No full textAbstract: This paper provides a first overview on music therapy research in Austria, Germany and Switzerland as given by the heads of the different universities in December 2012. For material collection three questions were sent to all university training course leaders. They were asked about a list of all research projects in the resp. university including MA and PhD thesis – to summarize past and ongoing research projects – to name ongoing and future research projects in cooperation with other institutions, universities or clinics.

No full textMonika Nöcker-Ribaupierre directs a private music therapy training programme in Munich (acknowledged by the German professional association BVM ), lectures at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich, and is an active member of several professional scientific boards. Her main interest lies in the development of professi- onal music therapy programmes and standards in the European countries. As Secretary General of the EMTC she is working in particular to support countries in the Eastern part of Europe, to establish music therapy at the required Bologna level. - Why am I talking about our culture of experiential music therapy training (EMT) in our training courses in Germany? The Effectiveness of Music Therapy Intervention Viewed from a Developmental Neurobiology Perspective
No full textIn diesem Beitrag geht es um den Wert und die Nutzbarkeit neurobiologischer Erkenntnisse als mögliche Hilfen für das Verständnis der Wirksamkeit musiktherapeutischer Interventionen. Beschrieben werden die Reifungsschritte des auditiven Systems, die neuronale Verankerung auditiver Erfahrungen sowie deren Verkoppelung mit anderen Sinnesorganen und übergeordneten Strukturen. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei die Frage, wie neuronale Beziehungsmuster entstehen, wie Musikerfahrungen im Gehirn verankert und mit anderen Erfahrungen verknüpft werden. Auf dieser Grundlage wird anschließend herausgearbeitet, wie die Fähigkeit Beziehungen herzustellen biologisch von Anbeginn des Lebens verankert wird. Über die fundamentale Bedeutung von Beziehungserfahrungen werden die Möglichkeiten beleuchtet, die der Musik in der Therapie zukommt. Dabei wird versucht, einen Zusammenhang herzustellen zwischen der therapeutischen Wirkung von Musik und der Reaktivierung und Stabilisierung früh angelegter und ganzheitlich organisierter Beziehungsmuster, den sog. Gestaltphänomenen.This study explores the value and application of neurobiological evidence as a tool in understanding the effectiveness of music therapy intervention. The developmental stages of the auditory system are described, as well as the neural anchoring of auditive experiences, and their interconnectedness to other sensory organs and more complex neurological processes. The main focus of this paper is exploration of the influence of relationship on brain structure, from an interpersonal as well as musical perspective. Drawing upon this evidence, thought is given as to how the ability to form relationships is biologically anchored from the very onset of life. The potential of music in therapy is illustrated, based on the fundamental significance of relationship experiences. An attempt is then made in making a connection between the therapeutic effect of music and the reactivation and stabilization of early acquired and holistically organized relationship patterns, so-called “gestalt-phenomena”.peerReviewedpublishedVersio
