ÇİN SOSYOLOJİSİNİN DOĞUŞU, GELİŞİMİ, KURUMSALLAŞMASI VE ANA EĞİLİMLERİ
No full textBu makalenin ana konusu, Çin sosyolojisinin ortaya çıkışını, kurumsallaşmasını, gelişimini, temel eğilimlerini ve sorunlarını incelemektir. Çin, dünyanın en eski uygarlıklarından birisi olmasına ve uzun bir tarihsel geçmişe sahip olmasına rağmen 19. yüzyıla kadar sosyoloji alanında önemli çalışmalar yapan bir ülke olmamıştır. Çin, kendine has bir felsefesi olmasına rağmen aynı başarıyı sosyoloji alanında gösterememiştir. Çin’de sosyoloji, modernleşme süreciyle ilişkili olarak ortaya çıkmış ve gelişmiştir. Bu süreç içerisinde Çin sosyolojisi, sosyolojinin kurucularından Herbert Spencer ve Émile Durkheim sosyolojisini esas almıştır. Makalemizde 1950’lere gelindiğinde Çin sosyolojisinin Spencer’ın ve Durkheim’ın görüşlerinden hızlıca uzaklaştığı tespit edilmiştir. Çünkü Çin toplumunda 1940’ların sonunda köklü bir değişme olmuştur. 1940’ların sonunda Mao Zedong’un öncülüğünde komünist devrim gerçekleşmiştir. Bu makalede, Çin’in sosyal yapısını köklü bir şekilde değiştiren komünist devrimle beraber Çin sosyolojisinin Marxist sosyolojiyi önemsediğine vurgu yapılmıştır. 1970’lerin sonundan itibaren Çin dünyaya açılmıştır. Çin sosyolojisi bu dönemden itibaren Amerikan sosyolojisini model almış ve Amerikan sosyolojisindeki gelişmeleri takip etmiştir. Çin sosyolojisi, 1980’lerden itibaren Amerikan sosyolojisinde etkili olan empirik sosyolojiye yönelmiştir. Çin sosyolojisi, Marxist sosyolojiden tamamen uzaklaşarak empirik sosyoloji araştırmaları yoğunlaşmıştır. Çinli sosyologlar, 1980’lerden itibaren çok sayıda saha çalışması yapmışlardır. Makalemizde Çin sosyolojisinin 19. yüzyılın sonundan günümüze kadar kendine özgü bir sosyoloji çizgisi oluşturamadığı, Batı’da ortaya çıkan sosyoloji geleneklerinden etkilendiği iddia edilmiştir

No full textBu tezin ana konusu, Türk sosyolojisi için önemli bir isim olan Orhan
Türkdoğan’ın temel sosyolojik fikirlerini incelemektir. Türkdoğan, Türk toplumunun
yapısına, tarihine ve temel sorunlarına yoğunlaşmış bir sosyoloğumuz olduğu için onun
sosyolojik düşüncelerinin araştırılması önem arz etmektedir.
Tezimizin ilk bölümünde, Türkdoğan’ın hayatına, eserlerine ve etkilendiği
kişilere yer verilmiştir. İkinci bölümde, Türkdoğan’ın metot anlayışından
bahsedilmiştir. Türkdoğan, Türk toplumunun tarihini, sosyal yapısını ve ana sorunlarını
incelerken sosyolojik metodolojide birbirine eleştirel yaklaşan pozitivist metodu ve
hermeneutik metodu önemsemiştir. Ayrıca Türkdoğan, metodolojisinde tarihsel
analizlere de önem vermiştir. Bu bağlamda, Türkiye’nin sosyal gerçekliğini ve
problemlerini tahlil ederken Türk tarihine yönelmiştir. Türk toplumunun sorunlarının
temellerini tarihte aramıştır. Bu yüzden tezimizin üçüncü bölümünde Türkdoğan’ın,
Türk tarihine yönelik görüşlerine yer verilmiştir. Türkdoğan, sosyolojik analizlerinde
Türk tarihini önemsemiş ve onu İslamiyet öncesi, İslamiyet Sonrası (Osmanlı
İmparatorluğu Dönemi) ve Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin kuruluş dönemi olmak üzere üç
ana dönemde incelemiştir. Türkdoğan, söz konusu bu üç temel dönemin toplumsal
yapımızı şekillendirdiğini iddia etmiştir. Bu çerçevede, onun Türk toplumunda ana
sosyal kurumlarına ilişkin görüşleri incelenmiştir. Tezimizin beşinci ve son bölümünde,
Türkdoğan’ın, Türkiye’nin sosyal problemlerine yönelik görüşleri tahlil edilmiştir.
