V diplomskem delu smo pojasnili podobo blagovne znamke kot večplasten dimenzionalni konstrukt, ki ga sprožijo spoznanja, čustva, simboli, vrednote in stališča potrošnikov. S pomočjo spletne ankete raziskali odnos generacije Z do slovenske blagovne znamke Afrodita in globalno znane blagovne znamke Nivea. In the diploma work we explained the image of brands as a multifaceted dimensional construct triggered by knowledge, emotions, symbols, values and attitudes of consumers. With the help of online surveys explored the relationship of Generation Z to the Slovenian cosmetics company Afrodita and the global cosmetics company Nivea. Head for the analysis, which is an additional reason to continue the important development of brands as a special component for creating a marketing web is to create lasting competitive advantages. Brand image plays an important role in the development of cosmetic brands, since the brand is associated with the reputation and the credibility of the company. In this paper, we therefore analyzed and defined the difference between a product and a brand, the development of Slovenian brands compared to foreign brands, the meaning and function of brands in the cosmetics industry. We also defined visible elements of the cosmetic brand Afrodita and Nivea, as well as the characteristics of Generation Z. We have also researched the comparison between the brand image of Afrodita and Nivea among generation Z. The aim of the diploma thesis is to explain the internal meaning of Afrodita and Nivea from the generation Z\u27s point of view

Extended approach for modelling fixed-flow variable speed pumps

    No full text
The original algorithm development of direct calculation pump speed by Todini, Tryby, Wu and Walski (2007) was to maintain a target hydraulic head while this paper extends the algorithm and its implementation for direct calculation of pump speed to deliver the fixed flow via a variable speed pump. The fixed flow pumping is desirable in practical conditions where a fixed amount of flow needs to be supplied to the system to meet demand and/or fill a storage tank. The implementation shows that the extended algorithm is very straightforward based upon the original development. An example system is tested to verify the enhanced development and also to demonstrate the application of modeling the fixed flow variable speed pumps

The Benefits of Being Economics Professor A (and not Z)

Alphabetic name ordering on multi-authored academic papers, which is the convention in the economics discipline and various other disciplines, is to the advantage of people whose last name initials are placed early in the alphabet. As it turns out, Professor A, who has been a first author more often than Professor Z, will have published more articles and experienced afaster growth rate over the course of her career as a result of reputation and visibility. Moreover, authors know that name ordering matters and indeed take ordering seriously: Several characteristics of an author group composition determine the decision to deviate from the default alphabetic name order to a significant extent.performance measurement, incentives, economists, name ordering

    Final word on Jersey Dutch

    No full text
In this article, William Z. Shetter compares and contrasts the dialects that developed between different Dutch colonies in the New World. He explores in-depth the nuances of Jersey Dutch, and provides theories to explain how Dutch and colonial languages blended. The article is reprinted from American Speech, December 1958, Volum XXXIII, No. 4

Semiconductor Laser in Distributed Optical Feedback Regime

    No full text
In this work, we first analyse the behaviour of semiconductor laser in the presence of weak-to-moderate feedback from a single (lumped) and double external cavity setting. Analysis of laser diode in dynamic double cavity configuration shows that the dynamic double cavity does not disturb the stability of the laser device, but it introduces a considerable shift in the emission frequency that is directly related to the feedback strength and the relative phase difference between the phase of the two mirrors, and the phase of electric field inside the laser diode. Conditions for maximum and minimum impact of the laser emission wavelength have been derived. Addressing the issue of distributed optical feedback, optical feedback produced by more than two external mirrors has been also studied. To this aim we have first generalized the Lang and Kobayashi deterministic rate equations model to arbitrary number of external reflectors and provide the corresponding steady-state solution, which is done for the first time. To the best of our knowledge, this kind of study is carried out for the first time

Risk assessment of water supply interruptions due to mechanical pipe failures

    No full text
The mechanical pipe failures (i.e. pipe bursts) in Water Distribution Systems (WDS) typically cause severe interruptions in supply to the nearby properties and a partial reduction in supply to the customers living in a wider area (usually as a consequence of a reduced system pressure in the area). A procedure for the quantitative risk assessment of water supply under such conditions is presented here. The risk is defined as the product of the probability of failure (i.e. pipe burst(s)) and the consequence of that failure (quantity of water not delivered). The risk assessment procedure uses the recently developed pressure head-driven hydraulic model used to perform Extended Period Simulation (EPS). The new model is capable of automatic detection of topological network changes due to pipe(s) mechanical failures. The model is run iteratively to integrate the supply interruption risk under a number of different pipe failure scenarios. The relevant risk measures are defined at two levels (network node and whole system) to capture different spatial scales of the problem. The procedure is tested and verified on a real-life case study involving the water distribution system of Apulia (Italy). It is envisaged that the risk assessment procedure developed and presented here can be effectively used as a part of a decision support system for planning maintenance and/or rehabilitation activities of a water distribution system

XML Implementation of Role Based Control in Healthcare Adhoc Networks

As mobile adhoc networks (MANETs) are becoming popular for a variety of applications, so are the issues engulfing corresponding implementations. In this paper, a healthcare application is described for the environment where normal network connectivity may not be available hence adhoc networking of small scale healthcare units and corresponding devices becomes necessary. Different roles of such units are discussed to develop policy framework to facilitate role based access control conformant access. Furthermore, implementation of such access control within a typical healthcare environment is investigated

Single image super resolution technique: An extension to true color images

    No full text
The super-resolution (SR) technique reconstructs a high-resolution image from single or multiple low-resolution images. SR has gained much attention over the past decade, as it has significant applications in our daily life. This paper provides a new technique of a single image super-resolution on true colored images. The key idea is to obtain the super-resolved image from observed low-resolution images. A proposed technique is based on both the wavelet and spatial domain-based algorithms by exploiting the advantages of both of the algorithms. A back projection with an iterative method is implemented to minimize the reconstruction error and for noise removal wavelet-based de-noising method is used. Previously, this technique has been followed for the grayscale images. In this proposed algorithm, the colored images are taken into account for super-resolution. The results of the proposed method have been examined both subjectively by observation of the results visually and objectively by considering the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and mean squared error (MSE), which gives significant results and visually better in quality from the bi-cubic interpolation technique
