Primitive abundant and weird numbers with many prime factors

International audienceWe give an algorithm to enumerate all primitive abundant numbers (briefly, PANs) with a fixed Ω\Omega (the number of prime factors counted with their multiplicity), and explicitly find all PANs up to Ω=6\Omega=6, count all PANs and square-free PANs up to Ω=7\Omega=7 and count all odd PANs and odd square-free PANs up to Ω=8\Omega=8. We find primitive weird numbers (briefly, PWNs) with up to 16 prime factors, improving the previous results of [Amato-Hasler-Melfi-Parton] where PWNs with up to 6 prime factors have been given. The largest PWN we find has 14712 digits: as far as we know, this is the largest example existing, the previous one being 5328 digits long [Melfi]. We find hundreds of PWNs with exactly one square odd prime factor: as far as we know, only five were known before. We find all PWNs with at least one odd prime factor with multiplicity greater than one and Ω=7\Omega = 7 and prove that there are none with Ω<7\Omega < 7. Regarding PWNs with a cubic (or higher) odd prime factor, we prove that there are none with Ω7\Omega\le 7, and we did not find any with larger Ω\Omega. Finally, we find several PWNs with 2 square odd prime factors, and one with 3 square odd prime factors. These are the first such examples

    Right robotic-assisted thoracoscopic lower lobectomy

The right lower lobectomy is considered one of the easier resection operations performed by an open technique. The posterior approach for the video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) version of this is similar, as instruments and staplers pass up the fissure. When moving to the robotic platform with the camera and instruments entering from caudal ports, the equal view of the lobe, fissure and both hila allow for a more balanced operation. This article aims to discuss the technology of robotic-assisted surgery and the optimal surgical techniques to enable precise and safe resection of the lower lobe

Robotically Assisted Lobectomy: Learning Curve and Complications

    No full text
The past two decades have witnessed a revolutionary transition in surgical technique and technology with the development of minimally invasive approaches. Many advantages were obtained by using video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery: less surgical trauma and pain, shorter hospital stay, and satisfactory cosmetic results. Limitations still remain, however, because of impaired vision, restricted instrument-maneuverability, unstable camera platform, and poor ergonomics for the surgeon. Some of the more prominent limitations involve the technical and mechanical nature of the equipment. This article describes technical aspects, learning curve, and complications in the field of robotic lobectomy

Implementing successful systematic Patient Reported Outcome and Experience Measures (PROMs and PREMs) in robotic oncological surgery—The role of physicians

    No full text
Patient Reported Outcome and Experience Measures (PROMs and PREMs) play an increasingly important role in monitoring the quality of the oncological pathway. The aim of this study is to describe the case of five hospitals a year after the adoption of PROMs and PREMs for robotic oncological colorectal surgery in Tuscany and to investigate how the clinicians can impact the process of implementation and the efficacy of such measures. We used 14 months of data from the five robotic centers in Tuscany. Above all, the physician's personal motivation to improve the treatment of patients, the teamwork, and the possibility to use data for research purposes proved to be the essential factors for their engagement and the successful implementation of patient reported measures. Physicians play a key role in the adoption of systematic PROMs and PREMs. The higher their level of engagement, the higher the collection success, both in terms of number of patients enrolled and response rates. Moreover, the collection of patient reported measures may become part of physicians' daily practice and may lead to a change in their relationship and communication with patients, as clinicians accept to have their job reviewed and are not afraid to be evaluated by their patients
