A Florentine family in crisis: the Strozzi in the fifteenth century.
PhDIn 1434 the Strozzi lineage had held a leading position in
Florentine society and government for at least one hundred and fifty
years, and was one of the largest and wealthiest of the city's
patrician lineages. The records of the catasto of 1427 and of the
scrutiny of 1433 are used to give a profile of the dominant social,
economic and political position of the Strozzi before the advent of
Medicean dominance. Their record of electoral success, and the
political and cultural leadership of influential and respected men
such as Palla di Nofri and Matteo di Simone, with other factors, put
the Strozzi amongst the greatest enemies of the victorious Medicean
regime of late 1434. The effects of political opposition and exile
on the lineage are examined both directly, through records of office-holding,
and indirectly through such indicators as marriage alliances
and household wealth. The two most prominent lines of the Strozzi
were exiled after 1434. Palla di Nofri's life and preoccupations in
his Paduan exile are examined, together with the lives of his sons;
none of these Strozzi ever returned to Florence, pursued as they were
by the enmity of the Medicean regime. The very different careers of
Filippo di Matteo and his brother Lorenzo are also examined: how they
succeeded in founding a lucrative bank in Naples, and in returning to
Florence to 'rebuild' (rifare) the position of the Strozzi lineage
there. The final decades of the century saw the Strozzi in an
economically more secure position, due substantially to the efforts
of Filippo. Except for a very small number of its members admitted
into the regime, most of the lineage is here shown to have remained
excluded from significant political office until after the fall of
the Medici regime in 1494
Belongs to the intellectual heritage and material of Filippo Càssola also the creation of a political circle, that he chose to call with the name “Adolfo Omodeo”, the author of a masterful history of the Italian Risorgimento, the inspirer of vigorous cultural rebirth of the anti-Fascist Italy and early anticipator of a European Community. In the spirit of these ideals, Càssola, authoritative connoisseur of the freedom and rights of the ancient world and modern, as emerges from the whole of its prestigious scientific production, inspired many scholars and enthusiasts to deal with topics oriented toward issues and civil and political more current, especially in relation to the delicate problems of the Questione Adriatica, the rest is not yet solved
The article’s purpose is to read Filippo Tuena’s novels as a whole. The author, from his first publications in the 1990s to the recent In cerca di Pan, has distinguished himself as one of the most interesting voices on the Italian literary scene. A number of typical and recursive features of his novels are considered, including the interaction between written and figurative text; the focus on an ambiguous, fragmented character type, often rendered through a game of mirrors from different points of view; the collaboration of narrative and critical datum, which makes Tuena a writer extremely careful to rereading and reinterpretation; and finally the theme of travel, in which some of his most successful books are summarized

Economic Impact of Rural Development Plan 2007 2013 in Tuscany
In 2007 in every European Union region, involved in the planning of Rural Development Plan (RDP), an independent evaluator should asses the impact of the plan in term of value added and productivity. Each region has adopted different methodologies but few of them have followed the indications of Common and Monitoring Evaluation Framework (CMEF) to evaluate the net value deriving by direct and indirect effect. IRPET, the Independent evaluator of Tuscany, utilising REMI-IRPET model has assed the impact of RDP on the main economic variables until 2020. Among 30 different measures it has been chosen only 5 of them that cover more than 54% of total amount of public and private investments. The economic impacts are also evaluated at provincial level.evaluation, regional model, rural development, Community/Rural/Urban Development,

Fara dya.
This master thesis presents the analysis and the design of a centre for the transformation of the parboiled rice, using up-cycle products and local and natural materials.
Our composition experience started with the participation to the competition Kaira Looro, for the design of a multi-religious place of worship in Tanaf. Located in the Casamance (Senegal), this city presents a sub-tropical climate that contributed in making the Casamance the wealthier agricultural region of the country, especially thanks to the rice paddies. Nevertheless, the remains of the recent independence war and the current problem of salinity impoverish the region.
In this difficult context, the architect Raoul Vecchio, from the association Balouo Salo, organizer of the competition, is developing a project of a dam-bridge to allow to stop the saline intrusion. During a discussion with him, the idea of designing a structure that might accompany the relaunch of the rice culture came to our minds.
Traditionally, women transform the rice at home, which implies an economic precariousness and hygiene problems. Designing a centre for the steaming of the rice is not only a vector of economic development but also an instrument for emancipation.
Through the reinterpretation of the local construction techniques, a mixed system of a metallic structure in scaffolds and an envelope in earth walls was introduced. This combination presents interesting thermic and structural aspects, which were evaluated during the architectural design with studies and simulations. Meetings with professionals allowed us to go beyond the theoretical aspect; the structural design was followed by the engineer Ragazzi (Marcegaglia) and the professor Calvetti, a prototype at real scale was realised during an internship at the Guglielmino, and our hypothesis of reusing Italian scaffoldings was validated with a life cycle assessment under the supervision of the professor Dotelli. In parallel was elaborated an earth plaster with thermo-reflexion properties based on shells, object of the participation to the congress Terra Education III, organised by the CRATerre in June 2018

Current Challenges for the Protection of Refugees in Europe: An Introduction
In this introoduction, the author describes the evolving framework around the international protection of refugees, in the light of the UN-sponsored Global Compact and of the current debate on the reform of the Common European Asylum System. Afterwards, he introduces a Forum (presented in this Issue of Diritti umani e diritto internazionale) aimed at offering a critical appraisal of solutions recently adopted or proposed in the field of international protection and migration governance by the EU or its Member States. To this end, the main critical questions raised by such solutions are addressed, with the primary yardstick being the full implementation of international refugee law, of human rights law and of the EU principles as enshrined in the EU treaties, including the EU Charter of fundamental rights
