Effect of Salinity Stress on Physiological Changes in Winter and Spring Wheat

Salinity is a leading threat to crop growth throughout the world. Salt stress induces altered physiological processes and several inhibitory effects on the growth of cereals, including wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). In this study, we determined the effects of salinity on five spring and five winter wheat genotypes seedlings. We evaluated the salt stress on root and shoot growth attributes, i.e., root length (RL), shoot length (SL), the relative growth rate of root length (RGR-RL), and shoot length (RGR-SL). The ionic content of the leaves was also measured. Physiological traits were also assessed, including stomatal conductance (gs), chlorophyll content index (CCI), and light-adapted leaf chlorophyll fluorescence, i.e., the quantum yield of photosystem II (Fv′/Fm′) and instantaneous chlorophyll fluorescence (Ft). Physiological and growth performance under salt stress (0, 100, and 200 mol/L) were explored at the seedling stage. The analysis showed that spring wheat accumulated low Na+ and high K+ in leaf blades compared with winter wheat. Among the genotypes, Sakha 8, S-24, W4909, and W4910 performed better and had improved physiological attributes (gs, Fv′/Fm′, and Ft) and seedling growth traits (RL, SL, RGR-SL, and RGR-RL), which were strongly linked with proper Na+ and K+ discrimination in leaves and the CCI in leaves. The identified genotypes could represent valuable resources for genetic improvement programs to provide a greater understanding of plant tolerance to salt stress

Literature is considered an important source of history. Different types of historical literatures were produced in India during medieval period. Minhaj Siraj, Hasan Nizami, Fukhri-i-Mudabbir and Zia-ud-din Barani were the professional historian who revealed the political history of medieval India. In medieval tradition of historiography, historical works could be written in a special style and might combine the oratory and poetry. Amir khusrau (1253-1325A.D) was a multifaceted, multi-talented poet to whom the term ―renaissance man‖ genuinely applies. His poetic version described the minute details of political, social and cultural aspects of Indian life; even he criticized the public activities of women. Amir Khusrau was associated with three dynasties of Sultanate period in Hindustan. Amir Khusrau integrated into his vast poetic output, many perspicacious observations about contemporary Indian mores. His work is valuable not only as literary source but also for historical, social and political insight. Amir Khusrau is also known as the harbinger of the cultural synthesis between Hindu and Muslim civilization. His work is a defining moment in Indo Persian literature as it makes available crucial insights into his intellectual heritage and cultural intricacies of his age. Amir Khusrau was a known poet of his age, acknowledged as ―Tuti-iHind‖. His primary concern was to demonstrate his literary works. He gained lasting reputation and got the reward of his literary performances. His work including his five Diwans and Masnvis such as Ijaz-i-khusrawi, Nuh-i-Siphar, Hast-Bhaist, Matla-ul-Anwar, Khazain-ul-Futuh, Qiranus-Saadain covered many aspects of Sultanate history. Amir Khusrau narrates political, religious and social life of medieval period through his poetry. Amir Khusrau‘s work also depicts the moral standards of that time regarding women. Khusrau addresses various issues of women through his masnavis. Although, his work is an alternate source of history but it is remarkable in portraying the real face of feminisms in Middle Ages. This article basically encompasses those literary works of Amir Khusrau which dealt with the status of women during Sultanate period

The major division of literary theory is presented in a parable, which includes the author, the text and the reader. All critical theories are derived separately from the author, the text and the reader. The only way to understand the text is to understand the author. It ignored the text and the functionality of the reader. Critical theories that relied entirely on the text rejected the author and the reader. Discussions related to Reader response criticism have given rise to new questions. These questions have emerged as issues of reading. This article presents the ideas and concepts in the context of Reader Response criticism, interpretive angles, the importance of reader and the problems of reading. Questions have been raised which will make it possible to look at and understand this critical school of thought from a new angle.</span

This article covers all aspects of his psychological critique. His critique has been clarified with arguments. This article is an attempt to understand Riaz Ahmad’s critique

Sex and the streets: The open secret of sexual abuse among Pakistan\u27s two million street children

Background: About two million children live on the streets in Pakistan. Their complicated past and dire living conditions make them susceptible to many psychological and physical problems, including sexual abuse.Main body: With little research on the topic, the prevalence of sexual intercourse among street children is reported to be as high as 88% in Pakistan. With commercial sex a common practice among the street children, public places such as bus terminals and parks have become foci of prostitution and sexual exploitation. A growing concern is the spread of HIV/AIDS among the affected children due to a general lack of awareness about the disease and its prevention and high prevalence of unsafe sexual practices. The generally apathetic attitude of the society towards this issue and the affected children, combined with a lack of commitment and limited resource allocation by the government, has contributed in deteriorating the situation further. Conclusions: A comprehensive multi-pronged strategy involving government, societal and international stakeholders is crucial to tackle the current crisis

OBJECTIVES: In developing countries, road traffic accidents are common and primarily affect middle-aged men. The aim of this study was to evaluate the frequency of epidural hematoma in people of various ages owing to road traffic incidents on computed tomography scan brain. METHODOLOGY: From February 2018 to January 2021, a cross-sectional descriptive study was done in the Department of Neurosurgery. A total of 460 individuals were chosen from emergency room visits due to traffic accidents. Individuals who had suffered a head injury and had an epidural hematoma on a computed tomography scan were included in the study. The frequency of epidural hematoma in different ages was determined. RESULTS: A total of 460 patients were enrolled in the trial, with 196 (42.60%) having epidural hematomas and 264 having no epidural hematomas (57.39%). Males accounted for 152 (77.55%) of the 196 epidural hematoma cases, while females accounted for 44 (22.45%), with an average age of 19 years and a range of 2-55±9.59 years. All the people who had a head injury were divided into three groups. The prevalence of epidural hematoma varied by age, with 75.51% (15-44 years), 20.40% (14 years), and 4.08% (>45 years) being the most common. CONCLUSION: It was concluded from this study that epidural hematoma determined by computed tomography scan brain is more frequent in middle age

OBJECTIVETo determine the efficacy of disc excision in the treatment of herniated lumbar intervertebral disc.METHODOLOGYThis study was conducted at Neurosurgery Department of Naseer Teaching Hospital, Peshawar from February 2015 to January 2016.The study design was descriptive case series in which consecutive non probability sampling technique was used. Clinical outcome of patients undergoing discectomy was determined using Stauffer-Coventry criteria and patients rated as excellent, good, fair and poorRESULTA total of 88 patients were recruited with 64% males and 36% females. Mean age was 39 years+4.68 SD.70% patients had L4-L5 and 30% had L5-S1 level disc herniation. Laminectomy was performed in 58%,fenestration in 34% and hemilaminectomy in 8% patients. Postoperatively at four weeks, satisfactory pain relief reported by 85% and unsatisfactory pain relief reported by 15% patients.CONCLUSIONConventional laminactomy, fenestration or hemilaminectomy is a feasible, safe and effective treatment in patients with lumbar disc herniation. Relief of pain is faster for patients assigned to early surgery
