Rhombipoma Mclean 2012, n. gen.
Genus Rhombipoma n. gen. TYPE SPECIES. — Rhombipoma rowleyana n. sp. DIAGNOSIS. — Whorl profile low, rounded; with whorl expansion to make final quarter whorl more projecting, sculpture of about 22 axial ribs; axial ribs absent in on final ∕₆ whorl, replaced by more prominent lamellae (lamellae not evident on earlier whorls); the final prominent lamellae continue to form the final lip; spiral sculpture of two beaded cords at periphery; lip very strongly projecting, of eight projecting axial lamellae. DISTRIBUTION. — Known only from type species, from shallow sublittoral depths, Rowley Shoals, off northwestern Western Australia. REMARKS This genus is comparable to Depressipoma n. gen. in its small size and low profile, differing in having a rounded, rather than carinate periphery, and in having reduced spiral sculpture on the shoulder and base, compared to that of Depressipoma n. gen. and Liotipoma. Whorl expansion is most extreme for all members of the subfamily. The final lip is more projecting than in species of Liotipoma and Depressipoma n. gen., and the lamellae of the projecting lip are larger and fewer, matched in prominence by the lamellae that precede the final lip.Published as part of Mclean, James Hamilton, 2012, New species and genera of colloniids from Indo-Pacific coral reefs, with the definition of a new subfamily Liotipomatinae n. subfam. (Turbinoidea, Colloniidae), pp. 343-376 in Zoosystema 34 (2) on page 370, DOI: 10.5252/z2012n2a10, http://zenodo.org/record/516546
Crebrivolutopsius Mclean & Clark 2023, n. gen.
Genus Crebrivolutopsius n. gen.
urn:lsid:zoobank.org:act: D76787CE-EE47-4CF2-A8BD-6441C5679776

Description: Profile high, suture moderately impressed; sculpture of strongly projecting spiral cords, with deeply channeled interspaces along upper part of whorl, of broad flattened spiral cords with fine interspaces below periphery, columellar callus narrow; outer lip with numerous prominent teeth along lower margin. Radula with curved rachidian tooth with four subequal cusps; lateral teeth with three cusps.

Type species: C. labidentatus n. sp. (HD)

Remarks: Crebrivolutopsius shows some anomalous characters that resemble those of the subfamily Neptuneinae, namely the comparatively small nucleus and the tricuspid lateral teeth, but the form and proportions of the shell is Volutopsiinae, so it is provisionally placed in the later subfamily.
Published as part of Mclean, James H. & Clark, Roger N., 2023, Seven new genera and thirty-four new species of buccinoid gastropods (Neogastropoda: Buccinidae) from the Aleutian Islands, Alaska, pp. 151-201 in Zootaxa 5351 (2) on page 189, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.5351.2.1, http://zenodo.org/record/8391375
Boreancistrolepis Mclean & Clark 2023, n. gen.
Genus Boreancistrolepis n. gen.
urn:lsid:zoobank.org:act: 4CD580A0-A245-4042-9E5B-F376E2D92D70

Diagnosis: Profile tall, whorls rounded, with rounded, narrow shoulder; suture deeply impressed; periostracum thin, shiny, closely adherent, lip extending anterior to base of pillar; sculpture faint or absent; color pattern green, two tone, base lighter; operculum large, filling aperture, outer surface strongly convex, glossy with terminal nucleus. Radula: Rachidian and lateral teeth each with three sharply pointed cusps.

Type species: Boreancistrolepis excelsus n. sp. (HD).

Remarks: Differs from other Parancistrolepidinae, particularly the rather similar Neancistrolepis Habe & Sato, 1973, by its thick, solid, nearly smooth shell with a tenacious, glossy periostracum and large operculum with, glossy, convex exterior, which completely fills the aperture. One Aleutian species.
Published as part of Mclean, James H. & Clark, Roger N., 2023, Seven new genera and thirty-four new species of buccinoid gastropods (Neogastropoda: Buccinidae) from the Aleutian Islands, Alaska, pp. 151-201 in Zootaxa 5351 (2) on page 156, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.5351.2.1, http://zenodo.org/record/8391375
Aleutibuccinum Mclean & Clark 2023, n. gen.
Genus Aleutibuccinum n. gen.
Figures 20 A–E urn:lsid:zoobank.org:act: 4FFF4DE6-E1F3-4DCF-A324-1814FB1C113F

Type species: Bathybuccinum clarki Kantor & Harasewych, 1998 (n. comb.)

Description: Medium size (height to 7 cm); Profile high, whorls rounded to angulate; spiral sculpture of fine lirae, axial sculpture absent; mature lip slightly flared; operculum sub-triangular with lateral nucleus.

Remarks: Kantor & Harasewych (1998) Originally placed Aleutibuccinum clarki in the genus Bathybuccinum (Golikov & Sirenko, 1988) subgenus Ovulatibuccinum (Golikov & Sirenko, 1988) but it is clearly distinct from both of these groups. The unique operculum sets this genus apart from all other North Pacific Buccininae. At present, the Aleutibuccinum clarki is the only species assigned to this genus.
Published as part of Mclean, James H. & Clark, Roger N., 2023, Seven new genera and thirty-four new species of buccinoid gastropods (Neogastropoda: Buccinidae) from the Aleutian Islands, Alaska, pp. 151-201 in Zootaxa 5351 (2) on page 193, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.5351.2.1, http://zenodo.org/record/8391375
Depressipoma Mclean 2012, n. gen.
Genus Depressipoma n. gen.
TYPE SPECIES. — Depressipoma laddi n. sp.

DIAGNOSIS. — Profile low with strong peripheral angulation midway on whorl, maximum diameter 3.3 mm; whorls rounded above and below peripheral carination, shoulder and base with narrow spiral cords, axial sculpture of narrow, projecting ribs; umbilical area broad, with deposition of callus to strengthen shell; final lip broad and projecting, composed of successive layers of fine lamellae; base of lip with short triangular tongue.

DISTRIBUTION. — Marshall Islands, Micronesia, west of the international date line and just north of the Equator.

REMARKS

Two species resemble Liotipoma in sculpture, have a similar aperture and lip with the projecting tongue, but have such a low profile that there would be no possibility to form a brood chamber within the umbilical cavity. The specimen of D.laddi n. sp. shows a lumpy deposition of callus across the umbilical area, which serves to strengthen the shell in the position at which its weak early stage would need fortification. The specimen of D. kwajaleina n. sp. is in poor condition with agglutinated sand obscuring what is probably the same feature in the umbilical cavity.
Published as part of Mclean, James Hamilton, 2012, New species and genera of colloniids from Indo-Pacific coral reefs, with the definition of a new subfamily Liotipomatinae n. subfam.
