Functions of Female Characters in the Works of Kawakami Mieko
The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to analyze female characters from selected works by the contemporary Japanese author Kawakami Mieko based on the text in which they appear. Selected works are Breasts and eggs, Heaven, All the lovers in the night and Ms Ice Sandwich. When analyzing the characters, selected narratological structures are used. The analysis primarily focuses only on female characters and then focuses on the very comparison of these characters and their functions in the text

Jane Austen and Kanai Mieko: Comic sisterhood
The article examines the literary works of some Japanese writers, including Kanai Mieko, with emphasis on the comic sisterhood that demonstrate overt or subtle affiliation with English novelist Jane Austen. It states that Japanese writer Mieko skillfully subverts the patriarchal canonization of Austen, and creates laughter that empowers women in her works. Some of her fictions that focus on comic sisterhood include "The Chronicle of Love" and "The Girls They Talk About.

Cieľom tejto bakalárskej práce je analyzovať ženské postavy z vybraných diel od súčasnej japonskej autorky Kawakami Mieko na základe textu, v ktorom sa objavujú. Vybranými dielami sú Letný príbeh, Nebo, Všetci milenci v noci a Slečna Ľadový Sendvič. Pri analýze postáv dochádza k využívaniu vybraných naratologických štruktúr.
