Fathers' perspectives: a qualitative approach to understanding the experiences of fathers of children in special education
No full textThere has been a growing interest in understanding and increasing father involvement in their child's education. Ongoing research has documented the positive effects of father involvement; however, fathers continue to feel disconnected from their child's school and educational program. Not surprisingly, research has indicated that fathers of children in special education are also underutilized by school practitioners. Rather than reaching out to both parents, school personnel continue to disregard fathers and rely predominately on the child's mother. Because federal policy mandates parent collaboration on special education teams, there is a need for special education personnel to begin reaching out to fathers in order to increase their involvement in the process. In this study, in-depth qualitative interviews were conducted with fathers of children in special education to better understand their involvement in the process. This study examines their experiences engaging with school personnel and their perspectives on their roles in their child's special education program. Their emotional reactions to the process are examined within the in-depth data providing a rich description of their experiences. Findings indicate that the fathers in this study are strong advocates for their children and are very concerned for their children's education. In addition, the fathers want to be included more often and to be seen as equal partners in their child's special education program. Furthermore, these fathers offered recommendations for special education personnel to better facilitate the involvement of fathers. Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are instrumental in bringing public awareness to the existence of abuse. NGOs have a role to set the agenda for government and to identify key human rights issues. Through research, conducted on behalf of intergovernmental organizations (IGOs), governmental bodies or delegations, NGOs help enforce laws as the research conducted enables the state to focus on enforcement. The remedial gap in Third World states regarding corporate-related human rights abuse has not deterred NGOs from seeking justice. South Africa is used as a case study to highlight the role of NGOs in the country and their relevance to the African continent. The US Alien Tort Statute (ATS) is a piece of legislation that has transformed into a powerful tool in which perpetrators of human rights violation are held accountable under tort law

No full textThe overall objective of the "Creating an Oregon Green Bean Awareness Campaign" project is to educate regional consumers, culinary professionals, retailers and distributors about the history and sensory quality of Oregon green beans and their value and use as a local frozen vegetable. This project will describe the unique historical and cultural story of green beans in Oregon; promote the culinarily attributes of frozen Blue Lake green beans through professionally developed cooking tips and recipes; and execute an Oregon Green Bean campaign to engage consumers, culinary professionals, retailers and distributors through various communication channels. Ayrımcılıkla mücadele konusunda Birleşmiş Milletler, Avrupa Konseyi, Avrupa Birliği ve diğer bölgesel örgütler nezdinde çok sayıda uluslararası sözleşme bulunmaktadır. Toplumsal ilişkiler geliştikçe farklı ayrımcılık temelleri ve ayrımcılık türleri ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bu nedenle ayrımcılıkla mücadelenin birtakım siyasi zorluklarına rağmen, yargı organları tarafından dinamik bir hukuk anlayışıyla ele alınması gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmada, ayrımcılıkla mücadele ve ayrımcılık yasağı konuları hukuki ve siyasi yönleriyle ele alınmaktadır.The issue of fight against discrimination stands as an important human rights problem in Turkey as in other modern democracies. There are numerous conventions in the field of non-discrimination within the framework of the United Nations, Council of Europe, European Union and other regional organisations. As social relations develop through time, there appear different grounds and types of discrimination. Therefore, judicial authorities should take part in the fight against discrimination with a dynamic legal approach despite political setbacks. No full textKarakul, Selman (Dogus Author)Avrupa'da bütünleşme süreci hakkında ileri sürülen teorik görüşler ve bütünleşmenin tarihsel gelişimi, Avrupa Birliği'nin (AB veya Birlik) bugünkü konumunun çözümlenmesinde önemli veriler sağlamaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Lizbon Antlaşması sonrasında Avrupa'nın bütünleşme sorunu ve Türkiye'nin AB içindeki konumu incelenmektedir. Avrupa' da bütünleşme süreci incelenirken, demokratik meşruiyet ve demokrasi açığı sorunları ile Avrupa kültürel kimliğinin gelişimi konuları da ele alınmaktadır. Sonuçta, Avrupa' da bütünleşme teorileri içinde fazla taraftar bulamasa da, yeni federalist görüşün hakim olması halinde Türkiye'nin AB'ye tam üyeliğinin güçleşeceği, hükümetler arası farklılıklara dayalı çoğulcu bir Avrupa bütünleşmesinin benimsenmesi durumunda ise Türkiye'nin AB üyeliği ihtimalinin güçleneceği iddia edilmektedir.The theoretical observations made in relation to the European integralion process and the historical progress of the integration both provide important information for analysing the current situation of the European Union (EU or the Union). This paper examines the issue of the European integration after the Lisbon Treaty and the position of Turkey within the EU In analysing the European integration process, the issues of democratic legitimacy and democratic deficit and the development of European cultural identity are also discussed. Finally, it is argued that if the new federalist approach -despite the lack of enough support- prevails, Turkey's full membership to the EU will be difficult, on the contrary, if a more pluralistic European integration based on intergovernmental diversity is adopted, the possibility of Turkey's EU membership will be enhanced

The domestic demand for this type of material is normally supplied in large part from Germany and Scandinavia, but since those sources have been cut off there has been renewed interest in our local peat deposits. The report on peat written by Dr. Selman A. Waksman of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station is therefore of timely aid in meeting the demand for detailed information which has arisen concerning these deposits.

