Reikšminiai žodžiai: Lietuvos priešistorė; GintarasThe publication provides a review of Audronė Bliujienė’s monograph "Lietuvos Priešistorės Gintaras". There are not many studies in the Lithuanian historiography, dedicated to the subject of amber. Audronė Bliujienė’s book is the first significant, relevant and large study, dedicated to the problems of amber in Lithuanian archeology. The author raised herself the task “to show the significance of amber in the Baltic prehistory without mythologizing”. The book is not limited to solely local analysis of the subject, much broader horizons in the European context of studies of amber are sensed. The third chapter in the monograph is the most interesting, the author demonstrates her sleuthing abilities by analyzing the stories of emerging of individual amber articles and the related peripeteia. Not all the chapters in the book characterize with consistency. One can note the excessive prominence, given by the author to the natural sources of amber and get the impression that amber can be found throughout the entire Europe. Among the gems of the book are the examinations of the collection of Neolithic articles, found in Juodkrantė and its story and the activities of amber seeker and collector count Felix Tyszkiewicz, characterizing with a thorough analysis and freshness of the material. The annexes to the monograph are very informative however provided in different forms and the place names of the Kaliningrad area are used in the present-day Russian forms (the said aspect can also be noted in the text of the book). One cannot help but rejoice with the author’s decision to dedicate significant attention to the reconstruction of the old worldview, which helps to learn the manifestations of the spiritual culture and shows the view of the social structure of the society

The article analyses the images of the café and coffee from three books of Gintaras Patackas Kapitono Homero vaikai, Jauni patrakėliai petrarkos and Dviveidis Janas. The conception of modernism (surrealism), the reader, and the play are based on the articles of Rolan Barthes, Jurij Lotman, and Johan Huizinga. Surrealistic images of café and coffee in Gintaras Patackas poetry express homeless, carnival space, poetic mask of surrealism, the parody of the romantic writing. In the Kavamanija the comic surrealistic laud of coffee is the mask of surrealism, which means the death of the author as the hero of romantism. In the Meditacija prie lango su cigarete, kava is the parody of the romantic writing, of the poetical inspiration and meditation. In the Šventė two intertexts are played with: quotations from The Fateful Adventures of the Good Soldier Švejk During the World War of Jaroslav Hašek, and A Moveable Feast of Ernest Hemingway. The cycle of poems Kauno senamiesčio kavinių bliuzai ir rapsodijos express improvisation, which the poet marked the terms of jazz. The composition of the poem Duonos valgymas. “Skliautas”, 96 10 24 is focuses on the principles of the blues and the rhapsody. The improvisation is based on the variation – transformation of two different topics of the eaters of bread: on the Bible and on Romualdas Granauskas’ story Duonos valgytojai. The surrealistic vision of the cafe Skliautas expresses the conception of the naturalism of the writing. “In the blues” of... [to full text]

Gintaras Beresnevičius: the investigator of the phenomena of the sacred and the searcher for authentic religious experience

Reikšminiai žodžiai: Baltų mitologija; Gintaras Beresnevičius; Baltic mythology; Ginatars BeresneviciusThe article discusses some aspects of scholarly and literary legacy of the prominent Lithuanian intellectual Gintaras Beresnevičius as well as the relation of that legacy to the scholar's personality. The author emphasizes the importance of Beresnevičius as the first professional Lithuanian scholar who worked in the field of the phenomenology of religion, also highlighting some of his achievements in the field of Baltic mythology, the history of ideas, and the philosophy of religion. It is argued that the works of Beresnevičius investigating the general theoretical aspects of religion as such are, contrary to the present opinion, more important than his works on Baltic mythology. The author notices some signs of evolution in the works of Beresnevičius from the empirical investigation of the phenomena of the sacred towards the original philosophy of religion which tries to reveal the nature and essence of the sacred and divine as such, bypassing the level of phenomena. The article also focuses on the literary activity of Beresnevičius, his extraordinary creative potential, radical political views, and the relation of his ideas to some tenets of postmodernism. The facts of rich and sometimes turbulent personal life of the scholar are interpreted as his search for authentic religious experience. This search is viewed as complementary to his theoretical investigations. The conclusion is made that the importance of scholarly and political activity of Beresnevičius to academic and cultural life of Lithuania is extraordinary and worthy of a deep analysis in the future

The Originality of Gintaras Grajauskas Playwriting.

