Atomic Decomposition of Hardy Type Spaces on Certain Noncompact Manifolds

    No full text
In this paper we consider a complete connected noncompact Riemannian manifold M with bounded geometry and spectral gap. We prove that the Hardy type spaces X^k(M), introduced in a previous paper of the authors, have an atomic characterization. An atom in X^k(M) is an atom in the Hardy space H 1(M) introduced by Carbonaro, Mauceri, and Meda, satisfying an “infinite dimensional” cancellation condition. As an application, we prove that the Riesz transforms of even order 2k map X^k(M) into L^1(T^2k(M))

Sharp endpoint results for imaginary powers and Riesz transforms on certain noncompact manifolds

    No full text
We consider a complete connected noncompact Riemannian manifold M with bounded geometry and spectral gap. We prove that the imaginary powers of the Laplacian and the Riesz transform are bounded from the Hardy space X^1(M), introduced in previous work of the authors, to L^1(M

Amino acid sequence alignment of <i>A. fumigatus</i> MedA putative NLSs 1–4 with other MedA homologues.

<p>(A) Sequence alignment and motif prediction using PSORT II identified NLS1 sequence among orthologues of MedA. (B) Sequence alignment of the MedA minimal nuclear localization domain, MedA346–557 with other MedA orthologues. The sequences representing the putative NLSs 2, 3, and 4 are boxed. The basic amino acids within the putative NLSs of <i>A. fumigatus</i> MedA and the corresponding amino acids in MedA orthologues are highlighted in gray. The presence of an asterisk or a colon below the basic amino acids indicates a fully or strongly conserved residue, respectively. Numbers indicate the amino acid position within the primary amino acid sequence of the protein. A family of Hardy type spaces on nondoubling manifolds

    No full text
We introduce a decreasing one-parameter family X γ(M) , γ&gt; 0 , of Banach subspaces of the Hardy–Goldberg space h 1(M) on certain nondoubling Riemannian manifolds with bounded geometry, and we investigate their properties. In particular, we prove that X 1 / 2(M) agrees with the space of all functions in h 1(M) whose Riesz transform is in L 1(M) , and we obtain the surprising result that this space does not admit an atomic decomposition. </p

Estimates for functions of the Laplacian on manifolds with bounded geometry

    No full text
In this paper we consider a complete connected noncompact Riemannian manifold M with Ricci curvature bounded from below and positive injectivity radius. Denote by C the Laplace-Beltrami operator on M and by D the operator root L - b, where b denotes the bottom of the spectrum of L. We assume that the kernel associated to the heat semigroup generated by L satisfies a mild decay condition at infinity. We prove that if m, is a bounded, even holomorphic function in a suitable strip of the complex plane, and satisfies Mihlin-Hormander type conditions of appropriate order at infinity, then the operator m(D) extends to an operator of weak type 1. This partially extends a celebrated result of J. Cheeger, M. Gromov and A Taylor, who proved similar results under much stronger curvature assumptions on M, but without any assumption on the decay of the heat kernel

Maximal characterisation of local Hardy spaces on locally doubling manifolds

    No full text
We prove a radial maximal function characterisation of the local atomic Hardy space h1(M) on a Riemannian manifold M with positive injectivity radius and Ricci curvature bounded from below. As a consequence, we show that an integrable function belongs to h1(M) if and only if either its local heat maximal function or its local Poisson maximal function is integrable. A key ingredient is a decomposition of Hölder cut-offs in terms of an appropriate class of approximations of the identity, which we obtain on arbitrary Ahlfors-regular metric measure spaces and generalises a previous result of A.
