Synthesis of lithium superionic conductor by growth of a nanoglass within mesoporous silica SBA-15 template
Nanodimensional silica based glasses containing alkali ions have recently been grown using suitable templates. These have shown electrical properties drastically different from those of their bulk counterpart. We have synthesized silicophosphate glasses having lithium ions with concentrations of 15–35 mole% Li2O within mesoporous silica SBA-15 (Santa Barbara amorphous-15) comprising of pores of diameter ~5 nm. The nanoglasses are characterized by electrical conductivities 5–6 orders of magnitude higher than those of the corresponding bulk glasses. These properties are attributed to the presence of a larger free volume in the nanoglasses as compared to their bulk states. The nanocomposites with 35 mole% Li2O exhibit an electrical conductivity of ~3 10−4 S · cm−1 at around room temperature. The activation energy for Li+ ion migration has been estimated from the conductivity-temperature variation to be 0.078 eV. These nanocomposites are believed to be ideally suited for the fabrication of solid state lithium ion batteries. We have also explored the efficiency of silicophosphate glass powders as possible electrode materials. Glass of composition 70SiO2/30P2O5 was prepared by using Pluronic P-123 tri-block copolymer along with suitable precursor sols. Cyclic voltammetric and galvanostatic charge/discharge measurements were carried out on the samples prepared in combination with suitable conductive fillers using a two-electrode system. These exhibited a high specific capacitance of 356 F g−1 making them ideally suitable as electrode materials for making a lithium ion solid state battery system
The writing : the question unspeakable of Maurice Blanchot
Is the writing of Maurice Blanchot determined by its philosophical thought or literary thought? Because of his dual roles, critic and novelist, Blanchot’s writing seems to display two possible thoughts: philosophical and literary thoughts. Philosophical thought is the aim on uncovering the truth. As a result, the writing becomes an implement to represent the dialectical thinking. Every chosen word must correspond to what the thinker stated so that the reader can follow it. Literary thought bases on transforming the original fact. A novelist asks the reader to look for the second meaning in his writing, in other words, what he wrote is not equal to what he meant. Thus what is written (by the author) is not yet written, but is waiting for written (by readers). There are two kinds of writing: one tells the truth, the other tells the lie. How can readers distinguish the reality from the writing of Blanchot? Can readers believe Blanchot’s literary criticism while he is also a novelist along with those rhetorical writing skills? One questing would Blanchot never confuse between his double roles. Accordingly, this thesis will discuss the indeterminacy within the writing of Maurice Blanchot
Clodius and Milo: Political Pressure of Crowd in Late-Republican Rome
Based on the preserved ancient sources and relevant historiography, the author of the work depicts the influence of Clodius and Milo on the political life of the late republican Rome. The author concludes that Clodius and Milo used an instrumentalized crowd and armed gangs to achive political goals. The support of the crowd has been ensured by popular measures, such as the law on the free distribution of grain, the renewal of the colegis and organization of public games. The primary purpose of the political pressure of the crowd and armed gangs was to exert pressure on the courts and assemblies to act in accordance with Clodius and Milo's politics. In addition, the city crowd and armed gangs of Clodius and Milo used political and physical clash with their opponents. Unlike Milo, who relied heavily on armed gangs, Clodius relied on the city crowd and armed gangs to achive political goals. Clodius worked in line with the goals of the populares, while Milo was an exhibit of the political option of the optimates. The political pressure of the crowd and armed gangs proved to be effective weapons in conflict with political opponents, but by itself was not sufficient, and Clodius and Milo ofthe relied on the support of prominent politicians of late Roman Republic such as Cicero, Caesar, Crasus and Pompeius
Methodological Ethics in the Evaluation of Non-Market Goods Allocations
The ethical basis for economic evaluations of alternative nonmarket goods allocations is examined in terms of the treatment of property rights and intergenerational effects. The author argues that the theoretical and empirical conventions commonly adopted by resource economists are ethically biased and these ethical issues are worthy of more extensive debate

Detecting and Analyzing I/O Performance Regressions
Regression testing can be done by re-executing a test suite on different software versions and comparing the outcome. For functional testing, the outcome of such tests is either pass (correct behaviour) or fail (incorrect behaviour). For non-functional testing, such as performance testing, this is more challenging as correct and incorrect are not clearly defined concepts for these types of testing. In this paper, we present an approach for detecting and analyzing I/O performance regressions. Our method is supplemental to existing profilers and its goal is to analyze the effect of source code changes on the performance of a system. In this paper, we focus on analyzing the amount of I/O writes being done. The open source implementation of our approach, SPECTRAPERF, is available for download. We evaluate our approach in a field user study on Tribler, an open source peer-to-peer client and its decentralized solution for synchronizing messages, Dispersy. In this evaluation, we show that our approach can guide the performance optimization process, as it helps developers to find performance bottlenecks on the one hand, and on the other allows them to validate the effect of performance optimizations. In addition, we perform a feasibility study on Django, the most popular Python project on Github, to demonstrate our applicability on other projects. NiO Nanoparticle Synthesis Using a Triblock Copolymer: Enhanced Magnetization and High Specific Capacitance of Electrodes Prepared from the Powder
Nickel oxide nanoparticles of diameter ∼21 nm were prepared by a sol–gel method using the triblock copolymer poly(ethylene glycol)-b-(propylene glycol)-b-(ethylene glycol). X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis showed the presence of Ni2+ and Ni3+ ions in the material. The electrical conductivity of this material was due to small polaron hopping between Ni2+ and Ni3+ sites. The magnetization shown by these nanoparticles was much higher than that reported in the literature. This is ascribed to the presence of Ni3+ ions with uncompensated spin moments. Spin-glass behavior was exhibited by the material at 10.7 K. The electrochemical characterization of electrodes comprising of these NiO nanoparticles using cyclic voltammetric measurements showed a specific capacitance value of 810 F/g, the highest reported for this material. These materials will thus form one of the useful multifunctional systems
