del 2001 – un suo ruolo funzionale assistito
da tutele, nel complesso, piuttosto “deboli” e per diversi aspetti soggette alla mediazione legislativa. A
conferma di ciò, si dà conto della più recente giurisprudenza costituzionale in materia che, nella sent. n.
220/2013, ha fatto riferimento alla legge quale strumento idoneo ad incidere, anche nel profondo,
sull’assetto delle competenze provinciali.
Successivamente, si mostra come le garanzie più stringenti, per l’ente provinciale, siano ravvisabili nella
protezione costituzionale della sua dimensione territoriale, rispetto alla quale la legge va incontro a limiti, se
non altro di carattere procedimentale, più penetranti.
Infine, vengono svolte alcune considerazioni critiche in ordine sia al “salvataggio” operato dalla Corte di taluni
aspetti della normazione primaria in tema di commissariamento delle Province, sia alla mancanza di
complessiva linearità nelle più recenti proposte governative di riforma