Gintaras Grajauskas – the playwriter who has been composing his playwriting since the very beginning of the XXI century. Few of his dramaturgic efforts came from the years of his studies, but the corpus named A girl which God was afraid of (2007) – is the first mature writing of Grajauskas as a playwriter. However, it has been analysed just a little. „A diary of the observer who writes about life“ is most accurately fitting line in describing Grajauskas‘ playwriting. The writer stands out with his ability to reveal the most relevant human conditions by using the contemporary means: his language is daily and casual, but there is a vivid sensation of the modern-day human traits and his/her respective lifestyle. Though the backbone of playwriting is considered to be script, which unveils the logo-centric position of an author, the screenwriter‘s authentic style corresponds well with the features intrinsic to post-modern era. The era, which is rapidly changing the theater as such in the contemporary. This research analyses separate elements of the play‘s structure, investigates its relationship with theater. The most distinct features of Grajauskas‘ plays are revealed by Jonas Vaitkus in his spectacle of A girl which God was afraid of, written by the author. Some discussions based on other plays written by Grajauskas serve the study as an opportunity to observe the trending characteristics of the national theater in the contemporary, and to reflect on the reasons of why those characteristics and processes determine a short lifespan of a play, directors’ and theater principals’ unwillingness to let the Lithuanian playwriting professionals into the biggest Lithuanian stages. Though each of the playwriters’ plays has been staged so far, Grajauskas is still yet to find his way in the theater

Reikšminiai žodžiai: Audronė Bliujienė; Lietuvos priešistorė; Gintaras; Audronė Bliujienė; Prehistory of Lithuania; AmberThose interested in Lithuanian archaeology have finally seen a valuable and significant book on pre-historic amber in Lithuania published. The author of the book Audronė Bliujienė became interested in amber a good decade ago. It can be seen from her biography and the themes she has been analysing in the recent years. In the introduction to the book, the author discusses the earliest written sources about the Aesti and the amber collected on the shores of the Baltic Sea, the name of amber, and linguists’ opinions on the origin of this name. This information is more or less known from works by other researchers. The folklore material presented in the book is less known to the reader. Therefore, the research material of Latvian folklore by Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga presented in the book is very valuable. The second part of the book discusses the most important Lithuanian literature on the theme of amber, and the third part presents histories of the birth of a set of amber articles of the Neolithic Age discovered in Palanga, amber bead necklace of Raudondvaris manor, the Šernai statuette and other bronze statuettes. The forth and the fifth parts are dedicated to amber resources in Europe and the Semba peninsula, and the sixth part discusses the oldest European amber artefacts. The seventh part of the book reveals facts related to amber in Jutland and Great Britain. The eighth part contains information about amber in Únětice, Otomani-Fūzesabony, Mycenaean, Lusatian cultures and regions inhabited by Greeks, Etruscans or Celts, etc. Therefore, the title of the book does not fully convey its content, and the reader is provided with a wider European context of amber research

Definition of act of terrorism according to the Penal code of Lithuania, criminal laws of foreign states and international law Summary At the 2000 – 2003 the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania adopted a range of new legal acts according to the purpose of implementation of international legal instruments in the national criminal law. In the work the author analyses criminal elements of terror act in the Lithuanian Penal code and in the international legal instruments against terrorism as well as in the national criminal law of foreign countries. The author establishes main problems that occur in the process of qualification of terror act. Also in this work considering the implementation of international rules in force according to the Penal code of the Republic of Lithuania author comes to a conclusion that international provisions is transferred successfully. In the work author establishes the concept of terror act as one of the most dangerous offences witch means the placing of explosives with the intent to cause explosion, cause of explosion or fire to in a place of dwelling, work, gathering or a public place also spreading of radioactive, biological or hazardous substances, preparations or micro-organisms. The essence of terror act is that this offence is related with endangerment of public safety, the human life, health and property. The objective elements of terror act leads to the endangerment of many people lives or health. The analysis of international legal acts shows that there is no legal definition of terrorism. Therefore international conventions in the fight against terrorisms deal with a specific forms or terrorism. In the work author analyses the criminal laws of foreign states and comes to the conclusion that terror act is criminalized differently in each state. This is because each state has a right to choose the way of implementation of international legal acts in their national criminal law. In the work author also considers qualifying elements of terror act, analyses the problems that may occur when implementing the article 250 of Criminal code of Lithuania in the practical area. Author analyses the regulations of liability for terror act when it committed in accomplice, considers the concept of terrorist group
