Jon Keune, Shared Devotion, Shared Food: Equality and the Bhakti-Caste Question in Western India [Ludovica Tozzi], p. 391

    No full text
"Shared Devotion, Shared Food: Equality and the Bhakti-Caste Question in Western India" by Jon Keune deals with an in-depth analysis of Marathi literature from 1854 to 1950, in order to find an answer to the question: "Can the idea that people are equal before God inspire them to treat each other as equals? Can theological egalitarianism lead to social equality?”. While trying to answer such a complex question, the author reveals the strengths and flaws of the so-called "most liberal Hindu religious movement"

Euripide e l’architettura: fregi, triglifi e cornicioni come oggetti sulla scena teatrale

    No full text

    No full text
This article analyses a particular assembly technique used by Federigo Tozzi in composing his texts. The case of study is offered by one of his major novels, «Il podere» (1921), whose manuscript reveals how Tozzi deliberatly left some descriptives parts to be completed later. To reach this completion, the author could work en plein air, to catch a landscape as a painter would have done, otherwise re-use some pages written years before. In this second case, the pages here re-used are taken from the typescript of «Adele» (1979, posthumous), the well-known first novel never published by Tozzi but rather dis-mantled, put aside and kept in a drawer as a sort of tank of useful pages, to be re-used if necessary

Heliocentric distance dependencies of the C2 lifetime and C2 parent production rate in comet P/Brorsen-Metcalf (1989o)

    No full text
Comet P/Brorsen-Metcalf (1989o) has been extensively observed in the visible and in the ultraviolet during its latest apparition of summer 1989. In this paper we report a preliminary determination of the C2 production rates and lifetimes and we compare those rates to the H2O production rates obtained from UV data

Compositional Surface Variety among the Centaurs

    No full text
The Centaurs are a particular family of objects with orbits whose semimajor axes fall between those of Jupiter and Neptune. They are likely the transition objects between the Kuiper belt population and short-period comets. To investigate the nature of these particular objects, we have performed optical spectroscopic observations of five Centaurs. The results show a great diversity among the reflectances of the five Centaurs. The colors do not seem to be related to the perihelion distance of the objects. We looked for weak cometary emission features, in particular the CN-band emission at 3880 Å, but no CN emission feature has been detected within 3 sigma in any of the investigated spectra

On characterization of (E,M)-structures in procategories,

Mardesic introduced the concept of pro-reflective (dense) subcategory of a category C in order to define a categorical shape theory for topological spaces. Following the results obtained by the author introducing the (E,M)-factorisation structure on C w.r.t ProC, it is given a characterisation of those classes M for which there exists the class E in the ProC morphisms such that the pair (E,M) is a factorisation structure on C w.r.t. ESO Large Programme on physical studies of trans-Neptunian objects and Centaurs: Visible spectroscopy

    No full text
We present the first results from a visible spectroscopic investigation of trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs) and Centaurs, performed within an ESO Large Programme started in 2001 April to spectrophotometrically study these pristine objects in the visible and near-infrared. So far, spectra of 12 TNOs and Centaurs have been obtained using the FORS1 instrument at the Very Large Telescope. The principal preliminary results are differences in the spectral gradient-the gradients obtained indicate the existence of a range of values from moderately red to very red-and the presence of absorption features on two of the observed objects of as yet unexplained origin. The spectral gradients of the objects are also compared with photometric slopes obtained from quasi-simultaneous BVRI magnitudes of the objects (where available). An analysis of the spectral gradients with respect to the perihelion distance of the objects suggests that Centaurs (with the possible exception of 1999 OX3) occupy a zone of lower reflectance slope compared with the TNOs, probably indicating stronger resurfacing effects from cometary activity and, though less likely, collisions. Based on observations collected at the European Southern Observatory, Paranal, Chile (program 167.C-0340, principal investigator H. B.)
