    No full text
In this paper, we have defined First Zadeh's intuitionistic fuzzy conjunction and intuitionistic fuzzy disjunction of two intuitionistic fuzzy soft sets. The author also defined some of their basic properties of intuitionistic fuzzy disjunction and conjunction with some examples. Nithya. Developing Cropping Systems for Organic Grain Production in Texas

    No full text
Demand for organic products, including poultry and livestock, have increased over the past decade. With this increase in demand, an increased need for organic grain supply has developed. However, there is limited information currently available on organic production systems for grain production in Texas. Current practices for organic grain production in Texas rely on conventional tillage for weed control and manure application to meet crop N demand. Conservation tillage and use of cover crops are management practices that are expected to improve on current management practices and will be essential for sustainable production of organic grain. A two-year study was initiated in Burleson County, TX to evaluate four management practices for three grain crops in rotation in an organic management system. Management practices evaluated include different tillage practices and cover crops treatment combinations of legume no-till (LNT), double cover no-till (DCNT), and double cover conventional till (DCCT) compared to current practices (CP). Conventional tillage practices, with or without cover crops, produced better plant stands, greater biomass and leaf area for corn compared to corn planted into cover crop residue in the second year of the study. Both corn and grain sorghum grain yields were improved in one out of two years for CP compared to other management systems. Competition for resources (water, nutrient, light, etc.) by weeds and cover crops likely reduced grain yield. Cover crops, especially legume cover crops, as part of intensive rotations did improve N supply within the production system resulting in greater soil nitrate-N concentration after each year of organic management. However, logistics surrounding planting and terminating cover crops can pose problems within organic systems. Additional studies are needed to identify appropriate summer and winter cover crops species. Alternative tillage practices should be explored to improve crop establishment, especially when cover crops are present

SHIELD: Security based hybrid autonomous deep learning network for load balancing in cloud

    No full text
Load balancing in the Internet of Things (IoT) enhances the efficiency of the system by dynamically allocating tasks across devices and cloud resources. However, task scheduling struggles with unpredictable tasks, scalability, security risks, and unauthorized access control. To overcome these limitations, a novel security-based hybrid autonomous deep learning network for load balancing in cloud (SHIELD) framework has been proposed for secure task scheduling in cloud resources. Initially, the data received from the IoT devices is passed under certain security constraints to ensure the authenticity of the data. These privacy-preserved data are fed to the task scheduling module, which is employed by the dual DL Network to generate a schedule for resource management. Finally, cloud resources employ optimal allocation of tasks based on the generated schedule to ensure secure load balancing. The proposed framework is simulated by using Cloud Simulator 7G (CloudSim7G). The SHIELD framework is assessed by such metrics, including accuracy, recall, precision, F1-score, and specificity. In comparison, the proposed SHIELD framework achieves a privacy overhead of 14% outperforms the existing QODA-LB, Best-KFF, SPSO-TCS, and VMMISD techniques by achieving 10%, 11%, 12%, and 13% respectively

Does Outward Foreign Direct Investment Reduce Domestic Investment?: An Industry-Level Analysis

    No full text
With the rise of globalisation, countries have become more connected financially and global cross-border investment flows have become more common. FDI is an important form of cross-border flow which is responsible for the spread of technology across countries and is the main source of external finance for emerging countries. In the last two decades, FDI has increased tremendously. But this has been accompanied by fears about outward FDI taking away production activities and jobs away from the home country. I look at how outward FDI affects home country investment. One can intuitively understand that a dollar of money spent abroad means a dollar less to invest in the domestic economy. Based on the theory of the financially constrained firm, I hypothesize that outward FDI reduces domestic fixed capital investment and R&D spending. I also develop a theoretical framework to distinguish the varying effects of outward FDI on domestic investment across traditional and R&D-intensive industries.By using industry-level panel data for 18 OECD countries covering the period 1995-2009, I regressed the shares of Gross Fixed Capital Formation (GFCF) and R&D spending separately on the share of outward FDI both for all industries as well as specifically for traditional and R&D-intensive industries. While, outward FDI had a negative effect on domestic capital investments at the aggregate level, it did not have any significant effect while looking at specific industry types. This could be because of the reduced sample size in the individual types. Outward FDI had a negative effect on domestic R&D spending at the aggregate level and for R&D-intensive industries, but it had a positive effect for traditional industries. Thus, while fears about outward FDI taking away domestic fixed capital investments are valid, outward FDI can have both a positive and negative effect on R&D expenditure, depending on the type of industry. These results can help MNCs make strategic investment decisions taking into account their effect on their home country industry. It can also help policymakers formulate tax and industrial policies to promote home country investments.Management of Technology (MoT

Analysis of distribution of DNA methylation in kidney-renal-clear-cell-carcinoma specific genes using entropy

    No full text
AbstractDNA Methylation is an epigenetic phenomenon in which methyl groups are added to the cytosines, thereby altering the physio-chemical properties of the DNA region and influencing gene expression. Aberrant DNA methylation in a set of genes or across the genome results in many epigenetic diseases including cancer. In this paper, we use entropy to analyze the extent and distribution of DNA methylation in Tumor Suppressor Genes (TSG's) and Oncogenes related to a specific type of cancer (viz.) KIRC (Kidney-renal-clear-cell-carcinoma). We apply various mathematical transformations to enhance the different regions in DNA methylation distribution and compare the resultant entropies for healthy and tumor samples. We also obtain the sensitivity and specificity of classification for the different mathematical transformations. Our findings show that it is not just the measure of methylation, but the distribution of the methylation levels in the genes that are significant in cancer
