Sub Rosa Volume I: Bloom in Secret
Some people read scholarly articles, others prefer graphic novels, and most prefer a good novel. Every novel comes uniquely designed by an author, giving readers characters, drama, and a carefully crafted plot that draws them in. For my senior honors project, I decided to create a novel filled with mystery, love, and an assortment of carefully selected flowers.Choosing to incorporate flowers into the core concept of my novel stemmed from having grown up surrounded by them; my grandma has a really green thumb. I use the secret language of flowers throughout my novel to communicate hidden messages to those who look for them, as well as my protagonist Iris. To do this, I have researched different floral arrangements, learning the inner-workings of the murder mystery genre, and allowing myself to work through the creative process. Straying away from my business administration major, writing a fictional novel has allowed me to grow creatively
Original picturebooks and Houghton Mifflin anthologies: a comparative analysis.
This study examines the Houghton Mifflin reading anthologies to
determine whether the story selections are “authentic” as the publisher claims.
Since picturebooks are a unique literary art form whereby the illustrations, text,
and peritext are interconnected and contribute to the aesthetic experience of the
reader, any alteration modifies the author’s intentions and impacts the reading
experience. A comparative analysis of the original picturebooks with the
corresponding story selections in the anthologies concludes that the anthologized
versions are not authentic as the publisher contends. The significant extent of
these alterations distorts the author-reader relationship and diminishes the
aesthetic reading experience. The effect of these abridged anthologies is farreaching since the majority of school districts in the state of California have
adopted the Houghton Mifflin reading program
Review of The Price of Poverty: Money, Work and Culture in the Mexican American Barrio
Even though these two communities shared similar experiences with poverty, they differed in their responses and expectations. To explain why Chávez residents view job opportunities as a glass half empty and Guadalupe residents view them as half full the author relies on theories of transnational immigration and social networks. US-born Mexican Americans of Chávez who faced limited options turned to "hustling," combining lowwage work with crime and public assistance to make ends meet. Guadalupe's Mexican immigrants worked multiple jobs or "overworked" to send remittances "back home" and save enough money to retire in their homeland. As [Daniel Dohan] suggests, "Social network connections to Mexico gave the dollar a value in Guadalupe that it did not have in Chávez, where dollars were earned and spent exclusively in the United States." (91) The negative aspects of transnational networks were the enormous demands and expectations imposed on families that took an emotional and physical toll. Remittances could also impede economic mobility over time, especially if families decided to remain in the United States.
Així mateix, aquest document s’elabora també amb la finalitat de deixar una programació viable de psicomotricitat al centre educatiu.[eng] Psychomotricity is an educational idea widely used in primary schools and of increasing importance in the field of Early Childhood Education. With it, the child is conceived as an individual capable of building his cognitive, motor and affective development through the mastery of the progress of his cos, his person and his surroundings.
The purpose of this work is to present a way to carry out psychomotor skills in infant classrooms following the model of the author Bernard Aucouturier, as well as to make a proposal for a trimestral program focused on activities related to representation. In addition, this document is also elaborated with the purpose of making a viable programming of psychomotor skills in the educational center

Prevalence and clinical association of gene mutations through multiplex mutation testing in patients with NSCLC: Results from the ETOP Lungscape Project
Background: Reported prevalence of driver gene mutations in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is highly variable and clinical correlations are emerging. Using NSCLC biomaterial and clinical data from the European Thoracic Oncology Platform Lungscape iBiobank, we explore the epidemiology of mutations and association to clinicopathologic features and patient outcome (relapse-free survival, time-to-relapse, overall survival). Methods: Clinically annotated, resected stage I-III NSCLC FFPE tissue was assessed for gene mutation using a microfluidicsbased multiplex PCR platform. Mutant-allele detection sensitivity is>1% for most of the 150 (13 genes) mutations covered in the multiplex test. Results: Multiplex testing has been carried out in 2063 (76.2%) of the 2709 Lungscape cases (median follow-up 4.8 years). FFPE samples mostly date from 2005 to 2008, yet recently extracted DNA quality and quantity was generally good. Average DNA yield/case was 2.63 mg; 38 cases (1.4%) failed QC and were excluded from study; 95.1% of included cases allowed the complete panel of mutations to be tested. Most common were KRAS, MET, EGFR and PIK3CA mutations with overall prevalence of 23.0%, 6.8%, 5.4% and 4.9%, respectively. KRAS and EGFR mutations were significantly more frequent in adenocarcinomas: PIK3CA in squamous cell carcinomas. MET mutation prevalence did not differ between histology groups. EGFR mutations were found predominantly in never smokers; KRAS in current/former smokers. For all the above mutations, there was no difference in outcome between mutated and non-mutated cases. Conclusion: Archival FFPE NSCLC material is adequate for multiplex mutation analysis. In this large, predominantly European, clinically annotated stage I-III NSCLC cohort, none of the mutations characterized showed prognostic significance. © The Author 2017
The given article offers an analysis of the amendments made to the Constitution of Russia in 2020. The author conducted an analysis of the reasons of the past reform, its course and features. The author comes to the conclusion that the shortcomings of the 1993 Constitution, adopted in the context of a political crisis, doomed it to change. In the new socio-political conditions of the 2010-20’s, the Russian authorities decided for the first time to establish communication with the society, which forced them to propose a procedure for a popular vote on amendments and support the value of “unconditional sovereignty” as a goal of constitutional changes. Having received approval to change the Constitution, the political regime of Vladimir Putin, being a compromise between the transnational and national elites, announced a new stage of state-building. Will the opportunity become a reality? The answer to this question depends on the future socio-economic course of the Russian authorities.

