    Asymmetric Impacts of natural gas consumption on Renewable Energy and Economic Growth in Kingdom Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates

    The globe is now in ecological turmoil as a result of the unrelenting increase in global warming. As a result, governments worldwide are committing to decarbonizing the environment, with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) playing an important role in this effort. Hence, this paper evaluates the nonlinear (asymmetric) impact of natural gas consumption on renewable energy consumption and economic growth in the KSA and the UAE utilizing data stretching from 1990 to 2020. The study also considers other drivers of renewable energy consumption and economic growth, such as trade openness and CO2 emissions. The study utilizes nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) to evaluate these associations. The outcomes of bounds nonlinear ARDL (NARDL), affirm the long-run association between the variables in both countries. The nonlinear results show that positive and negative shocks in natural gas consumption have a negative impact on renewable energy in both UAE and KSA. In contrast, positive and negative shocks in natural gas consumption impact economic growth positively. The study proposed vital policy recommendations based on these results

    Geochemical characterizations of mafic magmatic rocks of the Central Indian Shield: implication for Precambrian crustal evolution

    Geochemical and petrogenetic studies have been conducted on a set of basaltic rocks from Betul, amphibolites and dolerite dykes which intrude the Tirodi and Amgaon Gneissic Complex from Betul-Chindwara and Amgaon regions, respectively. Geochemically Betul mafic volcanics are classified as basalt to basaltic andesite with tholeiitic lineage in the form of Fe-enrichment trend. All the rocks are distinctly enriched in incompatible trace elements including light rare earth elements (LREE) and large ion lithophile elements (LILE), with continental signature in the form of negative Nb, P and Ti anomalies in their primitive mantle-normalised spidergrams. These chemical characteristics indicate their derivation from enriched mantle sources / sub-continental lithosphere. The dykes traversing the Tirodi Gneissic Complex (TGC) in Chindwara region have high abundances of Fe-oxides and alkali elements. These dykes are sub-alkaline, ranging in composition from basalt to basaltic andesite, with tholeiitic affinity. Doleritic dykes of TGC have enriched LREE-LILE with depleted high field strength elements (HFSE) patterns, which probably indicate their derivation by from enriched mantle sources, while the dykes of Amgaon Gneissic Complex (AGC) have lower LREE-LILE enrichment, which probably indicate higher degrees of partial melting of similarly enriched sources. Negative Sr-anomaly is conspicuous, probably indicating role of plagioclase fractionation in their genesis. Depleted mantle Sm-Nd model ages for the Betul mafic volcanics vary between 1951 Ma and 2320 Ma, indicating this period represents a major crustal evolution event in this region

    Effectiveness of monetary policy: Application of modified Peter and Clark (PC) algorithms under Graph-Theoretic Approach

    It is common practice that central banks around the world must adopt an inflation targeting framework; based on the assumption that inflation could be reduced by increasing interest rates. On contrary, the theoretical literature and data-based evidences differ remarkably. The arduous attached in finding the true association and causation is the existence of multiple monetary transmission channels. Theoretical literature lists both monetary and non-monetary channels linking interest rate and inflation. However, most of the existing studies are focused on single equation model ignoring other parallel channels. This study is first of its kind where we have developed modified Peter and Clark (PC) algorithm of the Graph-Theoretic approach taking all the monetary and non-monetary channels to determine the causal nexus between monetary policy and inflation. The results show that, causality is running from interest rate towards inflation; suggesting a positive and significant long run relationship of interest rate with inflation in case of Pakistan. Furthermore, monetary policy have cost-side effects on inflation; however, the monetary policy becomes counterproductive whenever high interest rate is used to decrease cost push inflation. Therefore, there is need of serious rethinking about current monetary policy regime. JEL Codes - E4; E5; E42; E5

    A Ten-year Risk Assessment Study of Cardiovascular Events Among Adults Visiting a Tertiary Care Institution in Northern India

    Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are a group of disorders of the heart and blood vessels, including Myocardial Infarction (MI) and stroke. Risk factors included are both modifiable and non modifiable, like age, sex, blood pressure, smoking status, total blood cholesterol and presence or absence of diabetes mellitus. In the above background it is important to find out the risk of CVDs among patients visiting Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC) of a tertiary care institute. Early detection of risk probability will alert them to modify the involved risk factors to avert the CVDs. Aim: To find out the risk of CVDs among adult patients in a duration of 10 years, who visited the Outpatient Department (OPD) of UHTC, using World Health Organisation/International Society of Hypertension (WHO/ISH) risk prediction Chart. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted in the Department of Community Medicine, of a tertiary care institution in Northern India, from August 2017 to January 2018. A total of 400 subjects were enrolled. Data were collected using the WHO/ISH 10-years risk prediction chart. Chisquare test was applied and level of significance were obtained at p-value <0.05. Results: Majority (58.75%) of the population belonged to the young adult age group (30-50 years). There were 216 males and 184 females. Overall, 7.75% people were diabetic, and 11.25% were smokers. Majority (69.5%) of the people had less than 10% risk for CVD, and 5.75% people had ≥40% risk. With respect to total serum cholesterol, 9% had high level of cholesterol. Statistically significant association was observed between Socio-economic Status (SES) (modified Kuppuswami scale) and cardiovascular event (p<0.001). Middle income group were more at risk compared to others (p<0.001). Conclusion: Middle income group people and young age group had more risk of developing CVDs in future, compared to lowincome group and other age groups. So, an early intervention in the lifestyle may avoid CVDs. Also, this study gives way for further research on the weightage of the individual risk factors for CVDs

