A study effect of specific absorption rate in human head model due to electromagnetic exposure
This study presents a numerical analysis of the specific absorption rate in the human head model due to electromagnetic exposure. A set of dipole antennas operating at 1800MHz and 2600MHz were located at the ear of human head model to investigate the effect of frequency on human head model. The maximum average of 1gram and 10gram of tissue have been presented to show the effect of the electromagnetic field in the human head model. A comparison of the mass averaged SAR in the head shows the 1g of SAR is quintuple at both 1800MHz and 2600MHz respectively
An optical measurement system for the analysis of bacteria in drain fluid
A post-Colon Surgery Optical Measurement Sensor for Early Detection of Bacteria KEY WORDS: Near-Infrared, Light Emitting Diodes, Photodiode, water absorption. PURPOSE: Bacteria detection after a colon surgery is an essential tool to prevent infection of the patient. With this aim we are developing an efficient miniaturized optical measurement sensor to detect bacteria in an early stage. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A near-IR Led emitting at a spectral range around 1950nm is driven by a pulsed current of 160 mA. This pulse is generated with 20% duty cycle and frequency of 400Hz. The optical intensity is detected by a Photodiode which is sensitive in the mid-IR spectral range from 800nm to 2400nm. Between the Led and Photodiode we place a sample holder which consists of 2 beta cells made of CaF2. The distance of the Led and Photodiode is 1 cm. The beta cells are 0.5cm thick each and the ring separator is 0.01cm thick. The generation of the photocurrent is converted to voltage with 100.000 amplification. This voltage output is signal processed by LabView software and the display is the monitor of a PC. The absorption by the biofluid material in the sample is related to the bacteria density. RESULTS: The sample that is used to imitate plasma is water with salt solution. We created an amount of liquid volume with equal distribution. The difference in peak-to-peak voltage measurement is measure of absorption that is caused by the content of the sample. CONCLUSION: This optical measurement system provides the ability to do an early bacteria detection real-time. Innovative Maritime Design Education at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences
The digital and energy transition will change our industry. To be prepared for this challenge, NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences puts quite some effort in developing new innovative courses and new types of digitally enabled education. An example is a new minor concentrated on engineering tools and methods that have emerged in the (construction) industry over the past decades. In addition, the school is also working on a game to educate an old trade: ship stability. In addition to the changes to the existing programs, a new level of education is introduced in the Netherlands, the Professional Doctorate. The Professional Doctorate is comparable to the PhD but focusses on practically applied research. All these changes and innovations to the current maritime education at NHL Stenden are elaborated upon in this paper. The paper concludes with an outlook to the future, based upon the results from a survey held under students and lecturers regarding their view on the future of maritime education. In courses of ship design and engineering the particulars of the profession are well-taught. However, driven by software and computer advancement, in the industry over the past decades new tools have emerged, such as optimization, geometric modelling, CFD, big data and machine learning. These tools have been considered too complex for an undergraduate program. Yet, some knowledge of this trade is essential on every professional level, and our proposition is that if the material is offered in a first-principle fashion, in combination with practical exercises and oral discussion, the heart of the matter can very well be educated to an undergraduate. A Convolutional Neural Network Developed to Predict Speed Using Operational Data
In the shipping industry power prediction methods are commonly used. An option is to predict the power based with a theoretical analysis. However, with a purely theoretical approach it is not possible to evaluate all operating conditions. The second, simulation methods, are able to describe all the necessary quantities in detail. Nonetheless, simulation requires relatively high computational power. Thus, the current power prediction methods used in the shipping industry are insufficiently all-encompassing or accessible. Therefore, a machine learning approach is developed to calculate the ships speed over ground using neural network and convolutional neural network techniques. For training and validation of the model operational data from a fall-pipe vessel is used. The developed method combined with ship motion could result in an optimal power usage, and thus leads to reduced fuel consumption and emissions. The method could also be used for optimised routing. Although in this case study applied to one single vessel, the developed model is generally applicable, providing ship management companies the possibility to train the model with operational data from their fleet, therewith, offering the possibility of reduced fuel consumption and thus emissions on a global level.Ship Design, Production and Operation
Modelling Maintenance – Cost Optimised Maintenance in Shipping
