No full text
The objective of this concept note was to introduce Impact Evaluation and highlight its need and importance during these turbulent times. As it turns out that Impact Evaluation holds promise to a host of benefits to the MFIs ranging from consumer insights to launching of new products and services and from better reporting standards to performance measurement. It will gain further prominence in coming days as focus of various stakeholders undergoes drastic shift towards social performance and understanding the consumer behavior. Not only it will be a strategic exercise but it will be adopted as a risk mitigation tool for identifying loopholes and appropriate measures to plug them.Microfinance, Impact Evaluation,

Early Cenozoic rapid flight enigma of the Indian subcontinent resolved: roles of topographic top loading and subcrustal erosion

Intrinsic magmatic processes are considered as critical operators of plate movements. Here we demonstrate the role of extrinsic processes consequent to intrinsic processes as a catalyst for anomalous rapid plate movement. The rapid and accelerated flight of the Indian subcontinent since Deccan volcanism until its collision with Eurasia remains as one of the geological conundrums. Data on seismic tomography, peninsular geomorphology and inferences on continuum of subcrustal structures are utilized to address this enigma. We propose geomorphic isostasy as the mechanism that has driven this fastest drift ever recorded in geological history. It was initiated by sudden instability after the Deccan volcanism and resultant extensive accumulation of lava pile over continental lithosphere of northern India, northern-eastern tilt due to crustal thickness heterogeneity and subcrustal thermal stratification. The drift was sustained by Carlsberg and Central Indian ridge-push until collision and sediment top loading at northeast thenceforth. These inferences and geomorphic isostasy as a catalytic mechanism necessitate variability of drift rates as integral inputs for any continental scale modeling.Muthuvairavasamy Ramkumar, David Menier, Manoj Mathew, M. RECTIFIED DIFFERENTIAL CRYPTANALYSIS OF 16 ROUND PRESENT Manoj Kumar , Pratibha Yadav and Meena Kumari SAG, DRDO, Metcalfe House, Delhi-110054, India ABSTRACT In this paper, we have suggested rectifications in differential cryptanalysis of ultra-lightweight block cipher PRESENT reduced to 16 rounds. We have shown that proposed differential attack by Wang [3] on 16 round PRESENT can recover at the most 30 subkey bits, although the author has claimed to recover 32 bits of subkey for last two rounds. We have also computed data complexity and success probability for recovering 30 subkey bits accordingly by the differential attack on 16 round PRESENT. The forties are very significant in Bengali literature. The partition, riots and the crisis of refuges life are reflected in every form of literature. The impact of partition and ritos is reflected a little more in the stories. The brutality of the riots, violence and hatred, and the pain of partition have been reflected in the writings of many story taller’s. Manoj Basu is one of the few storytellers who embodied the riots and partition in the pens of the fortis and fifties. Compassion for the homeland and relatives, that is, the people, is the main feature of Manoj Basu\u27s literature. Just as there is a thorough picture of how public life was disrupted in the Hindu-Muslim riots and the partition after independence. Manoj Basu\u27s stories also show the picture of people coming together, forgetting the memories of the riots and partition. The riots created districts between the two Nations, Hindus and Muslims, and partition increased it. Therefor after partition, communal classes and unrest increased even more. storyteller Manoj Basu has sympathetically portrayed the people in danger during riots and partition in his stories after independence. And so we see the harmony of Hindu-Muslim relations in his stories. He believed that oneday all the darkness would pass, the storm would stop and light would shine again, all the unrest would end. That is why he has faith in people and he wanted to protray that in his stories. In stories like \u27Hindu Muslim Danga\u27, ‘Dangar Ekti Kahini\u27, ‘Dangar Daag\u27, ‘Hindu Muslim’, ‘Simanta\u27, ‘Epar Opar\u27, ‘Tanter Maku\u27 etc. The author has protrayed the picture of Hindu Muslim relations during the riots and partitions during the contemporary and post partition period with experience. His stories have become an intertextual account of Hindu Muslim relations. Manoj Basu wanted to show the good heart of a person can never die. Even if riots and partition temporary separate people, it can never be permanent. When the fire of hatred and jealousy dies down, faith in each other returns because people always stand by each other losing faith in people is a sin— this message of hope is echoed in Manoj Basu\u27s stories

