High-density mapping of left atrial endocardial activation during sinus rhythm and coronary sinus pacing in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation
No full textIntroduction: This study was designed to record global high-density maps of left atrial endocardial activation during sinus rhythm and coronary sinus pacing.Method and Results: Noncontact mapping of the left atrium was performed in nine patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation undergoing pulmonary vein ablation procedures. High-density isopotential and isochronal activation maps were superimposed on three-dimensional reconstructions of left atrial geometry. Mapping was repeated during pacing from sites within the coronary sinus. Earliest left atrial endocardial activation occurred anterior to the right pulmonary veins in seven patients and on the anterosuperior septum in two patients. A line of conduction block was seen in the posterior wall and inferior septum in all patients. The direction of activation in the left atrial myocardium overlying the coronary sinus was different from the electrogram sequence in the coronary sinus catheter in 6 of 9 patients. During coronary sinus pacing, activation entered the left atrium a mean (SD) of 41 (13) ms after the pacing stimulus at a site 12 (10) mm from the endocardium overlying the pacing electrode. Lines of conduction block were present in the posterior wall and inferior septum.Conclusion: In patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, lines of conduction block are present in the left atrium during sinus rhythm and coronary sinus pacing. Electrograms recorded in the coronary sinus infrequently correspond to the direction of activation in the overlying left atrial myocardium
A socio-rhetorical exegesis of 1 Timothy 2:8-15
No full textIn this thesis two interralted tasks are undertaken. First, this thesis is an attempt to gain mastery of an interpretive methodology, namely, socio-rhetorical analysis. Second, by looking at a crucial text that has major implications for the contemporary church, I have applied this method of analysis to a particularly Scriptural text, namely, 1 Timothy 2:8-15. In this thesis I demonstrate using socio-rhetorical analysis that the discourse contained in 1 Timothy 2:8-15 constitutes baptised patriarchal cultural practices and traditions from the dominant Greco-Roman culture of the first century. I demonstrate, therefore, that the portrayal of women in the text reflects a cultural imperative, and not a theological imperative, that was co-opted from the ""secular"" Greco-Roman culture of the day and transposed, using Scriptural texts as authentication, into the Christian community at Ephesus. Thus the text is simply re-enforcing normative Greco-Roman cultural values upon Christian women and camouflaging it as a Christian norm in order to persuade women to conform to patriarchal cultural standards. Such persuasion, however, is hardly required unless one has already accepted cultural assumptions about the subordination and silencing (objectification) of women in an androcentric hegemonic culture
Radiofrequency ablation of idiopathic ventricular fibrillation guided by noncontact mapping
No full textA 32-year-old man with idiopathic ventricular fibrillation and an implantable cardioverter defibrillator presented during a ventricular fibrillation storm. Frequent monomorphic ventricular ectopics with left bundle branch block morphology were documented, some of which initiated fibrillation. He underwent noncontact mapping of the right ventricle, during which the ventricular ectopics were mapped to a site in the free wall displaying a diastolic potential 80 ms before ectopic QRS onset. Following three radiofrequency energy applications, the ectopics were abolished. After 11-month follow-up, he has experienced no further arrhythmias. Noncontact mapping may identify ablatable triggers of ventricular fibrillation and lead to successful outcomes even when only single ectopics are present
Our Savior and King: Theology proper in 1 Timothy
No full textIn this dissertation the author seeks to present a holistic theology proper (hereafter, simply "theology") for the first epistle to Timothy, with special regard to the letter's doxologies (King) and divine title, Savior. Chapter 1 identifies the problem, includes a history of research, and describes the method and procedure of the dissertation. The method of inquiry consists of determining the meaning and function of the letter's theology. Thus, the author seeks to understand the background and character of 1 Timothy's theology, while also wishing to discern why the author of 1 Timothy chose to emphasize these peculiar theological themes.
Chapter 2 explores the meaning and function of the theological descriptions found in the doxologies of 1 Timothy 1:17 and 6:15-16. By thorough comparison to Greco-Roman, early Jewish, and OT literature, the author suggests a basically OT-informed view of God. The doxologies depict God as the only Sovereign who rules over all. The writer then determines that the doxologies function as a support and encouragement for Timothy to heed Paul's charge. This conclusion is largely based on the positioning of the doxologies and the macrostructure of the letter.
Chapter 3 examines the meaning and function of the divine epithet Savior. After comparing this term to its occurrences in Greco-Roman, early Jewish, and OT literature, the author again favors an OT background for Savior. This term depicts God as one who mercifully and indiscriminately reconciles sinners who trust in Christ. While also recognizing other functions, the author suggests that God as Savior may have been aimed at the primary implied reader, Timothy, as well. Accordingly, the idea of Savior informs and strengthens Timothy, so that he might continue to labor in presenting the life-giving gospel of God.
Chapter 4 considers every remaining theological description in 1 Timothy, as well as themes that significantly relate to the letter's theology, such as Christology. The author suggests that the entire theology of 1 Timothy either coheres with or supports the predominant ideas of God as King and Savior.
Chapter 5 summarizes the dissertation's findings and concludes with suggested implications for NT studies

No full textA cooperative project between the U.S., U.K., Germany, Spain, and Portugal, this 2013 two-ship seismic experiment surveyed the Galicia Bank region off Iberia. F.S. Poseidon tended the OBS instruments while R/V Marcus G. Langseth fired the airguns. The goal was to collect data necessary to study the rifted continental to oceanic crust transition in the Deep Galicia Basin west of Spain. This report provides a look at the automatic detection and decoding of barcodes found within imagery. Such techniques could conceivably be used in the retail, manufacturing, inventory and travel industries as well as others. A general description of barcodes is included as well as a review of some of the techniques used to automatically locate barcodes within larger images containing additional objects. AN INVESTIGATION OF DIFFERENTIAL REINFORCEMENT OF ALTERNATIVE BEHAVIOR WITHOUT EXTINCTION
No full textWe manipulated relative reinforcement for problem behavior and appropriate behavior using differential reinforcement of alternative behavior (DRA) without an extinction component. Seven children with developmental disabilities participated. We manipulated duration (Experiment 1), quality (Experiment 2), delay (Experiment 3), or a combination of each (Experiment 4), such that reinforcement favored appropriate behavior rather than problem behavior even though problem behavior still produced reinforcement. Results of Experiments 1 to 3 showed that behavior was often sensitive to manipulations of duration, quality, and delay in isolation, but the largest and most consistent behavior change was observed when several dimensions of reinforcement were combined to favor appropriate behavior (Experiment 4).
