Title: Ethics, politics and religion in postsecular society in the work of Adela Cortina. This research is divided into six chapters; In the first, Adela Cortina's option is analyzed in relation to post-secular thinking, referred to by her as pluralist thinking. She will start from her work God in Kant's transcendental philosophy, where she takes sides for the existence of God, whose existence can be justified from practical rationality. Here the perspective of Kant and of the new Frankfurters - Adorno and Horkheimer mainly - will be presented, that it would be irrational for evil and injustice to be the last word in human reality. This principle seeks to overcome the moral absurdity that implies that, in this world, the kind only receives injustice and pain. Next, the validity of religious ideas in the public sphere will be studied, emphasizing that religious ideas should not violate the dignity and rights of people. To avoid such affectation, there must be minimum standards based on justice, dialogically agreed upon and that everyone must obey. It delves into Adela Cortina's proposal to place religious voices on the same level of dialogue with other voices, since religious ideas in the public sphere have the same validity as secular ideas. It describes how Adela Cortina's philosophical proposal appears in the context of postmodernity where the great paradigms of modernity have collapsed, making it clear that scientism and pragmatism were not enough to legitimize moral or political norms; a fact that made it clear that religion can provide valid elements to guide morality and politics. Finally, we see how Adela Cortina conceives the contribution of Christianity to society, a contribution that consists of the idea of a God who loves man and who seeks his happiness, an idea that will facilitate the creation of a universal ecumenical spirituality. Chapter II specifically addresses Adela Cortina's fundamental proposal: civil ethics. The social context in which said ethics arises is analyzed, this being the plurality of ideas, customs, beliefs, etc., here Adela Cortina proposes the need for universalizable norms that arise from minimum agreed parameters. To contextualize civic ethics, reference is made to moral theory in general, describing what moral conscience is and how it arises; The neurosciences that Adela Cortina analyzes and shows its limitations are focused on. It becomes clear that ethics is a type of knowledge that tries to be rationally constructed based on conceptual rigor and the methods of analysis and explanations typical of philosophy. To describe the origin of civic ethics, the European social evolution described by Adela Cortina is analyzed, the evolution from the vassal to the subject and then to the citizen is mentioned; In this last stage, she analyzes the objection of our author to the passivity of the citizen and the need for the autonomy of the person to forge a moral society.Título: Ética, política y religión en la sociedad postsecular en la obra de AdelaCortina.

Heinrich Schaefer: Mein letztes Werk sei Gift!

Little is known about the life of Heinrich Schaefer, that author of German early expressionism whose main work, his novel "Gefangenschaft," written from 1911 to 1913 and printed in 1918, never made it into bookstores but circulated clandestinely among subscribers in the Berlin milieu. The book had been announced together with key works of modernism such as Carl Einstein's "Bebuquin" or Franz Jung's "Opferung" in the famous series "Aktionsbücher der Aeternisten", but was the only volume not freely available for purchase. Apparently, it went far beyond what was reasonable for the public, even by expressionist standards at the time. For in it, the abysmal thoughts of a murderer are relentlessly delivered in an uncensored internal view, not as a confession leading to atonement, but in an act of tremendous self-exposure, as a morality-free transcript of everything that haunts the first-person narrator's mind and body. "A revolutionary book," was the verdict of Max Herrmann-Neisse. "Saying the unspeakable" was also the slogan of Schaefer's volume "Drei Erzählungen" (1918) with stories and prose sketches that today are also almost completely forgotten, and which, like his novel, are now to be rediscovered as solitaires of the experimental first-person literature of modernism

El hombre umbrío by Adela Fernández and the god Tezcatlipoca from the nahua pantheon: an intertextual approach

This paper examines the short story El hombre umbrío by Mexican writer Adela Fernández, proposing a possible intertextual relationship between the narrative and the mythological figure of the god Tezcatlipoca of the Nahua pantheon as a probable source of inspiration for the author. It also seeks to disseminate the writer\u27s work in contemporary literary studies. For the method, intertextuality was used, from Lauro Zavala\u27s notion, asthe link between the myth of the god Tezcatlipoca, specifically his representations, and the main character in El hombre umbrío. Revised estimates and projections of international migration : 1980-2000

    No full text
This report reviews the World Bank's latest international migration statistics for every country in the world for each five year period from 1980 - 2000. The estimates and projections of net international migration during this period will be used as input statistics for the forthcoming edition of the World Population Projections. In the early 1980s, net international migration to all receiving countries totaled more than 1.2 million persons a year. The author assumes this figure to gradually decrease to fewer than 900,000 persons a year in the period 1995 - 2000. The current male dominance of international migration flows is also expected to decrease. He also assumes that the importance of the United States as a prime destination of immigrants will increase substantially in the 1990s. Mexico is by far the largest net exporter of international migrants.Human Migrations&Resettlements,Voluntary and Involuntary Resettlement,Health Monitoring&Evaluation,International Migration,Gender and Social Development

    No full text
This comment from Adela Cortina's text "Mans and citizens moral education", brings together some of the arguments that demonstrate the invasion that has suffered the philosophical elaboration and particularly the reflections about ethics from the un-reflexive confidence of the process that some of researchers believe in seeing the conductismo and the cognitism. As well as the advanced scientific formulas whose methods allow fabricating moral subjects. With some examples and quotes of others who are interested in the subject, the author emphasises in the need to distinguish two elements: 1) the unpredictable truth of the ethical act, which changes the coordinates of good. It also can also be judged by a rational way and universal criteria (defence of Kant opposed to the invective against him, made by Cortina). 2) The moral collective codes that pretend to teach a foreseen good, an instituted knowledge over what would be moral or not; which was the same for everyone and for all times.

Title: Understanding Area and Volume Formulae of Geometric Figures in the History of Mathematics and by Pupils Author: Bc. Adela Tavačová Supervisor: prof. RNDr. Ladislav Kvasz, DSc. The aim of this thesis is to describe the nature and possible causes of problematic areas in pupils' understanding of area and volume of geometric shapes and solids and treat this issue from the point of view of its ontogeny and phylogeny. Modern theories of gradual formation of the concepts of area and volume in pupils' minds will be characterized, together with the historical development of these concepts (from ancient Egypt and Greece to modern day). Complex analysis of the current Mathematics course books for primary and lower-secondary level is offered in the second part of the thesis. The analysis is based on the criteria following from the study of academic literature and on the historic research in this area. The aim of the analysis is to describe the way in which the course books treat geometric formulae and to what extent they respect their gradual development. In the final discussion, general aspects leading from the analysis will be summarized and offered as possible inspiration for pupils, teachers and future teachers of Mathematics. Key Words: formula, area, volume, algebraic language, hypothetical..
