This research highlights the importance of the relationship between glacier health, snow cover, water resources availability and territories in the Alpine region. Snow has the strategic task of protecting glaciers, feeding freshwater reserves, regulating sea level and supporting local communities. However, snowfall is decreasing and snow and ice are melting faster due to global warming. Therefore, planning future risk management strategies is mandatory for water governance and environmental protection. In this regard Engadin represents an interesting case study. In this region, a local project aims at slowing down the retreat of the Morteratsch glacier. Moreover, a watercourse renaturation project has also been implemented in order to overcome the problem of substantially increased river flow due to rapidly melting glaciers. These are examples of policies that should take into account current climate changes and the physical conditions of the mountain environment

Social media, routes and narrations: a digital geography of nature-based tourism. Tourism, especially mass tourism, can have a negative impact on the environment and local cultures. In order to overcome this criticality, the proposals for alternative forms of tourism have multiplied in recent years. Nature-based tourism offers interesting opportunities, today enriched by the diffusion of social media and digital platforms created to help and encourage users who desire to explore natural environments. In this work, in addition to describing the most common dynamics and critical issues concerning nature-based tourism, the case of the AllTrails digital platform is explored

Participatory digital exhibition “La montagna al femminile”. Geographical readings of the role of women in Alpine spaces between maps and photographs. For centuries, mountains and women have been placed in opposition against each other by virtue of stereotypes and prejudices. Historical sources show that women, albeit in the shadows, held key functions in rural mountain societies. Through cartography and photographs selected from public and private archives – brought together in the cartographic-photographic exhibition “La montagna al femminile” – the relationship between the presumed marginality of the Alpine territory and the strength of women in rural and entrepreneurial work, in the conquest of Alpine peaks and in the tourist enhancement of mountain areas is narrated. This contribution reflects on the use of images, recent and past, as a tool for understanding territorial construction and its social organisation (Cristaldi, 2017, p. 64). With the use of digital technologies, an extension of space from material to virtual has been possible, also thanks to the creation of maps that reinforce memory and contribute to modifying the discourse of the role of women in mountain territories in the past as in the present

The new industrial revolution between techno-enthusiasm and technophobia: a spatial analysis of sentiment. The growing diffusion of advanced technologies has led to an intense debate on the existence of a new industrial revolution and its effects on individual lives, local communities, and spaces. The present work aims to contribute to this debate, focusing the attention on the perceptions of changes, which swing between tendencies of techno-enthusiasm and expressions of technophobia. Starting from the literature developed on socio-technological imaginaries, the paper analyzes the fourth industrial revolution through the opinions expressed on the web, using Sentiment Analysis. The empirical work was carried out on cities located in different areas of Italy and characterized by different manufacturing vocations and development prospects (Pisa, Terni, Taranto, Lecce)
