    Navigating a global pandemic crisis through marketing agility: evidence from Italian B2B firms

    Purpose This study aims to explore the impact of marketing agility on the business-to-business (B2B) firms' capacity to address unexpected events such as the recent coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, examining how they reshape their strategies during the different stages of a crisis. Design/methodology/approach This study follows a theory-building approach and performs an in-depth exploratory multiple-case study in the context of 16 Italian firms operating in the B2B sector. Findings The study develops an event-sequence-based framework and illustrates how agile marketing strategies empower B2B firms to cope with a crisis across three crucial moments: the event phase, the response management phase and the investigation phase. Originality/value This paper contributes to a better understanding of marketing agility in the context of crisis management by showing the agile marketing strategies that B2B firms adopt during the different stages of a crisis. This work provides a useful foundation to assist managers in coping with market uncertainty. It suggests practical guidelines to make more informed strategic and operational marketing decisions, increasing a firm's capacity to act in today's fast-moving, complex times

    In the present paper we report experimental evidence of a new effect, observed for the first time by Gozzini et al. on sodium vapour, in which an important rubidium vapour density increase (larger than one order of magnitude) is observed when silane-coated cells are shined by non-resonant and weak light. The effect is due to non-thermal light-induced atom desorption. A preliminary analysis of its dependence on the light power density and on the wavelength has been carried out. © 1994 IOP Publishing Ltd

    Disentangling the corporate entrepreneurship construct: conceptualizing through co-words

    This study defines the conceptual structure of corporate entrepreneurship (CE) by looking at the terms scholars have used over the last 26 years of research. With the use of a co-word analysis, five distinctive dimensions of CE and the evolution of related key terms are identified: sustained regeneration, competitive advantage, external entrepreneurship, organizational rejuvenation, and domain redefinition. Over time scholars’ attention has shifted from strategy to entrepreneurship by highlighting the relevance of the terms ‘intrapreneurship’ and ‘entrepreneurial orientation’. Surprisingly, concepts related to strategic entrepreneurship and strategic renewal are less relevant than expected. Besides laying the ground for a shared conceptualization of CE, this study highlights how bibliomeitrics can contribute to decreasing conceptual ambiguity in emergent research fields, such as entrepreneurship. Implications for managers on how to strategically create and develop CE within different organizational settings are also discussed

    Optical recording in Rb loaded-porous glass by reversible photoinduced phase transformations

    We report reversible phase transformations in Rb loaded-porous glass irradiated with weak laser light which allow us to realize image storage on it. The effect is due to photo-induced changes of Rb distribution inside the glass pores, where atomic photodetachment and confinement produce either formation or evaporation of Rb nanoclusters. These processes depend on light frequency and intensity making controllable by light the porous glass transparency. We demonstrate that porous glass doped with Rb can be used as a support to record a light pulse for a long time as well as to remember the order of light colors in an illumination sequence. © 2008 Optical Society of Americ

    Radiation trapping and vapor density of In confined in quartz cells

    We have measured, in the 700-950°C temperature range, the effective lifetime of the 6S1,2 excited level of indium vapor confined in quartz cells. The self trapping results much lower than expected suggest an effective vapor density lower than the one calculated at the thermal equilibrium. A possible explanation of this large deviation has been found in the increasing adsorption rate of indium at the cell walls. Partial fluorescence spectrum of the adsorbed atoms is reported

    Light-induced atomic desorption and related phenomena

    We review some recent studies on light-induced atomic desorption (LIAD) from dielectric surfaces. Alkali-metal atoms adsorbed either on organic films or on porous glass are released into the vapor phase under illumination. The measurements were performed in Pyrex resonance cells either coated with siloxane films or containing a porous glass sample. In both cases, the experimental results show that LIAD can be used to produce atomic densities suitable for most atomic physics experiments. Moreover, we find that photoinduced effects, correlated with LIAD, produce reversible formation and evaporation of alkali-metal clusters in porous glass. These processes depend on the light frequency, making the porous glass transmittance controllable by light
