In this interview, Martin discusses moving to Mississippi with their partner to start Samsara Garden. A Florida native, Martin moved from Brooklyn, New York to Oxford, Mississippi in search of accessible land to start their business. They share how they grew to love the way Mississippi’s climate allowed them to grow a plethora of crops including their most popular item, microgreens. Due to the relationships they forged with the Unitarian Universalist church in Oxford and the farmers market, Martin and their partner were able to cultivate a robust and inclusive community of friends

Oral History Interview: Sidney Morgan Martin
This interview is one of a series conducted concerning the experiences of West Virginian war veterans. Mr. Morgan picked cotton and worked in lumber until he was twenty-two. He then joined the United States Army and fought in the Spanish-American War. In 1973, he was a candidate for sheriff of Lyon County, Kentucky, where he was residing at the time of the interview.