Most ship management companies base the operational cost calculation on scheduled maintenance jobs. Scheduled maintenance jobs do not take unforeseen maintenance into account. This under-estimates the operational budget. The estimation of the operational costs can be improved by including the unforeseen maintenance costs. The amount of unforeseen maintenance costs depends on the implemented maintenance policy, as well as the failure and maintenance intervals. To study this inter-action a model is required. A Maintenance Cost Model (MCM) is developed and validated to demon-strate the impact of maintenance policies at Anthony Veder. This model focuses on maintenance cost calculations for different maintenance policies, based on failure behaviour. Anthony Veder will be able to save 60% on average on maintenance costs of mechanical equipment by optimising their main-tenance policies. Although applied to Anthony Veder the developed model is generally applicable offering ship management companies’ insight in suitable maintenance options.Ship Design, Production and Operation
Characteristics of meat, pet, and research rabbit farms in Brazil: An overview based on twelve farms
[EN] Rabbit production has great growth potential in a country where animal production is very important. However, there is little data about this industry in Southern and Southeast Brazil. The aim of this study was to describe Brazilian rabbit farms that provide meat, pets and animals for learning or research. Three pet farms, four meat farms and five research rabbit farms were visited, and the production and farm characteristics data were collected between June 2018 and March 2019. A total of 1170 rabbits and 617 cages were evaluated. Most farms had 21 to 60 (58.3%) does. Considering all farms, the farmers reported an average rate of conception of 71.8%, prolificacy rate of 6.7 kits per parturition, average interval between parturitions of 65 d and 6.3 parturitions/doe yr. The mean mortality rate for breeding rabbits was 10.4%, compared to 1.7% for growing rabbits (rabbits post-weaning until slaughter or sale). The average area of a cage was 0.43±0.1 m², with an average stocking density for growing rabbits of 3 rabbits/m². The most common cage system used by farmers was a flat-deck (66.7% of farms) system with a wire cage (91.7%). Metal (41.7%) and clay (33.3%) feeders were the most common types of feeders, and automatic nipple drinkers were present in 75% of the farms. Dirt accumulation was observed in 11.2% of the cages and 5.7% of the drinkers, but not in feeders. A total of 4.1% of the cages were considered unsafe, and 0.8% had problems with the drinkers. The farms studied ranged from small to medium in size, used an extensive reproductive rhythm and followed basic production techniques. Church and state in religious education 1944-1984: a critical survey of trends in England from the point of view of the Christian parent with special reference to the Christian schools movement
At the end of the forty year period 1944-1984 a minority of Christian parents in England and Wales were expressing their disquiet at trends in Education in general, and Religious Education in particular. The five year research project 1979-1984 was primarily aimed at communicating their concept of events, and their aspirations, to those who, having had their attention drawn to the actions of the dissenting parents, wondered what sort of thinking inspired those actions. For those inclined to regard the parents as on the Christian fringe, evidence is presented to show that on the contrary they were mainly the orthodox, and in line with mainstream Christianity, as delineated by the historic creeds. The argument of this thesis is that the parents were a grass-roots reaction to a creeping revisionism that affected Christian thinking on education in the Protestant sector, but did not similarly affect the Roman Catholic sector

The diocese of Coventry and Lichfield, 1603-1642
This thesis investigates religious life among the clergy and laity in the diocese of
Lichfield, 1603-1642, including the role of Puritans, Catholics and Church
Papists. Nicholas Tyacke has maintained that the implementation of Laudianism
in Charles I's reign proved contentious, an interpretation criticised by some
historians who aver that the Church continued to maintain a 'middle way'. This
study finds that the evidence from the diocese largely supports Tyacke's
interpretation.
Proto-Laudian reforms were implemented in the see some years before the
Laudian ascendancy through the episcopates of Neile and Overall. Every bishop
in the period who undertook a programme of reform met local hostility and
indifference, and sometimes the opposition of his ecclesiastical and lay superiors.
Every religious group underwent change and development. Puritans and
Catholics pursued strategies for survival, supported by their respective religious
networks. Official opposition often had the effect of strengthening their resolve
and confirming them in their beliefs. Local conformists' commitment to the
established Church deepened during this period. They respected the Church's role
as the official purveyor of religion, morality and the ecclesiastical rites of passage,
without evidencing much theological understanding.
In the 1630s Bishop Wright oversaw the Laudian programme of
sacramental, sacerdotal and liturgical reform, but his lack of organisation, zeal and
commitment frustrated Charles, Laud and some local diocesan officials. The
changes met resistance, which gathered strength with the collapse of the Personal
Rule and manifested itself either in a desire to return to the pre-Laudian Church,
or in its root and branch reform. The strength of an individual's anti-Catholicism
indicated which religious solution s/he supported. When war came, for the most
part Puritans predictably supported Parliament, but a number of moderate Puritans
supported the King. Even among the 'godly' fraternity allegiance could
sometimes be determined by a variety of considerations
