‘Tacere ultra non oportet’. Aspetti della polemica cristiana nell’Ad Demetrianum
The A. explores the opening chapters of Cyprian’s Ad Demetrianum, where we find a theme that frequently recurs in the prologue of Christian polemical works; the Christian author, when accused, hesitates whether patiently bearing the attacks and maintaining a thoughtful and dignified reserve, or entering into polemics with the opponent. The conduct of Cyprian against Demetrianus presents two distinct phases: an initial silence in front of pagan charges, supported by biblical and rational reasons, is followed by a decisive intervention when the Bishop judges no longer convenient for the Christian defense to postpone the confrontation with Demetrianus. The paper analyzes this topos in ancient literature and follows the success of the cyprianic phrase in modern polemic texts

Il digiuno di Giosuè: errore di citazione o corruzione priscillianista?
In the 'Tractatus Paschae', the first of seven tractatus forming part of the corpus of Wuerzburg attributed to Priscillian, the author exorts his community to prepare for the forthcoming Easter Day. He gives his public three exemples to follow: Moses, who fasted for forty days and forty nights and deserved the conversation with God after the passage through the Red Sea; Joshua, who entered the Promised Land with a similar fasting after the passage through the Jordan; and Jesus who, after his baptism, fasted in the desert and defeated evil. In canonical and non-canonical texts we do not find any mention of Joshua's fasting, a circumstance the author forcedly draws with the aim to place the three examples of Moses, Joashua and Jesus in his description of the combination 'fasting-baptism'
'De aleatoribus'. Per una storia delle interpretazioni
The paper offers the review of the critical studies on the ps.cyprianic 'De aleatoribus'. Under the impulse of Harnck's edition (1888) a large debate arose among scholars. Harnack suggested to ascribe the anonymous work to the pope Victor I and considered it the first Christian text in Latin language. Durin the following years many scholars took an interest in 'De aleatoribus' and put forward new theories on its author, origin and date in opposition to Harnsck's argument
Agostino contro i priscillianisti 'manichaeorum simillimi'
In the spring of 415, in a letter to Jerome, Augustine writes that he had never heard of Priscillianists until just a year before, when the Spaniard Orosius asked him to reply against this dangerous heresy.
For the period of his episcopate Augustine was occasionally engaged with Priscillian and Priscillianists, that he always describes as a shoot of the Manicheans. In this paper the Author analyzes the Augustinian texts dealing with Priscillianism, considering at first the texts whose dating is certain, later those for which the date is doubtful or
prior to 414, and tries, whenever possible, to put forward some assumptions about their chronological position in the literary production of Augustine