    Body & organ donation in Bihar – A multicentre study on awareness among students of 1st professional MBBS course

    Background: With the attendant rise of the number of medical colleges in India over past few decades, the demand for cadavers used in medical education and research is growing. However, there is an insufficient supply of donated cadavers available for dissection. Objective: The present study aimed to assess the awareness about Body &amp; Organ Donation among students of 1st Professional MBBS course in Bihar, India. Materials and Methods: This retrospective, longitudinal cohort, observational multi-center study was carried out between March-2022 to May-2022 on consecutive 500 medical students admitted in 1st Professional MBBS course, studying at KATIHAR MEDICAL COLLEGE, KATIHAR, MADHUBANI MEDICAL COLLEGE, MADHUBANI and PATNA MEDICAL COLLEGE, PATNA, between the study duration. Inclusion criteria composed of only newly admitted first year medical students, following their informed consent whereas, second year, third year and fourth year medical students were excluded from this study. Approval was obtained from Institutional Ethics Committee. A structured questionnaire containing 29 items was administered after due consent by the department of anatomy of each of the above-mentioned medical colleges. The collected data was entered in Microsoft Excel to maintain the quality of data.&nbsp

    Water Quality of Major Ponds of Comilla Town

    Some important physico-chemical properties of water of major ponds of Comilla Town were studied to evaluate the water quality. Eight water samples were collected during the dry period (March 2005) from eight major ponds of Comilla Town (Ranir dighi, Mandir dighi, Nanuar dighi, Fauzdari dighi, Modina dighi, Dargabari dighi, Darma Sagar and Thakurpara). The result revealed that all the chemical constituents, except a few, are beyond the recommended limit for different uses. Higher value of pH (at Dargabari dighi, Darma Sagar dighi), OM (at Thakurpara dighi, Fauzdari dighi and Modina dighi), NH4+ concentration (at Ranir dighi, Mandir Dighi, Fauzdari dighi, Modina dighi and Dargabari dighi), and lower value of DO (at Fauzdari dighi and Modina dighi) may due to continuous disposal of kitchen wastes, organic wastes, sewage running and fall of twigs as well as extensive used for bathing, washing cloths and utensils etc. All indicate eutrophication and affect community health and hygiene and also create aesthetic problem in the locality.     History (Forward N-Gram) or future (Backward N-Gram)? Which model to consider for N-Gram analysis in Bangla?

    Includes bibliographical references (page 5).This paper presents a directional advantage of n-gram modeling in terms of backward or forward n-gram modeling in Bangla. The most commonly used n-gram analysis is predominantly a forward n-gram. However in Bangla it appears that a backward n-gram is repeatedly more successful and yields more grammatical results than a forward n-gram. This paper hypothesizes that the rationale behind this success is the syntactic ordering of constituents in Bangla. Bangla is a head-final specifier-initial language as opposed to English, which is head-initial specifier-initial. Hence in Bangla, the head comes after its argument in a phrase. If an n-gram analysis begins with a head and moves backwards it will stretch to its own argument but if you move for-wards then you'll probably grab the argument of an-other head. As probability of occurrence of heads is higher, probability of depending on a head is also higher and hence a backward n-gram will probably have a greater chance of yielding grammatical results. We carried out several experiments to compare different directional results in different applications with an advantage in the backward direction.     A Correlational Study between Chest Computed Tomography Severity Score and Laboratory Biomarker among COVID-19 Patient Admitted to a Tertiary Care Institute in a Tribal Belt of Central India

    Background: COVID-19 an emerging viral disease is a new challenge before the world. While having limited resources, early identification and deciding the need for hospitalization is important in management. Objectives: Can Chest high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) score be used as a prognostic factor and along biomarkers as a composite indicator to determine outcomes in COVID-19 pneumonia? Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional record-based study was conducted at a Tertiary Care Institute in Central India on 400 reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction confirmed COVID-19 patients during March 1st, 2021–May 31st, 2021. Results: The mean age was 42.82 years with male predominance (67%). Comorbidity was positively associated with computed tomography severity score (CT-SS) (P = 0.0). Most common comorbidities were hypertension (26%), diabetes (21%), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (17%), and chronic kidney disease (17%). There was a statistically significant positive association between oxygen requirement (P = 0.002) and biomarkers including D-dimmer, serum ferritin, and C-reactive protein with HRCT severity score (HRCT-SS). Cycle threshold value had varying relation to the CT-SS. Conclusion: HRCT-SS can be used as a predictor for COVID-19 pneumonia severity and mortality outcome
