«IL DISCORSO DELLE CAMPANE DI SAN FEDELE» : GIUSEPPE MAROTTA TRA NAPOLI E MILANO

    No full text
Giuseppe Marotta (1902-1963) è uno scrittore italiano quasi dimenticato.

"New parameters for the sociophonetic indexes. Evidence from the Tuscan varieties of Italian"

    No full text
A sociophonetic analysis of the main phonological processes occurring in Tuscan Italian is presented within a global proposal of a new, original set of parameters of variation. After a general discussion on the sociophonetic indexes and the illustration of phonological processes occurring in the local pronuncia- tion of Italian, the parameters of the new model are metaphorically identified as properties of solids, i.e. shape, size, thickness and weight. In the last section of the paper, the sociophonetic parameters proposed are compared with the socially-marked variables proposed by Labov (2001), showing analogies and differences. The advantages derivable from the model proposed are finally dis- cussed, with the explicit acknowledgement of the need for the inspection of the phonological system in sociophonetic analysis

La insoportable levedad de la cercanía entre dos lenguas

The aim of this paper is to study some translating problems related to the proximity to Spanish and Italian languages. We will be analyzing selected texts from Italian authors Antonio Tabucchi, Alessandro Baricco and Andrea Camilleri in their translation into Spanish identifying interferences in lexicon, syntaxis, rhythm and intertextuality. For Camilleri’s texts, we’ll be working with the filmic text and its translation into Spanish subtitling version.Depto. de Estudios Románicos, Franceses, Italianos y TraducciónFac. de FilologíaInstituto Universitario de Lenguas Modernas y Traductores (IULMyT)TRUEpu

VALUE-BASED EVIDENCES TO FACE THE NEW CHALLENGES OF HEALTH PROMOTION IN A SUSTAINABLE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM

    No full text
Thirty years ago, starting from a new awareness of the limits of biomedical power and healthcare services to solve all population‟ health problems, the Ottawa Conference coined a New Public Health by defining Health Promotion (HP) as “the process of enabling people to increase control over and to improve their health and well-being”. Since then and over the next 30 years, several programs have been developed all over the world to translate HP concepts into practical actions and many health successes have been achieved as well. Nowadays, even if the global health context has strongly changed, the original principles of HP still provide a solid ground for action, being the community engagement and empowerment of women and men still at the heart of any health strategy, in a shared responsibility of all society‟s sectors approach. However, since now HP promotion efforts have been directed toward priority health problems in a issue- settings-based approach, but in a sustainable and ethical prospective this will be not enough now: a deeper attention on effectiveness is request and an evidence- and value-based HP approach is needed to support the Public Health community and the policy-making, including the new challenges related to Public Health Genomics

The importance of mechanistic studies in the development of cold plasma-based degradation of persistent organic pollutants in water

    No full text
An overview is given of major recent advancements in cold plasma-based water treatment, with specific focus on the degradation mechanisms of organic pollutants. Mechanistic insight is indeed a powerful tool for process optimization considering the treatment duration, its products, and energy costs as it provides guidelines for the design of optimized reactors and the selection of best experimental conditions. The cases considered emphasize the importance of matching the plasma composition in terms of reactive species with the reactivity of the target pollutant(s), and of identifying and understanding the reciprocal effects of different pollutants as well as those of complex aqueous matrices. Harnessing the chemistry activated by the plasma to achieve the desired goal is the key to treatment success. A general strategy is outlined for designing the best plasma experimental set-up and for predicting possible byproducts

Lending interest rate pass-through in the euro area. A data driven tale

    No full text
The harmonized MIR retail interest rates for the euro area, available as of January 2003, show remarkable differences both in levels and dynamics with the previous unharmonized NRIR rates. This evidence should suggest caution in extrapolating the findings of the NRIR-based literature on the incomplete long-run pass-through of market rates even into the short term business lending rates, the least sticky ones among bank rates. We show that long run pass-throughs for MIR rates of smaller and larger short-term business loans are almost always complete or nearly so in nine of the founding EMU countries and in Greece
