Kallmann's syndrome in a child--a case report
No full textThe patient was a male child 6 years and 6 months old. He visited our hospital because of bilateral cryptorchism and true phimosis. Since he was found to have fairly small testis, micropenis, and anosmia, endocrinological examination was performed. The plasma levels of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) were at the lower limit of normal values. LH gave a low reaction to the LH-releasing hormone test, while the reaction of FSH was near the lower limit of normal values. In the human chorionic gonadotropin test, there was no rise in the plasma levels of testosterone. Nor was there any reaction to the venous olfactory test with Alinamine (thiamine propyldisulfide). Accordingly, the patient was diagnosed as having Kallmann's syndrome. A search of the literature reveals few reports that deal with Kallmann's syndrome in infancy. Early diagnosis seems to be of significance, however, to institute early appropriate treatment to prompt the development of proper secondary sexual characteristics and ensure normal future fertility
Immature teratoma of the testis associated with Klinefelter's syndrome: a case report
No full textA case of testicular immature teratoma associated with Klinefelter's syndrome is reported. The patient was a 6-month-old boy and admitted with the chief complaint of painless mass in the left scrotum. Left high orchiectomy was performed and the pathological diagnosis was immature teratoma of the left testis. He was also diagnosed with Klinefelter's syndrome because chromosome analysis of the tumor tissue and peripheral blood leukocyte revealed 47, XXY, but the only congenital anomaly was overfolded helix. We discuss the association between the testicular tumor and Klinefelter's syndrome

The element -d- in the Lithuanian compounds belongs to the stems of the demonstrative pronoun *do/*de (OP din, dīgi) as the same element in OInd. tadā́, kadā́, yadā́. PRIMARY CARCINOMA OF THE URETER : A REPORT OF TEN CASES
No full textCarcinoma occurring primarily in the ureter has been increasingly reported, though used to be rare disease. We presented here ten cases of ureteral carcinoma, the incidence of which was 0.18% of outpatients in our urologic clinic [or four years. The age of patients was from 41 to 77-year-old with average age of 62.2 year and with male predominance. Most of the carcinoma located in the lower portion of the ureter. Hematuria and less frequently lumbar pain or pain on micturition were initial symptoms. Of the various urologic examinations, cystoscopy, DIP and RP were mostly available and contributory to diagnosis. The survival of the patients with ureteral carcinoma was not favorable, despite of radical surgical excision associated with chemotherapy, and the three-year survival rate was twenty per cent
Revisions of international consensus Fukuoka guidelines for the management of IPMN of the pancreas
No full textThe management of intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) continues to evolve. In particular, the indications for resection of branch duct IPMN have changed from early resection to more deliberate observation as proposed by the international consensus guidelines of 2006 and 2012. Another guideline proposed by the American Gastroenterological Association in 2015 restricted indications for surgery more stringently and recommended physicians to stop surveillance if no significant change had occurred in a pancreatic cyst after five years of surveillance, or if a patient underwent resection and a non-malignant IPMN was found. Whether or not it is safe to do so, as well as the method and interval of surveillance, has generated substantial debate. Based on a consensus symposium held during the meeting of the International Association of Pancreatology in Sendai, Japan, in 2016, the working group has revised the guidelines regarding prediction of invasive carcinoma and high-grade dysplasia, surveillance, and postoperative follow-up of IPMN. As the working group did not recognize the need for major revisions of the guidelines, we made only minor revisions and added most recent articles where appropriate. The present guidelines include updated information and recommendations based on our current understanding, and highlight issues that remain controversial or where further research is required. Right high orchiectomy was performed and the pathological diagnosis was cavernous hemangioma of the right testis. effect of dibutyryl-cyclic- AMP on erythropoiesis during ontogenetic development, the author studied syntheses of DNA, RNA and protein of erythroid cells in fetal liver, neonatal and adult bone marrows of rats. In the bone marrow of neonatal animals erythropoiesis was stimulated by the intraperitoneal injection of cyclic nucleotide with
enhanced DNA, RNA and protein syntheses of erythroid cells. Enhancing effect of dibutyryl-c-AMP on the erythropoiesis decreased gradually with advance of neonatal days. Autoradiographic observations revealed that in erythoid cells isolated from fetal liver and neonatal
bone marrows, DNA-, RNA- and protein-snythesis was markedly
stimulated by incubating with cyclic nucleotide, but not in those from adult bone marrow. Discussion was made on the changes in the regulatory mechanism of erythropoiesis according to the transition of hematopoietic organs during development.</p