No full textİş hayatı ortalama bir insan yaşamının önemli bir kısmını kapsamaktadır. İş yaşamında kişinin mutlu ve huzurlu bir şekilde çalışması çok önemlidir. Çalışanların mutlu ve huzurlu çalışmaları için yaptıkları işten tatmin olmaları gerekmektedir. Bir işletmenin varlığını sürdürülebilir kılması, iş göreninde verimli ve performansı yüksek çalışabilmesi için yaptığı işten tatmin olması gerekmektedir. İş tatmini kavramı çalışanların bağlı oldukları organizasyon içerisinde kendilerine daha önceden tanımlanmış olan işleri görürken beklentilerine ne kadar cevap verdiğini açıklayan bir kavramdır. Literatür tarandığında iş tatmininin başta hizmet sektörü olmak üzere birçok araştırmaya konu edildiği görülmüştür. Bu araştırmanın evrenini Zonguldak ili içerisinde faaliyet gösteren özel maden işletmeleri çalışanları oluşturmaktadır. İl ve bölge ekonomisi için önemli bir yer edinmiş olmalarından dolayı madencilerin iş tatmininin ölçülmesine ilişkin bir araştırma yapılması ihtiyacı hissedilmiştir. Araştırma da veri toplama aracı olarak anket yöntemi seçilmiştir. Minesota İş Tatmin Ölçeği' nin kısa formu olan 20 soruluk anket ve örneklemin demografik bilgilerinin de toplandığı sorular deneklere yöneltilmiştir. Bu çalışma 4 ana bölümden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmanın ilk bölümünde iş tatmini kavramı üzerine literatürde yapılan tanımsal değerlendirmeler, iş tatminin önemi ve faktörleri üzerinde durulmuştur. İkinci bölümde iş tatmini ile ilişkili kuramlar açıklanmıştır. Takip eden bölümlerde ise iş tatmininin ölçümü amacıyla kullanılan ölçekler, iş tatminini ve tatminsizliğin sonuçları ele alınmıştır. Son bölümde ise yapılan istatistiksel analizler ve bu analizlerden elde edilen veriler yorumlanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler SPSS 2023 paket programında analiz edilerek sonuç ve değerlendirme kısmı ortaya konularak araştırma tamamlanmıştır.Work life covers a significant part of the average person's life. It is very important for a person to work happily and peacefully in business life. In order for the employees to work happily and peacefully, they must be satisfied with their work. In order for an enterprise to make its existence sustainable and to work efficiently and with high performance, it is necessary for the employee to be satisfied with his work. The concept of job satisfaction is a concept that explains how well the employees respond to their expectations when they see the jobs that have been previously defined for them in the organization they are affiliated with. When the literature is scanned, it has been seen that job satisfaction has been the subject of many researches, especially in the service sector. The universe of this research consists of employees of private mining enterprises operating in Zonguldak province. Since they have gained an important place for the economy of the province and the region, it was felt the need to conduct a research on the measurement of job satisfaction of miners. The survey method was chosen as the data collection tool in the research. A 20-question questionnaire, which is the short form of the Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale, and the questions in which the demographic information of the sample were collected were directed to the subjects. This study consists of 4 main parts. In the first part of the research, the definitional evaluations made in the literature on the concept of job satisfaction, the importance of job satisfaction and its factors are emphasized. In the second part, theories related to job satisfaction are explained. In the following sections, the scales used to measure job satisfaction, job satisfaction and the results of dissatisfaction are discussed. In the last part, the statistical analyzes and the data obtained from these analyzes are interpreted. The data obtained were analyzed in the SPSS 2023 program and the research was completed by revealing the conclusion and evaluation part

Ekonomik ve sosyal hakların korunması , diğer uluslararası ve bölgesel örgütlerde olduğu gibi, Avrupa Konseyi 'nde de ayrı bir sözleşme ve koruma mekanizmasıyla gerçekleştirilmek istenmiştir. Ancak, insan haklarının bölgesel korunması konusunda en etkili ve tecrübeli mekanizma olan Avrupa İnsan Hakları Mahkemesi (AİHM), kararları yoluyla, mevcut kişisel ve siyasal hakların , ekonomik ve sosyal görünümleri olabileceğini ortaya koymuştur. AİHM kararları incelendiğinde, Mahkeme'nin yalnızca kişisel ve siyasal hakları değil , aynı zamanda ekonomik ve sosyal hakları da konu bakımından yetki alanına dahil ettiği görülmektedir. Bu çalışmada, AİHS ve Ek Protokollerde açıkça güvenceye alınmadığı halde, AİHM kararlarıyla geliştirilen sağlık hakkı , çalışma ve sosyal güvenlik hakları gibi haklar ile AİHS 'de güvenceye alınan sendikal haklar ve eğitim hakkı gibi haklara Strasbourg organlarının kararları çerçevesinde değinilmektedir.The European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) does not include economic and social rights aside from a few exceptions. lt was intended to protect economic and social rights under a separate convention and protection mechanism within the Council of Europe as carried out by other international and regional organisations. Nevertheless, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) the most influential and competent regional human rights protection mechanism indicated that existing civil and political rights may have some economic and social aspects. As can be seen from the case-law of the ECtHR, the Court 's ratione materiae jurisdiction comprises not only civil and political rights but economic and social rights as well. In this paper, the rights such as the right to health and the rights to work and social security developed by the case-law of the Court and the rights such as the union rights and the right to education protected by the ECHR are dealt with with the framework of the decisions of the Strasbourg organs
