    A low-power minaturised intracranial pressure monitoring microsystem

    © 2017 Mohammad Meraj GhanbariThe ultimate goal of this work is realisation of a fully implantable chronic intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring system. Due to the required mm-scale form factor of the implantable device, the available power is scarce. This calls for investigation of new circuit and sensor integration techniques to decrease the total power consumption of the system down to a few hundreds of nano watts. So the main focus of this work is design of an ultra-low power integrated circuit (IC) for measuring ICP. Power consumption minimization of the sensing system proposed in this work paves the way for integration of an RF-power scavenger or biological fuel cells. The proposed sensing system also takes full advantage of Invensense MEMS-CMOS process to heterogeneously integrate the sensor and interface. This integration type requires no post-processing and results in sub-pF sensor-interface parasitic interconnection capacitance Cp which is an order of magnitude smaller than previously reported Cp’s

    Interleaved Multilevel Boost Converter With Minimal Voltage Multiplier Components for High-Voltage Step-Up Applications

    In this article, a new interleaved multilevel boost converter (interleaved-MBC) is suggested with minimal voltage multiplier (VM) cells for high-voltage step-up applications. The interleaved-MBC is derived in such a way that the maximum utilization of the VM circuit operation can be achieved by the interleaved structure. Furthermore, compared to existing multilevel interleaved converters, the reduced number of capacitors and diode with equal voltage rating makes it more attractive. Similar to the existing multilevel converter, the feature of the interleaved-MBC provides the extension of the number of levels to achieve the necessary voltages just by adding similar capacitor-diode stages (single capacitor and single diode are required to increase the stage by one). The features like continuous input current, low-input ripples, high voltage conversion ratio, and reduced stress on devices make the proposed converter more suitable for the voltage step-up applications, such as dc link, hybrid distribution systems, hybrid photovoltaic systems, etc. The detailed analysis of the converter is carried out by considering the nonidealities in the power circuit. The operation of the interleaved-MBC is presented for continuous and discontinuous conduction modes with boundary conditions. The components selection criterion and the comparison of converters are presented with suitable discussions.     Formulation of professional morals’ criteria for national media based on islamic training and focused on Meraj alsa’da book

    One of the most important side of Islam Religion is attracting human being toward morality. Religious moralistic media is the media not only be aware of all requirements for modern media but also using that element for propagating morals based on religious doctrine. Accordingly, formulating professional moral criteria for national media based on Islamic doctrine is significant and necessary that considered as the main target in this study. There are four ways to elaborate morality discussions: philosophical, mystical, narrative and integrative approach that is selected for accomplishing moral discussion due to Islam and is followed via Meraj alsa'da book, written by Mola Ahmed Naraghi. The method in this study is "grounded theory" approach. Accordingly, moral criteria of national media are firstly extracted from 120 sources of related era to morality and media and based on four main elements such as informing, training, guiding and entertainment, then the statements for this study is achieved by paving the path of triple parameter including open oriented and selective coding and finding concepts and appropriate items in a way that shows professional moral criteria for national media due to Islam doctrine. Accordingly, it is concluded that the central item for moral criteria of national media is justice and Islamic morality

    RoMEO Studies 4: An analysis of Journal publishers' Copyright Agreements

    This article is the fourth in a series of six emanating from the UK JISC-funded RoMEO Project (Rights Metadata for Open archiving). It describes an analysis of 80 scholarly journal publishers’ copyright agreements with a particular view to their effect on author self-archiving. 90% of agreements asked for copyright transfer and 69% asked for it prior to refereeing the paper. 75% asked authors to warrant that their work had not been previously published although only two explicitly stated that they viewed self-archiving as prior publication. 28.5% of agreements provided authors with no usage rights over their own paper. Although 42.5% allowed self-archiving in some format, there was no consensus on the conditions under which self-archiving could take place.