Günümüzde Türkdoğan, Türk toplumunun temel meselelerini etniklik ve azınlık, Doğu
Anadolu Bölgesi ve Güneydoğu Anadolu Bölgesi’nin kalkınması, köyün yapısının
tahrip edilmesi, varoş kültürü, zenginlik kültürü, küreselleşme, Türkiye-Avrupa Birliği
ilişkileri, terör-şiddet olayları ve üniversitelerdeki siyasal radikalleşme olarak
belirlemiştir. Türk sosyolojisinde milliyetçi-muhafazakâr çizgiyi benimsemiş olan
Türkdoğan, söz konusu ana sorunlarımıza milliyetçi bakış açısıyla çözüm yolları
üretmeye gayret etmiştir. Türkdoğan, Türk toplumunun sosyal bütünleşmesine önem
vermiştir. Türkiye’de milli kimliğin ve milli kültürün önemine dikkat çekmiştir. Türk
toplumunun gelişmesi, ilerlemesi ve kalkınması için öneriler sunmuştur.The main subject of this thesis is to examine the basic sociological ideas of
Orhan Türkdoğan, an important name for Turkish sociology. Since Türkdoğan is a
sociologist focused on the structure, history and basic problems of Turkish society, it is
important to investigate his sociological thoughts.
In the first part of our thesis, Türkdoğan's life, works and the people he was
influenced by are included. In the second part, Türkdoğan's understanding of method is
mentioned. While examining the history, social structure and main problems of Turkish
society, Türkdoğan gave importance to the positivist method and hermeneutic method,
which approach each other critically in sociological methodology. In addition,
Türkdoğan gave importance to historical analysis in his methodology. In this context, he
turned to Turkish history while analyzing Turkey's social reality and problems. He
sought the foundations of the problems of Turkish society in history. Therefore, in the
third part of our thesis, Türkdoğan's views on Turkish history are included. Türkdoğan
gave importance to Turkish history in his sociological analysis and examined it in three
main periods: pre-Islamic, Post-Islamic (Ottoman Empire Period) and the founding
period of the Turkish Republic. Türkdoğan claimed that these three basic periods shape
our social structure. In this framework, his views on the main social institutions in
Turkish society were examined. In the fifth and last part of our thesis, Türkdoğan's
views on Turkey's social problems are analyzed. Today, Türkdoğan addresses the main
issues of Turkish society as ethnicity and minority, the development of the Eastern
Anatolia Region and Southeastern Anatolia Region, the destruction of the village
structure, suburban culture, culture of wealth, globalization, Turkey-EU relations,
terrorism-violence and political radicalization in universities has determined.
Türkdoğan, who has adopted the nationalist-conservative line in Turkish sociology, has
tried to produce solutions to our main problems with a nationalist perspective.
Türkdoğan gave importance to the social integration of Turkish society. He drew
attention to the importance of national identity and national culture in Turkey. He
offered suggestions for the development, progress and development of Turkish society
Analysis of Environmental Documentaries on Netflix in terms of Environmental Discourses
No full textThe purpose of this study is to analyze the environmental discourses in environment-themed documentaries available on the Netflix platform. In this article, seven documentaries were examined through discourse analysis, and the discourses present in these documentaries were identified. According to the analysis, three main discourses were found: the Ecosystem Discourse, the Arcadian Discourse and Environmental Justice Discourse. In Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret, it is emphasized that organizations claiming to protect nature disregard scientific data. Kiss the Ground focuses on human-induced environmental degradation and efforts to address environmental issues. Breaking Boundaries: The Science of Our Planet indicates that humanity has already exceeded the critical thresholds for sustaining life on Earth. In David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet, attention is drawn to the fact that the planet can exist independently of humans. The Bubble: A Reef Revived underlines the perfection of the world’s micro-level systems. Brave Blue World illustrates the global water crisis and explains how its effects differ based on socio-economic statuses. Lastly, Youth v Gov focuses on the varying impacts of the global climate crisis across different regions

No full textSexual and gender minority (SGM) individuals often suffer from a myriad of stressors within their social environments due to stigma and its outcomes (Meyer, 2003). Conversely, social support may impact SGM individuals’ psychological resilience. To quantify the impact of their interpersonal environments, the current preregistered meta-analysis included 181 studies (N = 75,376) that reported associations between social support (i.e., family, peer, partner, school, work) and internalizing psychopathology (i.e., depression, anxiety, nonsuicidal self-injury, suicidality) among SGM samples. Overall, a small, negative association was observed, r = -.26, with depression’s associations being significantly larger than the other psychopathology categories, r = -.30. Smaller effects were observed for samples with a larger share of bisexual individuals and when a SGM-specific measure was used. Otherwise, the negative association between social support and psychopathology was robust to demographic factors (e.g., age, gender, % white), SGM identity (e.g., % gender minority), source of support, and levels of structural stigma. No evidence of publication bias was observed. This robust finding suggests that all forms of SGM social support are similarly and complimentarily associated with lower internalizing psychopathology
