BackgroundTraumatic injury is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, but epidemiologic data about trauma patients who require intensive care unit (ICU) admission are scant. This study aimed to describe the annual incidence of ICU admission for adult trauma patients, including an assessment of risk factors for hospital complications and mortality in this population.MethodsThis was a retrospective study of adults hospitalized at Level 1 and Level 2 trauma centers after trauma and recorded in the National Trauma Data Bank in 2013. Multiple logistic regression analyses were performed to determine predictors of hospital complications and hospital mortality for those who required ICU admission.ResultsThere were an estimated total of 1.03 million ICU admissions for trauma at Level 1 and Level 2 trauma centers in the United States in 2013, yielding an annual incidence of 3.3 per 1000 population. The annual incidence was highest in men (4.6 versus 1.9 per 100,000 for women), those aged 80\uc2\ua0years or older (7.8 versus 3.6\ue2€“4.3 per 100,000 in other age groups), and residents in the Western US Census region (3.9 versus 2.7 to 3.6 per 100,000 in other regions). The most common complications in patients admitted to the ICU were pneumonia (10.9\uc2\ua0%), urinary tract infection (4.7\uc2\ua0%), and acute respiratory distress syndrome (4.4\uc2\ua0%). Hospital mortality was significantly higher for ICU patients who developed one or more complications (16.9\uc2\ua0% versus 10.7\uc2\ua0% for those who did not develop any complications, p\ue2€‰<\ue2€‰0.001).ConclusionsAdmission to the ICU after traumatic injury is common, and almost a quarter of these patients experience hospital complications. Hospital complications are associated with significantly increased risk of mortality.Electronic supplementary materialThe online version of this article (doi:10.1186/s40621-016-0084-5) contains supplementary material, which is available to authorized users.R49 CE002096/CE/NCIPC CDC HHS/United States2016-08-04T00:00:00Z27547703PMC497426
Defalcation of European Union Budget in the Romanian Criminal Law
One of the goals for Romania, after the 1st January 2007, was to protect the financial interests of the European Union to fight against fraud, corruption and other illegal activities. In order to achieve this target, the legal framework has been completed by the Law no. 161/2003 which introduced the article no. 182 in the text of the Law no. 78/2000 regarding prevention, discovery and punishing the corruption acts. The author analyses this new article and he develops the two constitutive elements (actus reus, mens rea), the objective and subjective aspects of the analyzed crime, the ways, the legal punishments applicable to this crime.fraud, financial interests, spending, incomes, actus reus, mens rea, legal punishments.
Complications and in-hospital mortality in trauma patients treated in intensive care units in the United States, 2013
Background
Traumatic injury is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, but epidemiologic data about trauma patients who require intensive care unit (ICU) admission are scant. This study aimed to describe the annual incidence of ICU admission for adult trauma patients, including an assessment of risk factors for hospital complications and mortality in this population.
Methods
This was a retrospective study of adults hospitalized at Level 1 and Level 2 trauma centers after trauma and recorded in the National Trauma Data Bank in 2013. Multiple logistic regression analyses were performed to determine predictors of hospital complications and hospital mortality for those who required ICU admission.
Results
There were an estimated total of 1.03 million ICU admissions for trauma at Level 1 and Level 2 trauma centers in the United States in 2013, yielding an annual incidence of 3.3 per 1000 population. The annual incidence was highest in men (4.6 versus 1.9 per 100,000 for women), those aged 80 years or older (7.8 versus 3.6–4.3 per 100,000 in other age groups), and residents in the Western US Census region (3.9 versus 2.7 to 3.6 per 100,000 in other regions). The most common complications in patients admitted to the ICU were pneumonia (10.9 %), urinary tract infection (4.7 %), and acute respiratory distress syndrome (4.4 %). Hospital mortality was significantly higher for ICU patients who developed one or more complications (16.9 % versus 10.7 % for those who did not develop any complications, p < 0.001).
Conclusions
Admission to the ICU after traumatic injury is common, and almost a quarter of these patients experience hospital complications. Hospital complications are associated with significantly increased risk of mortality
Assessment of Economic Growth of the Republic of Moldova in the Context of Global Economic Crisis
The world economic crisis has had a negative impact on the economic development of Moldova, but recent trends show that in 2010 we were able to forecast a small economic growth. The author examines the problems faced by the Moldavian economy which shackle its strong recovery. The current evolutions of the Moldavian economy are analyzed in the paper as well.remittances, foreign trade, competitiveness, structural reforms, macroeconomic environment

The Right to Information - Main Element of Freedom of Expression. European and Romanian Standards
The author analyses the right to information in the light of the European Convention for defence of the human rights and the main liberties, of the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights and Romanian right. After stating that this right is one of the two main elements of the right to expression freedom, next to the right of opinion freedom, the author shows, on one side, that the freedom to information supposes responsibility and, on the other side, this should be respected by public authorities, as well as by any natural or juridical person.the right to information, expression freedom, opinion freedom, European Court of Human Rights.
A REVIEW OF STUDENT TEST PROPERTIES IN CONDITION OF MULTIFACTORIAL LINEAR REGRESSION
Having in view previous contributions of the author related to the impact of collinearity on the estimated values of parameters of multifactorial linear regressions, in this paper the correlation between Student and Fisher test is emphasized and a correction of the standard computation of the Student test is proposed, in order to increase the respective test relevance and to detect the occurrence of “statistical illusions” determined by collinearity. Also, the impact of adding a new explanatory variable in the linear regression equation is analyzed and the conditions in which such a step is efficient are determined.Correlation between Fisher test and Student test computed values, Coefficient of alignment to collinearity hazard, Corrected Sudent Test, Interdependence between adjusted coefficient of determination and corrected Sudent Test, Anticollinearity
