Melanotaenia nigrans Richardson Blackbanded Rainbowfish Extremely rare within the Kimberley region, Melanotaenia nigrans is only known from one small tributary in Dominic Creek near the mouth of the King Edward River (Fig. 21), and although WAM records suggest it is present in Yampi Sound, recent examination of these specimens by the senior author revealed them to be M. australis. Analyzing the effects of U.S. agricultural policy on Mexican agricultural markets using the MEXAGMKTS model
This paper uses results from simulations of the FAIRMODEL, USAGMKTS, and MEXAGMKTS models to analyze the effects of changes in U.S. agricultural policy on Mexican agricultural markets. The author concludes that under a scenario of trade liberalization for Mexico, Mexican agricultural production, prices, and trade are quite sensitive to agricultural policy changes in the U.S. The genesis of the research project was the perception that agricultural policies in Mexico (and many other countries) are often second best responses to the negative side effects of broad economic policies aimed primarily at macroeconomic and international trade objectives. The paper also discusses the role of agriculture in Mexican economic policy, and MEXAGMKTS, FAIR and USAGMKTS models. Abstract
With the Food and Drug Administration and other worldwide regulatory authorities’ approval of ipilimumab (Yervoy), sipuleucel-T (Provenge), nivolumab (Opdivo), and pembrolizumab (Keytruda), oncologic therapy has now moved into noncancer cell targets within the immune system. For many nonimmunologists, understanding how these vastly different therapies work to improve survival, like no other therapies have in the past, is a challenge. The present report reviews the normal function of the immune system, how cancers escape the normal immune system, and how these new therapies improve immune system reactions against cancers.</jats:p

Haemorrhagic kidney syndrome of Atlantic salmon, Salmo salar L.
This report describes a new syndrome affecting farmed Atlantic salmon on the Canadian east coast that has resulted in increased morbidity and mortality in affected stocks. The major pathological findings are apparent only microscopically and include renal interstitial haemorrhage and acute tubular necrosis and tubular casting. As a result, the disease has become known as haemorrhagic kidney syndrome (HKS). Affected fish are lethargic and anorectic, and lark external lesions. Clinically, HKS fish are anaemic, hypoproteinaemic and hyperosmolalic, with increased serum concentrations of sodium and chloride. At necropsy, internal changes ranged from apparently normal to include one or several of the following: swelling and/or patchy reddening of the kidney, pale gills, exophthalmos, serosanguinous ascites, darkening of the posterior intestine and splenomegaly. Ultrastructurally, viral inclusions were found in the cytoplasm of erythrocytes of HKS fish, and there were unusual electron-dense inclusions within the tips of renal tubular microvilli of HKS fish. The significance and relevance of the ultrastructural findings to HKS are unknown. Virus isolation was attempted using CHSE, RTG-2, FH-10, BE and EPC cell lines; no virus was isolated. Bacteriological analysis failed to reveal significant pathogens. Analysis of tissues for heavy metals and pesticides was negative. Assays for clostridial toxins, lipopolysaccharide and verotoxins were negative. Toxotes chatareus
Toxotes chatareus (Hamilton) Sevenspot Archerfish Within Western Australia, the species appears to be typically restricted to the northern and eastern Kimberley (Fig. 38) and collections suggest that they are in the Fitzroy, Calder, Prince Regent (brackish water below King Cascade), Lawley, Carson (and lower King Edward), Durack, Pentecost and Ord River. The only known specimens reported from the Fitzroy River (WAM P.2620-001, and P.25434-004), which were examined by the senior author, correspond to T. kimberleyensis.
