Monte Carlo Simulation for an Electrical Discharge in O2
The generation of plasmas and the initiation of electrical breakdown are realized by the phenomenon of electrical discharge which is provoked when we apply a sufficient electric field in a gas. Consequently the free charges are accelerated, new charged particles are created and others are destructed. This can be ranged in four phenomena: elastic collision (recombination), attachment, excitation and ionization. The aim of this paper is to study the basic phenomena in an electrical discharge in the case of Oxygen O2. Monte Carlo Simulation is used to follow the random trajectory of free charges determining in each path many parameters of the discharge. To determinate electrical and physical parameters, we have used the sampling laws. The spatial distributions of space charges (electrons, positive and negative ions) are also obtained. The determination of electrical field depends on distributions of charged particles obtained by solving the Maxwell equations.</jats:p
A Quality Steps for a Sustainable Development: Case of Food Processing
The activities of companies are executed according to the integration of multiple internal and external tensions in different communities and various branches of industry. In this context, innovations seem necessary to remain effective and to adapt itself to the constant evolutions of the markets. Sustainable development can be an opportunity to throw policy of innovation and place the sustainable development in the heart of strategic reflection of the company. Therefore, it constitutes an indispensable asset to strengthen the dialogue and the opening on the word in which we evolve. The integration of the idea of durability in the food processing industry by the implementation of a common system of management of the risks according to the food codex and by means of the method HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control points) aims at ensuring a better quality of life through the implementation of actions centered on health, by the control of the food chains. Our contribution, which becomes integrated into context, consists in bringing to light the factor health as a pillar into interface with the other themes to know the social, the economy and the environment.</jats:p
Contribution of stakeholder theory in the management of environmental quality of Algerian firms
Application of the Monte Carlo Method for the Determination of Physical Parameters of an Electrical Discharge
Contribution to the evaluation of the environmental risks induced by the worn-water discharges of an Algerian tannery
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the environmental risks of the worn-water discharges of an Algerian tannery.
Design/methodology/approach
It consists of a proposal for a combined methods based on the simultaneous use of the environmental structured analysis and design techniques and environmental failure mode and effect analysis (EFMEA).
Findings
In the contribution, the authors insist on the complementarity between these two methods to the identification and measurement of the environmental parameters of an Algerian tannery. The identified environmental impacts were prioritized on the environmental priority number combined with the improvement possibility (F).
Research limitations/implications
The contribution makes it possible to deduce the environmental aspects and, consequently, to emphasize the contribution of the environmental risk assessment on the environmental performance evaluation.
Practical implications
The contribution constitutes an invaluable help to the implementation of environmental performance evaluation process.
Originality/value
The employing coupled structured analysis and technical design and EFMEA methods have remarkably reduced the significance of the environmental impacts of an Algerian tannery.

Environmental impacts typology: a methodological proposal
This article suggests an approach to the integration of the environmental dimension in polluting industrial plants based on two genuine cases and on the typology of the significant environmental impacts. It consists of suggesting a methodology for integrating the environmental dimension which is based, first, on setting up some environmental indicators and, then, on deducing the significant environmental impacts for the sake of controlling them. The suggested approach highlights two field realities that Algerian industrial companies face: the first reality concerns the deficiency of the ISO 14000 certification notably when it is in its continuous improvement stage, and the second one concerns the curative actions which dominate those of regulation and prevention. The latter assessment is highlighted thanks to the suggested process of perpetuation.environmental impact, environmental pollution, typology, integration, environment, industrial pollution, environmental indicators, Algeria, ISO 14000 certification, continuous improvement, environmental management, environmental standards,
Contribution to the investment evaluation in terms of the forest fires prevention using the cost-benefit analysis method
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to valorize the contribution of the cost-benefit analysis (CBA) method in the evaluation of the prevention measures of forest fires.
Design/methodology/approach
The suggested approach is based on the economic analysis of the forest fires’ risks using the CBA which has become inevitable in risk analysis’ domain.
Findings
The suggested approach shows the interest of the CBA method in the sense that each reduction measure of the forest fires’ risk eliminates the potential damages and, therefore, it is likely to generate benefits for the company in terms of avoided damages on the territory that is concerned by these measures.
Practical implications
It consists in comparing on time, the benefit generated by a reduction measure of a forest fires’ risk and its implementation cost. This comparison gives an important focus on the economic relevance of such a reduction measure of forest fires’ risk.
Originality/value
The question is to highlight the importance of both: the investment in terms of forest fires and the allocation of this investment on various preventive measures of forest fires.
