Players are still forced into the characterization of the traditional five positions: point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward, and center, and metrics such as True Shooting Percentage and Expected Shot Quality are just beginning to become well-known. In this paper, we show how to apply Principal Component Analysis to better understand traits of current player positions and create relevant player features based on in-game spatial event data. We also apply unsupervised machine learning techniques in clustering to discover new player categorizations and apply neural networks to create improved models of effective field goal percentage and effective shot quality.by Santhosh Narayan.M.     Pharmacognostical Studies on Stems of Clerodendrum infortunatum L.

    Clerodendrum infortunatum L. also known as Clerodendrum viscosum (Family Verbenaceae) is a perennial soft tomentose shrub that attains about 1m height consisting of light purple coloured or pinkish white flowers. It is widely used in traditional medicinal systems such as Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Unani due to its significant medicinal properties. It is commonly found in waste places of India, Burma and Bangladesh. Aim: The present study was undertaken to lay down the pharmacognostical standards of stems of Clerodendrum infortunatum L. in order to validate / document its therapeutic benefits. Materials and Methods: Stems of Clerodendrum infortunatum L. were subjected to pharmacognostical studies which include evaluation parameters such as histological study, microscopical study, fluorescence study, physicochemical analysis and phytochemical screening. Ethanolic and aqueous extracts were used for the physicochemical analysis and preliminary phytochemical screening Results: Histological study revealed the presence and arrangement of various cells in the stem. Microscopical study revealed the presence of important characters such as covering trichomes, glandular trichomes, lignified fibres, wood elements, stone cells, medullary rays and calcium oxalate crystals. Preliminary phytochemical screening demonstrated the presence of phenolics, tannins, flavonoids, alkaloids, carbohydrates and glycosides. Conclusion: The generated data could be significantly used to establish the pharmacognostic profile for the correct authentification, standardization and quality control of stems of Clerodendrum infortunatum L.     The constructional activities in the coastal belt of our country often demand deep foundations because of the poor engineering properties and the related problems arising from weak soil at shallow depths.The soil profile in coastal area often consists of very loose sandy soils extending to a depth of 3 to 4 m from the ground level underlain by clayey soils of medium consistency.The very low shearing resistance of the foundation bed causes local as well as punching shear failure.Hence structures built on these soils may suffer from excessive settlements.This type of soil profile is very common in coastal areas of Kerala,especially in Cochin. Further,the high water table and limited depth of the top sandy layer in these areas restrict the depth of foundation thereby further reducing the safe bearing capacity.Division of Civil Engineering,Cochin University of Science and Technolog

    Objective: To design novel series of 1,3,4 thiadiazoles and to evaluate their anti-mycobacterial potency via In silico modeling. Methods: In silico modeling comprising of Lipinski rule evaluation, ADMET prediction, Molecular docking and Simulation studies aimed to identify potent 1,3,4 thiadiazoles. Results: The various physiochemical parameters and molecular descriptors of the proposed 1,3,4 thiadiazoles were predicted. And they exhibited good binding score compared with standard drug INH. The simulation studies showed minimal fluctuation of the ligand receptor complexes. Conclusion: The MD simulation and binding affinity of designed 1,3,4 thiadiazoles proved their  efficiency as InhA inhibitors. The potency of the selected derivatives can be confirmed by further in vitro and in vivo experiments

    An Observational Study On Pharmaceutical Care Based On The Place Of Practice Of Pharmacists.

    Background: Clinical pharmacists are crucial in enhancing patient care and medication effectiveness, focusing on safety and effectiveness, as they founded pharmaceutical care to improve patient quality of life.&nbsp;Methodology: An observational study was conducted on 869 patients in the southern state of India, examining prescription drugs received from various pharmacies, including community pharmacies, pharmacies connected to private hospitals, government medical college hospitals, and government Primary Health Centres.&nbsp; A self-administered, standardized, closed-ended questionnaire was employed. The data was sorted and summarized.&nbsp;Results: The study examined the impact of pharmacists' pharmaceutical care on workplaces, finding that patients appreciated the pharmacy's location, amenities, cleanliness, and hygiene. However, their educational background was not impressive. While most of them were unaware of the quality of the prescriptions they received, there wasn't much discontent with the medications' availability. The pharmacists' counselling attitude and knowledge were impressive.&nbsp;Conclusion:&nbsp; The study highlights the importance of pharmacists in pharmaceutical treatment, revealing that patients consider factors such as location, amenities, staff education, and attitude when choosing a pharmacy. Despite doubts about the quality of pharmaceuticals, adequate drug availability was found. The study also highlights the significance of pharmacists' knowledge and demeanor in responsible drug use, highlighting the need for both physical and professional aspects in pharmacy operations. &nbsp

    Induced cleistogamy: A strategy for reproductive assurance in Murdannia nudiflora (Commelinaceae)

    Murdannia nudiflora (L.) Brenan is a day flower that is dependent on entomophilous pollination. Despite the lack of pollinator attractants and its short flower longevity, M. nudiflora shows high rates of fecundity, which lead to their rapid dispersal. In addition to monitoring the vegetative reproductive methods and the effect of select environmental parameters (atmospheric temperature, relative humidity, and precipitation rates) in M. nudiflora, we evaluated mating systems in this species via artificial crosses. This species has evolved to undergo autogamy to ensure reproductive success when pollinators are insufficient; cleistogamous flowers are produced for optimal pollinator activity when environmental conditions are unfavorable. The number of cleistogamous flowers produced was found to be positively correlated with humidity and precipitation rates, and negatively correlated with temperature. In addition, it was found that high humidity and precipitation always hinder insect pollinators. Therefore, the combination of vegetative reproduction, entomophily, and cleistogamous self-pollination helps this weedy species to propagate with maximum efficiency. Murdannia nudiflora employs pre-anthesis cleistogamy as a mating strategy for reproductive assurance while retaining mechanisms that promote out-crossing.The accepted manuscript in pdf format is listed with the files at the bottom of this page.
