Abstract Story is one of the important and influential literary genres that deserves to research on its structure and content .By study and analysis of a story, the reader could comprehend the textual messages and change his attitude toward life and different issues .After defining of the social novel, the author tries to analyze plot and personification in novel of âTehran-e- Makhufâ and respond to the questions on the method employed for plot and personification and analyze it from plot and its components such as conflict, suspension and resolution and compare the differences and similarities between old tales and modern novels.  The plot of âTehran-e- Makhufâ is not so complex due to its subject and content and natural order of events dominates on artificial discipline and it lacks open plot. Of main elements of plot, conflict is more outstanding here. This novel is full of emotional and moral conflicts and there is no similarity with historical novels that describe good and bad conflicts. Cause and effect relationship is main element of plot that shadows on the story events .In âTehrna-e- Makhufâ, the author tries to violate the principles and cause to imbalance in natural events sequences with discomposing rational and experiential relationship and take action toward artificiality and unnatural suspension. In creating suspension by emphasis on incidences in some extremist cases, Kazemi tries to found the story based on the considerable sequence of events and this conduct reduces quality of the story significantly and leads to imbalance in rational and acceptable discipline.  Kazemi employs direct or reporting personification mostly. This novel lacks diversity in personage considerably .All characters speak in similar style and there is no particular speech style. The personification of Kazemi in âTehran-e-Makhufâ is continuous and interdependent in style of old tales and novel in European account. In some cases, he approaches to story characters specifications and in other cases, he distances from traditional personification due to familiarity with western countries particularly Russian and French writers .Indeed, it can be said that personification in âTehran-e- Makhufâ is passing from traditional to modern and western style. The characters of âTehran-e- Makhufâ are classified in two categories: the first category involves aristocrats and their purpose is power and wealth and prevention of any social shift. They are identified by traits like ârevelerâ, âhypocriteâ, âstingyâ and ârichâ .The characters like Siyavash Mirza, F.Saltaneh, Shazdeh and Ali Ashraf khan are in this group .The second category is identified by traits like ânobleâ, âloyalâ, âsufferer â and âpatientâ and they are common people. Characters like Farrokh, Javad, servant of Farrokh, Mahin and Efat are in this group and they are noble and humanely and good .The main and secondary personages are constant and static in this novel .They attend in the story without changing. All characters introduced by Kazemi in âTehran-e- Makhufâ are real and they reflect society realities .The characters reflect historical and social realities of particular place and tim

This is the author accepted manuscript. The final version is available from ISERThis work presents a modified concept of a tidal hydro-turbine (THT) used in desalination of sea water. THT can be used for the entire desalination process to derive energy from the intake of feed water, pre-treatment and producing required pressure for the system. The turbines extract energy from the tidal movement and run the water pump in order to provide the hydraulic pressure of the desalination unit. The performance of the turbine was assessed and its graphs were plotted using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling. Index terms: Tidal hydro-turbine, CFD, desalination, ANSYS FLUENT, Wave power

Polysulfone nanofiber-modified composite laminates: Investigation of mode-I fatigue behavior and damage mechanisms

In this study, the fatigue properties of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) composite laminates were investigated, specifically focusing on the incorporation of 100-µm polysulfone (PSU) nanofibers as an interleaving material. The PSU nanofibers were produced using the electrospinning technique. Both quasi-static and fatigue tests were conducted on both the reference specimens and the modified specimens to evaluate their mode-I performance. The results revealed an 85% increase in fracture toughness (GIC) under quasi-static testing. The fatigue plots revealed a noteworthy reduction in the fatigue crack growth rate (da/dN) for the modified specimens due to new toughening mechanisms. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) demonstrated that, the PSU nanofiber became melted and distributed in the interface, leading to phase separation and a sea-island structure. The presence of PSU microspheres caused crack deflection during delamination, which resulted in increased fracture and fatigue resistance.Materials and Environmen

The unpredictability of various forms of lyric literature, which is rooted in the limitless manifestations of human emotions, reinforces this thought that in the corner of various works, there is a possibility of emergence of a new and even unknown example of this type of literature in one of its many sub-branches. One of these possible examples is an original boasting written by Najmeddin Razi from the words of the Holy Prophet Mohammad. All aspects of the content and language of the mentioned piece have naturally been affected by the unique position of the boaster. The writing ability and the deep devotion of the author of Mersad ol-Ebad undoubtedly added to the impact of this hypothetical boasting. In this article, while extracting and introducing this special piece, the content and linguistic components that make this boasting stand out compared to other common boastings in Persian literature will be presented and analyzed considering the unprecedented centrality of its high-ranking speaker, the Holy Prophet Mohammad (pbuh)

Assessing demographic access to hip replacement surgery in the United Kingdom: a systematic review

This is the final version. Available on open access from BMC via the DOI in this recordAvailability of data and materials; The datasets used and/or analysed during the current study are available from the corresponding author on reasonable request.Persisting evidence suggests significant socioeconomic and sociodemographic inequalities in access to medical treatment in the UK. Consequently, a systematic review was undertaken to examine these access inequalities in relation to hip replacement surgery. Database searches were performed using MEDLINE, PubMed and Web of Science. Studies with a focus on surgical need, access, provision and outcome were of interest. Inequalities were explored in the context of sociodemographic characteristics, socioeconomic status (SES), geographical location and hospital-related variables. Only studies in the context of the UK were included. Screening of search and extraction of data were performed and 482 articles were identified in the database search, of which 16 were eligible. Eligible studies consisted of eight cross-sectional studies, seven ecological studies and one longitudinal study. Although socioeconomic inequality has somewhat decreased, lower SES patients and ethnic minority patients demonstrate increased surgical needs, reduced access and poor outcomes. Lower SES and Black minority patients were younger and had more comorbidities. Surgical need increased with age. Women had greater surgical need and provision than men. Geographical inequality had reduced in Scotland, but a north-south divide persists in England. Rural areas received greater provision relative to need, despite increased travel for care. In all, access inequalities remain widespread and policy change driven by research is needed

Analysing the performance of liquid cooling designs in cylindrical lithiumion batteries

This is the author accepted manuscript. The final version is available from Elsevier via the DOI in this recordThe thermal management of batteries for use in electric and hybrid vehicles is vital for safe operation and performance in all climates. Lithium-ion batteries are the focus of the electric vehicle market due to their high power density and life cycle longevity. To investigate the performance of two liquid cooling designs for lithium-ion battery packs, a series of numerical models were created. The effects of channel number, hole diameter, mass flow rate and inlet locations are investigated on a mini channel-cooled cylinder (MCC) and a channel-cooled heat sink (CCHS); those being the two most efficient concepts. The results show that the maximum temperature can be controlled to under 313 K for both designs with mass flow rates over 5E-05 kg/s, and maximum temperature variation can be controlled to less than 3.15 K for both designs. Considering both maximum temperature and temperature uniformity, the MCC design provides superior performance to the CCHS. The maximum temperature of the MCC is less than that of the CCHS but the temperature is less uniform. The MCC is a more complex design and so would incur greater manufacturing costs. But, it increases the efficiency of such systems for the rechargeable battery packs of the electric vehicle industry