The human myeloproliferative disorders: molecular pathogenesis and clonal heterogeneity
The classical myeloproliferative disorders (MPD), comprising essential thrombocythaemia (ET), polycythaemia vera (PV) and idiopathic myelofibrosis (IMF), are clonal premalignant haematopoietic neoplasms associated with activating mutations in signalling pathway molecules and a variable tendency to develop acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). This thesis examined genotype-phenotype associations of JAK2 and MPL mutations, the presence of clonal diversity in the MPD and the genetic events associated with progressive disease.
Mutations in MPL were identified in 4% of ET and 7% of IMF but not in PV. Three different acquired MPL mutations were identified, one of which had been reported as an inherited allele. Although MPL mutations did not delineate a distinct clinical or histopathological subtype of ET, molecular testing provides an important new tool in the diagnostic armamentarium. Clones homozygous for the JAK2 V617F mutation were identified in female but not male patients with ET, suggesting that gender differences may be important in the determination of disease phenotype. In patients with two acquired genetic alterations, a signalling pathway mutation and a cytogenetic abnormality were usually present within the same clone. By contrast, coexistence of two signalling pathway mutations indicated the presence of biclonal disease that in two patients had arisen independently and not from a shared founder clone.
RAS mutations were identified as potential cooperating events in patients with JAK2 or MPL mutant IMF. In patients developing AML following a JAK2 V617F-positive MPD, those with V617F-positive leukaemia had progressed via an accelerated phase of disease and harboured acquired alterations of RUNX1 or EVI1. V617F-negative leukaemias tended to follow directly from ET or PV, and loss of the JAK2 mutation by reversion to wild-type due to mitotic recombination, gene deletion or gene conversion was excluded. The thesis concludes with a discussion of how clonal heterogeneity can be integrated into current models of MPD disease pathogenesis
Kantian moral philosophy has usually been associated with moral rigorism. According to this position, moral duties must be fulfilled unconditionally. Kant claims that we must fulfill the moral duty of truthfulness even in the face of a murderer who asks us about the whereabouts of someone who takes refuge in our house. The aim of this investigation is to make a criticism of Kantian moral rigorism. To this purpose, I have divided the text in three parts. In the first part, I present Kant's position on lying (chapter 1), and after analyzing the procedure of categorical imperative I explain in which sense this author is committed to moral rigorism (chapter 2). In the second part, I show that moral rigorism is based on the conception of the divided self. According to this model, agency is an exercise of control by a rational self that must control the non-rational passive part (chapter 3). Following to Bernard Williams, I show that this model leads to the problem of personal integrity, since sometimes morality requires us to act against our character and against that which configures our integrity (chapter 4). In the third part, I examine Christine Korsgaard's response to the problem of integrity . She rejects the model of the divided self and proposes instead the constitutional model. According to this model, being an agent is only possible when it is constituted as an integrated whole, and it is only possible to be integrated if there is a commitment to morality. In this way, she can articulate a response to the problem of integrity without abandoning what I call “the thesis of the normative priority of morality” (chapter 5). Contrary to this position, and following Josep Corbí, I show that the constitutional model is still committed to the conception of the divided self (chapter 6.1). In addition, I also make a critique of the thesis of the normative priority of morality (6.2 and 6.3). I conclude that Kantian moral philosophy , whether in its classical version or in Korsgaard's contemporary version, cannot respond to the problem of personal integrity because it unjustifiably disregards the normative value of practical non-moral phenomena.COLCIENCIASDilemas morales y agencia.
