No full textvon Friedrich Meisner ; gezeichnet von Gabriel Ludwig Lory; radiert von Daniel BurgdorferKann laut "Vorrede" als neue, allerdings wesentlich veränderte Ausgabe der 1801 erschienen "Alpenreise" (siehe dort) betrachtet werden. Das Buch ist "nicht für allzu junge Knaben bestimmt", entsprechend richtet sich die Anrede nicht mehr wie 1801 an "Kinder", sondern an "liebe Freunde" oder "junge Leser". Wörtliche Übereinstimmungen mit der früheren Ausgabe sind selten. Die Sachinformationen sind genauer und ausführlicher, so werden z.B. die lateinischen Pflanzennamen genannt und es wird eine neue, der früheren Ausgabe widersprechende Lawinentheorie präsentiert. Grossen Wert legt der Autor auf die ökonomische Erschliessung der Schweiz durch die "Wohltat" guter Landstrassen oder durch die Korrektur der Linth. Mit dem in der "Vorrede" enthaltenen Hinweis "auf einige Umstände in der vaterländischen Natur [...], die vielfältige Noth und grosses Verderben schon veranlasst haben und noch künftig bewirken können", ist wohl die Abholzung der Alpenwälder gemeint, die Meisner wiederholt scharf verurteilt und vor deren Folgen (Erosion, Überschwemmungen) er warnt. Neu ist auch die Geschichte von Niklaus von der Flüe, dessen Grabmal auf einer Radierung abgebildet ist. Der damit verbundene "fromme Aberglaube" (Wundergeschichten, Votivbilder) wird jedoch kritisiert

No full textThis article examines the emblems dedicated to Salvador (Bahia) and Olinda (Pernambuco) by Daniel Meisner and Eberhard Kieser in their singular book of urban emblems Thesaurus Philo-Politicus. Das ist: Politisches Schatzkästlein, first published in Frankfort on the Main between 1623 and 1631. Those Brazilian cities, together with Cuzco in Peru, were the only ones in America among the 830 plates included in the work. I describe the respective inserted emblematic picturae, with transcriptions and translations of the German and Latin inscriptiones, subscriptiones and explicit, and I attempt to interpret them and identify the sources of the views. The Dialectics of Facticity and Post-Truth as an Ideological Mirror of Present-Day Capitalism
No full textPresent-day debates on science are polarised between two official anti-theses. The
respective competing positions can be read as a radicalisation of postmodern relativism
in the direction of a post-truth framework, and defences of facticity based on
the assumption of the abstract neutrality of objective facts. These two epistemological
positions are only apparently independent from each other. Post-truth epistemology
and facticity have complementary ideological functions despite their apparent contradictions:
both exclude the possibility to address and transform the societal framework
in which they are inserted. A critical theory – more precisely, a Marxist political
epistemology – is necessary to address and to comprehend the ideological role of
today’s epistemological dichotomies. These dichotomies jointly monopolise the cultural
arena and hinder emancipatory imagination, thought and action

y en sus diversos aspectos. Sobre todo por el hecho de constituir, hasta el momento, el único libro
conocido de emblemas urbanos. Meisner nos ofrece 830 maravillosas vistas de ciudades de
todo el mundo y otros tantos preciosos emblemas en relación con ellas. En este estudio introductorio
abordamos las claves para comprender la relevancia del Thesaurus Philo-politicus en
su contexto histórico y cultural.The book "Thesaurus Philo-politicus" of Daniel Meisner (1623-1631), called us the attention by his high quality, so much to symbolic level like formal, by what definitely deserved to be analysed in depth
and in his diverse appearances. Especially by the fact to constitute, until the moment, the only book
known of urban emblems. Meisner offers us 830 wonderful seen of cities of
all the world and other so many lovely emblems in relation with them. In this introductory study
tackle the keys to comprise the importance of the Thesaurus Philo-politicus in
his historical and cultural context