SYNOPSIS The D.Litt Thesis herewith submitted, namely 'Budgetticks - A must for the Government'. This nature of research comes under the purview of the subject Public Administrations, which happens to be mine own discovery. Presently, there are huge problems in chalking out the yearly budget of the different countries in the present day world. Moreover, the countries which are in the arena of third world and underneath nations, this problem of framing of yearly budget has become a misnomer. The different Governments pertaining to such third world and underneath arena find the same, quite difficult in order to present their budget in thier respective Parliaments, or, before the Assemblies. In fact, there are no relevancies observed to-day, in between the different budgetary provisions (i.e. monetary provisions) and the resultant effects. Here, the Governments are meeting with their drastic failures in providing the people, which are very akin to maintain their lives and livelihoods towards, achieving a conducive sustenance. Here, Budget and its effects make no systematic impact in providing the people, their day to day necessities. Presently, most of the 3rd world and underneath nations are adopting the type of budget which are basically borrowed from the Britishers. During the colonial rule of the Britishers, they have imposed their ideas, their authority, responsibility, accountability, in the shape of forming the Governments, up to their own tastes. Unfortunately such Governments are not finding an outlet to be away from such unsuitable procedural ways as set up towards framing of the budget as made by the Britishers. Of course, partly the British system may have, some help to the capitalistic nations like U.S.A., U.K. and other European countries, but for the people of 3rd world and the underneath nations, this system only provides a distorted, hazy as well as quite an unsuitable order, in consideration to their geographical, social, political and anthropological behavioural orders.

The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the prevalence of oral mucosal lesions in Manipal, Karnataka State, India. A total of 1190 subjects who visited the department of oral medicine and radiology for diagnosis of various oral complaints over a period of 3 months were interviewed and clinically examined for oral mucosal lesions. The result showed the presence of one or more mucosal lesions in (41.2%) of the population. Fordyce′s condition was observed most frequently (6.55%) followed by frictional keratosis (5.79%), fissured tongue (5.71%), leukoedema (3.78%), smoker′s palate (2.77%), recurrent aphthae, oral submucous fibrosis (2.01%), oral malignancies (1.76%), leukoplakia (1.59%), median rhomboid glossitis (1.50%), candidiasis (1.3%), lichen planus (1.20%), varices (1.17%), traumatic ulcer and oral hairy leukoplakia (1.008%), denture stomatitis, geographic tongue, betel chewer′s mucosa and irritational fibroma (0.84%), herpes labialis, angular cheilitis (0.58%), and mucocele (0.16%). Mucosal lesions like tobacco-related lesions (leukoplakia, smoker′s palate, oral submucous fibrosis, and oral malignancies) were more prevalent among men than among women. Denture stomatitis, herpes labialis, and angular cheilitis occurred more frequently in the female population

Corporate Governance, Competition and Firm Performance: Evidence from India.

The aim of this paper is to show the interaction effect of product market competition and corporate governance variables on firm performance. While the linkage between internal governance mechanism and firm performance is well established in several studies, the interaction between internal and external governance mechanism has received scanty attention in emerging market economies. Here we have shown the independent and interaction effect of ownership and competition variable on firm productivity. Contrary to conventional wisdom, we document that competition has in reality become a discernible force in developing economies. The econometric modelling result shows while the standalone effect of ownership variable on productivity is mostly insignificant, there is a strong positive interaction effect with competition variables.

Key Author Analysis in Research Professionals’ Relationship Network Using Citation Indices and Centrality

AbstractIn social network analysis, the importance of an actor can be found by using the centrality metrics. There are many centrality metrics available e.g. degree, closeness, betweenness, eigenvector etc. In research community authors forms a social network, which is called Research Professionals’ Collaboration Network. This is similar to social network where each author is an actor and an article written together by some authors establishes collaboration between them. Each author acquires a certain value based on the citation of their articles. There are many citation indices are available such as citation count, h-index, g-index, i10-index etc. To analyze the Research Professionals’ collaboration Network and for finding the key author, the citation indices can be used. In this paper, we compare and combine both social network analysis metrics and the citation indices to get better result in finding the key author
