Abstract
Some iron slags coming from two archaeological sites in Locri Epizefiri (Magna Grecia - Calabria Region, Italy) were analyzed by means of ICP-MS measurements. The isotopic composition 204Pb, 206Pb, 207Pb and 208Pb of trace of lead present into the slags is reported. The analysis permits to come to some first conclusions, deriving from the different origin and metallurgical process used in the VI and IV° c. B.C.: during the first period, it is conjecturable that - at least for some slags - the ironmaking started from the reduction of the mineral, but clearly not coming from a unique kind of ores or mines. In more recent time, the IV° c. B.C. slags seem to indicate that the metalworking used ingot or bloom, probably imported by commercial trades
