Deflection of coupled elasticity–electrostatic bimorph PVDF material: theoretical, FEM and experimental verification
Piezoelectric materials have wide applications in the field of mechanical, aerospace and civil engineering because of its
voltage dependent actuation. Piezoelectric material goes through voltage generation whenever deflection is induced in it
and vice versa. Piezoelectric bimorph beam has been widely used for sensing and actuating. In the actuation mode, an
electric field is applied across the beam thickness, one layer contracts while the other expands. This results in the bending
of the entire structure and tip deflection. In the sensing mode, the bimorph is used to measure an external load by
monitoring the piezoelectric induced electrode voltages. In this research work, a 2D bimorph piezoelectric actuator model
having two layers made of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) material was developed to examine the inverse piezoelectric
effect. Finite element analysis (FEA) was carried out on specially designed actuator model by using MATLAB Partial
Differential Equation (PDE) ToolboxTM. Theoretical analysis has been carried out to measure the tip deflection under
applied electric field. The laboratory test was performed to investigate the deformation behavior of piezoelectric actuator. It
is observed that, more the electric field applied, more the material would be deformed in a particular direction. The
experimental results are in good agreement with numerical results

Music, media and mysticism : the pop-proheticism of Bob Marley and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
Includes abstract.Includes bibliographical references (leaves 213-222).This dissertation examines the recent emergence of popular recording artists who explicitly invoke the prophetic voices of their religious traditions in their music. In doing so, they situate their music within a pre-existing prophetic lineage. These musicians selfconsciously view their music as vehicle to spread a divine message, and they recognize that their lyrical voice can either become or echo a prophetic voice
Financial Sector Restructuring in Pakistan
In this paper an attempt has been made to review the financial restructuring process and its importance for economic growth and macroeconomic stability. The main focus is on the financial restructuring efforts undertaken by the government of Pakistan since 1990. We alsoanalyze the impacts of financial restructuring by using various financial indicators. The overallresults suggest that financial industry in Pakistan showing remarkable and unprecedented growth.Unlike 1990, the performance of financial sector is much better today. After the successfullycompletion of first generation of reforms, the introduction of second generation of reforms arerequired, which helps further strengthen the financial system and transform the benefits of the first generation of reforms to common man.
Remittances and Poverty Linkages in Pakistan: Evidence and Some Suggestions for Further Analysis
Global remittances experienced a dramatic increase over the years, particularly since 1990 wherein the developing world emerged to be the major beneficiary accounting for 60 percent of the total amount. Because of the sheer volume, and magnitude of the remittances, and pre-eminence of these flows compared to the FDIs, development assistance and in some cases the trade related transactions, the development practitioners tended to focus and investigate the importance of remittances which are generally regarded as a dependable source for growth, improved welfare and poverty alleviation in the developing world. Given the fact that remittances flows entail wide ranging ramifications both for sending as well as receiving countries, difficult to be generalised, hence empirical evidence has been mounted though lack of consensus is visible.
ضلع بھکر میں اُردو نثرکا ارتقا
Bhakkar is located on the banks of the Indus River in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It is also called Lucknow of Pakistan. After the establishment of Pakistan, a large number of poets and writers settled here. Among the local poets of Bhakkar, Qazi Fateh Muhammad Fateh, Asad Jafari, Bashir Ahmad Bashr and Athar Tirmizi are particularly noteworthy. The names of Abbas Khan and Akram Khan Niazi are prominent among the famous novelists of Bhakkar district. The best fictions were also written in Bhakkar. Whose example is not found anywhere in Urdu literature. Abbas Khan, Farhat Parveen, Qurb Abbas, Ali Shah, Ruby Niazi, Muhammad Ashraf Kamal, and others are very popular among these fiction writers. In Bhakkar district, Urdu prose has been well tested in other genres. These genres include biography, essay writing, sketch writing, travelogue, drama writing, column writing, Criticism, research and others are included. There was immense work in every genre of prose, which is an important milestone in Urdu literature
