No full textPekmezci, Ayşegül (Dogus Author) -- Topuz, Ercan (Dogus Author)Reflections from boundaries of the FDTD computational domain lead to inaccurate, even unstable codes when dealing with problems involving double negative (DNG) materials. Here, an efficient and simple algorithm is presented for terminating FDTD in DNG medium which is based on first and second order Mur’s absorbing boundary conditions (ABC). FDTD update equations for Mur’s ABC formulations are obtained from frequency domain one-way wave equations using piecewise linear recursive convolution (PLRC) method. Numerical examples are given both for 1D and 2D scenarios to demonstrate the validity and stability of the proposed Mur formulations, and its advantages over uniaxial perfectly matched layer (UPML) in reducing computational time and memory requirements

No full textEn cherchant à cerner la manière dont Semper conçoit le mur, sa genèse et ses fonctions, cet article s’interroge sur le statut, chez lui, d’un récit des origines de l’architecture qui s’inscrit dans la continuité de Vitruve et, à l’époque moderne, de l’abbé Laugier, mais qui se construit à partir d’une herméneutique inédite : l’auteur des Quatre Éléments articule une pratique résolue de l’enquête archéologique de terrain et une conscience aiguë du caractère fictionnel de toutes les scènes primitives de l’architecture. Sa déconstruction du mur de pierre au profit de l’enclos végétal tressé et son insistance sur la mobilité des nattes composant ce dernier peut-elle être rattachée à une lignée philosophique soucieuse de dévoiler l’arbitraire des limites instaurées (notamment celles de la propriété) ? La réponse apportée à cette question est ici négative.Looking to define Semper’s conception of the wall, its origins and its functions, this essay questions the status, in his work, of a narrative of the origins of architecture that follows on from Vitruve and, in the modern period, from the abbé Laugier, but that also builds on a new hermeneutics: the author of the Four elements combines a resolute practice of archaeological fieldwork and an acute awareness of the fictional character of all primal scenes of the origins of architecture. Can Semper’s deconstruction of the stone wall in favour of the wattle fence and his emphasis on the mobility of the latter’s woven panels be included in a larger philosophical tradition that has been trying to unveil the arbitrariness of barriers (notably those delineating property)? This essay answers negatively
