No full textWe use an Adafruit AMG8833 IR Thermal Camera Breakout to continually measure surface temperature on green roofs. The actual sensor is a Panasonic 8x8 array of IR thermal individual inputs, so that you can make a 64 pixels map. This resolution is not great for thermal maps, but is enough to distinguish between different constructive solutions like ceramic tiles, substrate or vegetation, and it provides a sweet spot between expensive thermal cameras and individual IR sensors

No full textThe seemingly limitless diversity of proteins in nature arose from only a few thousand domain prototypes, but the origin of these themselves has remained unclear. We are pursuing the hypothesis that they arose by fusion and accretion from an ancestral set of peptides active as co-factors in RNA-dependent replication and catalysis. Should this be true, contemporary domains may still contain vestiges of such peptides, which could be reconstructed by a comparative approach in the same way in which ancient vocabularies have been reconstructed by the comparative study of modern languages. To test this, we compared domains representative of known folds and identified 40 fragments whose similarity is indicative of common descent, yet which occur in domains currently not thought to be homologous. These fragments are widespread in the most ancient folds and enriched for iron-sulfur- and nucleic acid-binding. We propose that they represent the observable remnants of a primordial RNA-peptide world

The author informs about the results of a historical investigation about the ancestor of Felipe Pinglo Alva, renowned author o peruvian popular music, whose waltz “El plebeyo” is emblematic of this music, and discusses and explains the origins of the surname Pinglo based on research carried out in ecclesiastical archives in the region of Piura, in northern Peru.

En este artículo se analiza cómo en su Decimatercia relación describió a los tlatoque (reyes) indígenas, en especial los texcocanos, durante la intervención de los peninsulares. Así, se reconoce que Alva Ixtlilxóchitl era muy consciente al recurrir en sus crónicas, de manera cuidadosa, al uso de términos como emperador, rey, señor y capitán, dado que tenía que ver con la legitimidad política, la cual estaba ligada con los derechos de sus propios ancestros
