Finding Aid to the Collection of Grace Mountcastle Martin Materials
Grace Mountcastle Martin (1892-1968) was a member of the Department of Speech and Drama at the Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College in Stillwater, now known as Oklahoma State University, and married to its chair, David Martin. Through the department-sponsored lecture series, the Martins hosted many prominent writers, poets, and artists, with whom Mrs. Martin subsequently corresponded. She also received letters of introduction to a number of English authors and artists, whom she visited when she and her husband traveled abroad. Mrs. Martin also sent foodstuffs and other goods to many of her British friends during the rationing period during and after the second World War. The collection contains many letters dating 1959-1967 to Richard Cary of Colby Special Collections explaining Martin\u27s correspondence to literary and artistic figures of the day, especially Sir Sydney Cockerell, some of the letters themselves, an unidentified letter of 1937, clippings, and a group of 34 postcards of the English countryside
Grace: Free, costly, or cheap?
This thesis examines the concept of cheap and costly grace in Discipleship within the context of Bonhoeffer’s theological, and historical background. I shall argue that cheap grace is not grace but rather an ironic statement that Bonhoeffer created in reaction to Lutheran theologians who denied the role of works as a necessary response to faith. Bonhoeffer believed that these Lutherans centred their theology on traditions and Creeds, rather than accepting Christ’s call to discipleship, and neighbourly love.
Costly grace, in contrast to cheap grasp is characterised by faith which is active in obedience to Christ. Bonhoeffer calls costly grace the call to discipleship, and expects Christians to accept the operational consequences of obedience. These consequences are suffering, persecution, and possibly even martyrdom. However, costly grace is not only a call to action. Costly grace is grace, which means that a Christian comes closer to God, and the truth of their existence through living a life of obedience and discipleship.
However, Bonhoeffer’s theology of costly grace is not without criticism; and I will propose that Bonhoeffer’s treatise of ‘Costly Grace’ is lacking an adequate theology of the Holy Spirit, overly Christocentric, and can be accused of taking away the central Reformation tenet of grace as a gift. I will propose that all of these criticisms can be explained by Bonhoeffer’s life setting. For example, a lack of Pneumatology, and an overly represented Christology was a product of Bonhoeffer Lutheran background and the Christocentric theology of the day. Moreover, it can be argued that Bonhoeffer’s belief that faith must be expressed in concrete acts of obedience was a product of what Bonhoeffer perceived as the need of the church, at a time when Nationalism, and Germanism had overtaken Christian beliefs
Grace in Spoofax
Grace is a programming language that aims to be an example of a contemporary object-oriented language, to be used for teaching university level students. The language specification of Grace is informal, and its various implementations are difficult to comprehend and change. Spoofax Grace is an implementation of the Grace programming language, meant to serve both as a reference implementation, but also a specification, that can be easily read, understood and changed. Spoofax Grace is implemented using the Spoofax language workbench, providing a declarative grammar, program transformations and dynamic semantics. From these specifications a language interpreter is generated that can execute Grace programs. The system covers the core aspects of Grace, yet a number of language features remain unimplemented. The implementation can be correlated to the informal Grace specification, and can be changed or extended at will.Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer ScienceSoftware TechnologyProgramming Language

This is a thank you note written by Grace Bowers to Calvin Martin of Springfield College with a small obituary written about Joseph W. Bowers attached. The note is dated November 10, 1958. The note thanks Calvin Martin and Springfield College for their condolences and tells the college that she wishes for them to maintain contact with her
Interactions of L-3,5,3'-Triiodothyronine, Allopregnanolone, and Ivermectin with the GABAA Receptor: Evidence for Overlapping Intersubunit Binding Modes
Structural mechanisms of modulation of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) type A receptors by neurosteroids and hormones remain unclear. The thyroid hormone L-3,5,3’-triiodothyronine (T3) inhibits GABA-A receptors at micromolar concentrations and has common features with neurosteroids such as allopregnanolone (ALLOP). Here we use functional experiments on α2β1γ2 GABA-A receptors expressed in Xenopus oocytes to detect competitive interactions between T3 and an agonist (ivermectin, IVM) with a crystallographically determined binding site at subunit interfaces in the transmembrane domain of a homologous receptor (glutamate-gated chloride channel, GluCl). T3 and ALLOP also show competitive effects, supporting the presence of both a T3 and ALLOP binding site at one or more subunit interfaces. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations over 200 ns are used to investigate the dynamics and energetics of T3 in the identified intersubunit sites. In these simulations, T3 molecules occupying all intersubunit sites (with the exception of the α-β interface) display numerous energetically favorable conformations with multiple hydrogen bonding partners, including previously implicated polar/acidic sidechains and a structurally conserved deformation in the M1 backbone.Peer reviewe
AIUB-GRACE-FO-operational - Operational GRACE Follow-On monthly gravity field solutions
AIUB-GRACE-FO-operational - Operational GRACE Follow-On monthly gravity field solutions Operational GRACE Follow-On monthly gravity field solutions starting from June 2018 up to degree and order 96 computed with the Celestial Mechanics Approach at AIUB. The time series is a loose continuation of AIUB-RL02 GRACE monthly gravity field time series using Level-1B GRACE Follow-On data and operational accelerometer transplant data from IfG (Institute of Geodesy, TU Graz, Working Group Theoretical Geodesy and Satellite Geodesy) and updated background models. The dataset is created within the framework of the G3P project (https://www.g3p.eu/), this project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 870353
