    Arsenic (As) contamination in drinking groundwater sources is a common environmental problem in Pakistan. Therefore, we collected a total of (n = 81) drinking groundwater samples from various groundwater sources, from two districts’ namely Ghotki (n = 44) and Nawab Shah (n = 37) of Sindh, Province, Pakistan. The current research aimed to investigate the hydrogeochemistry of groundwater with elevated arsenic (As), its effect on the health of local population living in the study area, potential sources of groundwater variables, and the suitability of groundwater for ingestion motive. The results showed that groundwater sample variables of both districts had moderate to high concentration levels. The cations concentrations were observed in decreasing order of Na+ > Ca+ > Mg+ > K+, for both districts, while anions abundance was HCO3− > Cl− > SO42− > F− > NO3− in the Ghotki, and HCO3− > SO42− > Cl− > NO3− > F− in the Nawab Shah, respectively. Arsenic (As) had low to high concentration levels in both districts, observed with average values of 10.1 μg/L and 21.0 μg/L in the Ghotki and Nawab Shah, respectively. The water type was mixed CaMgCl type in both districts, while the groundwater sources were saturated for CO3 minerals indicated by the saturation indices results. Principal component analysis showed the geogenic source of ion exchange, dissolution of minerals, weathering of host rocks and anthropogenic input of industrial activities, agricultural practices and domestic waste for groundwater contamination. The water quality index (WQI) exhibits that majority of groundwater samples (73.6% of Ghotki and 65.7% of Nawab Shah) were suitable for drinking. The non-carcinogenic risk (HQ) values of As were (>1) in groundwater samples of the Ghotki and Nawab Shah, while a high mean HQ value (8.78 × 100) was recorded for children in Nawab Shah. The carcinogenic risk (CR) values of As were significantly higher than the maximum threshold CR value (1 × 10–4). This study emphasized that monitoring strategies are substantially needed to mitigate the As contamination to reduce the potential health risk.</p

    Investigation of mechanical behavior of woven/knitted hybrid composites

    The objective of this research is to develop the woven/knitted hybrid composites for improved in plane as well as out of plane mechanical properties. Two different type of structures and two different materials were used in this study. Firstly, the woven and knitted fabrics were developed with glass and Kevlar yarn. Secondly, the laminated composite samples were fabricated with different stacking sequence of fabric plies. The epoxy resin was used as matrix. The cured samples were characterized for impact, tensile and dynamic mechanical properties. The behavior of composite materials was then analyzed with percentages of different fiber and fabric types. The samples with higher percentages of knitted reinforcement gave better impact strength but failed to provide better tensile properties. Moreover, the samples with higher percentages of woven structure and glass materials gives better modulus values

    Emotional Intelligence and Job Satisfaction among Faculty Members of Higher Education Institutions of Pakistan

    The aim of this study is to measure the correlation between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction of the faculty members of public sector higher education institutions of Sindh province. The method of this study is descriptive with quantitative design. The population of the studycompriseshigher education institutions of Sindh province. A random sampling technique is used to collect primary data with a questionnaire. Participants are recruited through survey sampling using “Google Forms”. Faculty members having teaching experience of more than five years in higher education institutions of Sindh province are included in the study.Data is entered and analyzed using SPSS version 20.Results reveal about strong positive and statistically significant correlation between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction. Moreover, this positive and statistically significant correlation was seen between job satisfaction and all components of emotional intelligence. All qualities of emotional intelligence, as well as overall emotional intelligence scores, showed a significant positive correlation with job satisfaction scores; which were statistically significant; p&lt;0.05.There was a statistically significant positive correlation between all components of emotional intelligence and job satisfaction. Hence, it is important for higher education institutions to concentrate on those practices that promote emotional intelligence among their teaching faculty

    Effect of fiber orientation and layering on shape distortion and mechanical behavior of jute composites

    Plant fibers provide a biodegradable and sustainable alternative to synthetic reinforcements in polymer composites. However, process-induced shape distortion, which occurs from the residual stresses produced due to varying thermal expansion and complex interaction between the fiber and resin matrix, is a key problem in their use. This research examines the impact of varying stacking sequences and number of layers on the shape distortion of jute/epoxy composites. Jute yarn was impregnated with epoxy resin to make prepreg sheets. These sheets were stacked at different angles and configurations and consolidated to make flat composite sheet using compression molding. Following the post-curing of these composites, a significant curvature was observed in the flat plates, which was quantified in terms of curvature height and radius of curvature. The tensile properties, thermal conductivity and Coefficient of Thermal Expansion (CTE), of the developed composite materials were also evaluated. The findings revealed that the composite with a stacking sequence of [0/90/0] exhibited enhanced tensile strength, reaching 90.077 MPa. Composite featuring a stacking sequence of [0/90/0/90], exhibited the least curvature height and minimal warpage (0.4 mm in longitudinal and 2.2 mm in transverse direction). Additionally, it also exhibited a value of 3.33 × 10−6 for CTE and of 0.0283 W/m·K for thermal conductivity

    Christianity in the Court of Mughal Emperor Akbar (1556-1605AD)

    This article attempts to highlight the religious freedom vested to the Christians in the kingdom of Mughal Emperor Akbar (1556-1605AD) and his cordial relationship with the Jesuit Missionaries in the Mughal Court. Three Jesuit Missions were warmly received and welcomed by Akbar during the second half of his reign. These Missions arrived from Goa in 1579, 1591, 1594 and remained in the Mughal court till the death of Akbar in 1605AD. Accounts of these Jesuit Missions, their activities in the Mughal Court and efforts to convert Akbar into Christianity are also the focus of this article. Akbar was the first ruler of India who officially adopted the policy of religious tolerance and principles of Sulah-i-Kul (Universal Peace) for all. Akbar‟s interest in Christianity its religious philosophy and respect for Jesus and Mary is also mentioned in this articl
