Computational Aspects of Extending the Shapley Value to Coalitional Games with Externalities
No full textUntil recently, computational aspects of the Shapley value were only studied under the assumption that there are no externalities from coalition formation, i.e., that the value of any coalition is independent of other coalitions in the system. However, externalities play a key role in many real-life situations and have been extensively studied in the game-theoretic and economic literature. In this paper, we consider the issue of computing extensions of the Shapley value to coalitional games with externalities proposed by Myerson [21], Pham Do and Norde [23], and McQuillin [17]. To facilitate efficient computation of these extensions, we propose a new representation for coalitional games with externalities, which is based on weighted logical expressions. We demonstrate that this representation is fully expressive and, sometimes, exponentially more concise than the conventional partition function game model. Furthermore, it allows us to compute the aforementioned extensions of the Shapley value in time linear in the size of the input

No full textThe dataset is a supplement to the article that will soon be submitted for review. DESCRIPTION:The dataset consists of Absolute Orientation Sensor (BNO055) measurements during the transportation of an object by a UR3e robot. The trajectory of the robot's movement includes lifting the object to a height of about 200 mm, horizontal displacement for a distance of 400 mm, and lowering by 200 mm. The transfer procedure begins with the closing of the jaws and ends with their opening. The procedure is analogous to the one outlined in the following dataset:Białek, Marcin, 2023, "Processed measurement data on grip forces during object transportation by a robot using gripper with a MR fluid-filled cushions", https://doi.org/10.18150/B2KCKC, RepOD.The experiment was conducted for three values of acceleration and velocity of the robot joints. The dollar auction with spiteful players
No full textThe dollar auction is an auction model used to analyse the dynamics of conflict escalation. In this paper, we analyse the course of an auction when participating players are spiteful, i.e., they are motivated not only by their own profit, but also by the desire to hurt the opponent. We investigate this model for the complete information setting, both for the standard scenario and for the situation where auction starts with nonzero bids. Our results give us insight into the possible effects of meanness onto conflict escalation

Get PDFThe subject of this article is the issue of religiousness in the poetry of Marcin Świetlicki. The works by the author of Niskie pobudki (Low Motives) are entangled in a space of tran¬scendence by (among others) utilizing biblical themes — Cain and Abel, the creation of the world, Christmas, Jesus Christ, salvation — which accompany the author of Pieśń profana (The Profaner’s Song) ever since his first book, published in 1992. These result in the impression of religiousness of the poet’s works. However’ most common dogmas of Christian faith (since this is the only faith the poet refers to), as well as notions of the almighty, all-powerful, mer¬ciful God-the-Father or God the Creator are contradicted in this poetry. The author endues everyday, common things with holiness and divinity, while reducing the existence of God only to humans (thereby, to himself as well) and space available to them
Medical Malpractice Liability in the United States of America in the Light of the 19th Century Origins of the American Legal System
No full textThe American model of medical malpractice liability has been the subject of lively public and scientific debate for years. This system is characterized by a large number of lawsuits against doctors and very high damages awarded in such cases. In turn, these phenomena contribute to the occurrence of so-called medical malpractice crisis. It seems that an important place in the proper understanding of the American model of physicians’ liability for medical malpractice may be the historical analysis of legal norms regulating this matter. The text claims that the modern specificity of the system of liability for medical malpractice is closely related to the development of American law in its formative period in the nineteenth century. The article indicates four features of the legal system developed at that time, which today are identified as responsible for a large number of lawsuits and high compensation in malpractice trials. These include, in particular, linking medical liability to the tort law regime, domination of the civil law dimension of liability for medical errors, the role of the jury in lawsuits for medical malpractice, and the method of remuneration of attorneys in such cases.
