The mobile Internet report
Key ponts
Material wealth creation / destruction should surpass earlier computing cycles. The mobile Internet cycle, the 5th cycle in 50 years, is just starting. Winners in each cycle often create more market capitalization than in the last. New winners emerge, some incumbents survive – or thrive – while many past winners falter.
The mobile Internet is ramping faster than desktop Internet did, and we believe more users may connect to the Internet via mobile devices than desktop PCs within 5 years.
Five IP-based products / services are growing / converging and providing the underpinnings for dramatic growth in mobile Internet usage – 3G adoption + social networking + video + VoIP + impressive mobile devices.
Apple + Facebook platforms serving to raise the bar for how users connect / communicate – their respective ramps in user and developer engagement may be unprecedented.
Decade-plus Internet usage / monetization ramps for mobile Internet in Japan plus desktop Internet in developed markets provide roadmaps for global ramp and monetization.
Massive mobile data growth is driving transitions for carriers and equipment providers.
Emerging markets have material potential for mobile Internet user growth. Low penetration of fixed-line telephone and already vibrant mobile value-added services mean that for many EM users and SMEs, the Internet will be mobile
Morgan Stanley and 9/11
This particular case study examines the crisis management plan of Morgan Stanley, a global financial services firm, before, during and after the infamous terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Although Morgan Stanley was the largest tenant in the World Trade Center, the firm had one of the lowest casualty rates in comparison to other companies. The results of this case study demonstrate that by taking a proactive approach, Morgan Stanley was able to deal with the crisis much more effectively than if it had failed to do so. Also, by maintaining open communication with the company\u27s primary publics throughout the crisis, Morgan Stanley demonstrated a prime example of crisis management

New York City Limits: The Case of Morgan Stanley
In 1991, the New York investment bank, Morgan Stanley, announced that it was considering relocating its corporate headquarters from Manhattan to Stamford, Connecticut. New York City and New York State interceded to prevent a business they perceived as an anchor in the financial community from leaving. A deal was struck in which Morgan Stanley agreed to remain in New York City for ten years in exchange for a
package of tax incentives worth $40 million. This paper explores the details surrounding the Morgan Stanley case. In addition, it explores how the comparative advantage of cities like New York has slowly been eroded. Finally, it seeks to explain why the states of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut continue to use tax incentives to lure businesses away from one another despite the fact that they would be collectively better off if they agreed to stop the practice

Morgan Stanley Investment Pitch
Morgan Stanley investment pitch demonstrating it is an undervalued company given its position in the industry/sector and recent major acquisitions. I demonstrate the future share price\u27s upside using the Dividend Discount and Free Cash Flow Model. Using the company\u27s cash flows and dividend growth rates, I was able to value the company at an upside of about 64%. The company is a leader in terms of market share and assets under management; the changes in its business model towards less reliability in market fluctuations for revenue growth due to its expansion in wealth and asset management will allow it to succeed and surpass its competitors in the long-run
Analysis of Morgan Stanley during the financial crisis
The main task of the diploma thesis is an analysis of financial performance and position of Morgan Stanley during several successive periods before and during the subprime financial crisis. Through the analysis of trends in key items, it also demonstrates strong cyclicality of financial performance and position of the investment bank. The first chapter deals with history and key divisions of the Company. The following chapter generally discusses selected phenomena, which, as per the author's view, significantly influenced industry-wide record-breaking performance during the period before the subprime crisis, and which substantially determined Morgan Stanley's risk profile and performance's corrections later during the Crisis. The core part of the Thesis is conceived as an analysis of financial performance and position of Morgan Stanley during the selected periods. The analysis of pre-crisis period until 2006 in the third chapter demonstrates growth of activities lying behind the unprecedented profitability of the Institution. The following fourth chapter analyzes deteriorating financial performance during the subprime crisis and indicates crucial strategy changes, implemented by the Company at the end of 2008. Effects of the strategic changes and challenges of the future development of the Institution are discussed in the last chapter. Additionally, the Thesis includes annexes, which further deal with selected topics and their general relations to investments banks and two annexes which compare Morgan Stanley with its nearest peers during specific periods.Cílem diplomové práce je analýza finanční výkonnosti a pozice Morgan Stanley v několika navazujících obdobích před a v průběhu subprimové finanční krize.
