Full text linkThrough the reading of Midsummer Night’s Dream, this paper examines Shakespeare’s aesthetic meditation on appearance, also in reference to its final outcome which is realized in The Tempest. At the heart of this analysis is the way in which «first sight» operates and therefore the problem of illusion. The latter, however, is understood here as an essential element for the production of the sense of reality thanks to its performative nature. Therefore, Shakespeare’s meditation is addressed as an exposition of a particular conception of experience which, not being subject to the typically modern gnoseological dichotomy, constitutes the matrix of aesthetic knowledge

Pratiche, linguaggi e saperi dell’estetico" is a peer-reviewed international journal originated in 2008 from the “Seminario Permanente di Estetica” founded in 2004 in Florence by Fabrizio Desideri and Giovanni Matteucci. The journal publishes academic articles in Italian, English and French, book reviews and notices about conferences. It publishes two issues per year and contains a thematic section, a miscellany, notices and reviews. Each issue contains invited papers and contributed papers. There will be specific ‘Call for papers’ for contributed papers which will be subjected to peer-review. "Aisthesis" aims to be a public arena devoted to foster research and philosophical discussion, open to anyone who works on practices, languages and knowledge concerning aesthetics. Accordingly, the aim of the journal is to focus on the "aesthetic fact" rather than being related to the discipline "aesthetics" tout court. Thus, the notion of “aesthetic” is understood in several different ways and is seen as an element that permeates cultures and life forms of contemporaneity as well as of modernity and previous periods

Full text linkIl volume si propone di offrire uno strumento di orientamento entro un panorama che, come quello attuale, ha messo in crisi la concezione restrittiva dell’estetica in quanto filosofia delle belle arti. Il saggio introduttivo (L’estetica contemporanea tra teorie e pratiche) disegna un quadro delle trasformazioni che inducono ad andare al di là di tale concezione per misurarsi, invece, con la diffusione odierna dell’esteticità. Seguono schede dedicate alle categorie dell’estetica (bellezza, stile, piacere, autonomia, gusto, critica e interpretazione) e alle categorie dell’estetico (opera, artista, pratiche, spazio e tempo), colte alla luce di una realtà in cui hanno parte essenziale le nuove tecnologie e i fenomeni della globalizzazione. Il volume si conclude con la rassegna di pratiche e modalità espressive (dal suono all’abito, dall’immagine agli spazi di consumo, dalla narratività all’azione teatrale e al tempo libero) in cui si dispiega oggi il potenziale dell’estetico, con esempi concreti di applicazione delle categorie precedentemente esaminate. Affiora così il significato dell’estetica anche in relazione d argomenti non strettamente filosofici, come comunicazione e nuovi media, design e architettura, moda e marketing, benessere e turismo, relazioni sociali e immaginario collettivo, organizzazione aziendale e consenso politico
Everyday Aesthetics and Aestheticization: Reflectivity in Perception
Full text linkUndoubtedly, the relationship between Everyday Aesthetics and aestheticization is controversial, although they share the same historical context. Against every- day aestheticians’ tendency to refuse any proximity between everyday aesthetic experience and aestheticization as the “contagion-logic” underlying commodified reality, we will show how they are both based on the reflective structure of aisthesis. The latter emerges thanks to a critical conception here illustrated through both an archeological path (involving Sibley, Kant, and Herder), and the consideration of the determining factors for current aesthetic practices. Our thesis is, therefore, that Everyday Aesthetics can take advantage of a non-ideological approach to aestheticization, in order to become aware of the perception theory it actually needs and to promote an incisive critical stance

The meeting between these different vectors is not a simple juxtaposition, but it involves their change and metamorphosis, their specification and enrichment. On this basis Anceschi rejects the typically modern notion of experience. Experience emerges as a relational concept that preserves the reasons acting in the things themselves, and which form the core of the rationality of a philosophical discourse that follows the contour of the real fields that it wants to recognize in their difference

No full textPassing through single authors and specific problems, the book explores a territory that remains outside or on the edge of the light cone of the more considered American aesthetic reflection, namely the analytical philosophy of art. It then looks at capital moments that either are at the origin of American aesthetics of the twentieth century, or cross over the same analytical approach. To unite these "removed" elements is the attention to the rich phenomenology of the sensible and a sort of anthropological bending, both aspects to which, however, seem attracted to the same recent developments of analytical philosophy. Intent of the book is therefore to explore the act of removal accomplished in analytical philosophy of art and some form of return of such removed. At the center of the first part of the book are authors as Dewey, Langer and Wollheim. The second part of the book deals with problems related to the themes of creativity, appearance and aesthetic properties, trying to outline the structures of the "aesthetic field"

Wollheim sviluppa una teoria che concepisce l’arte come “forma di vita” e trae origine dall’approfondimento delle pratiche percettive che intervengono nella fruizione concreta dell’opera d’arte. - Questa edizione, introdotta dal curatore, si distingue per l'apparato di note (105) in cui viene per la prima volta ricostruito l'insieme di riferimenti critici e bibliografici del testo, e per la correzione di errori testuali presenti nelle edizioni in lingua originale

No full textLa Collana Estetica / Mente / Linguaggi nasce dall’esigenza di ridisegnare il perimetro teorico dell’estetica e si rivolge a tutti coloro che si occupano di pratiche, linguaggi e saperi pertinenti al suo campo concettuale. Più che all’estetica in senso disciplinare, questa collana mira a quella dimensione dell’estetico che permea e attraversa atteggiamenti, convinzioni, culture e forme di vita. Focus privilegiato della collana è un’esplorazione del terreno problematico d’intersezione tra estetica e filosofia della mente. Pari attenzione sarà altresì dedicata all’orizzonte plurale dei linguaggi espressivi e delle arti (da quello verbale e letterario a quello gestuale, iconico e musicale). La collana accoglierà sia ricerche inedite (individuali e collettive) sia la traduzione di testi classici e di voci significative del dibattito contemporaneo. Costante sarà il riferimento ad approcci e territori epistemici che ampliano radicalmente la latitudine e l’incidenza dei fatti estetici nel paesaggio umano, attraverso l’apporto di saperi nuovi o radicalmente rinnovati (dalle neuroscienze all’antropologia, dalle scienze cognitive alla psicobiologia)
