Engineering interband tunneling in nanowires with diamond cubic or zincblende crystalline structure based on atomistic modeling
We present an investigation in the device parameter space of band-to-band tunneling in nanowires with a diamond cubic or zincblende crystalline structure. Results are obtained from quantum transport simulations based on Non-Equilibrium Green's functions with a tight-binding atomistic Hamiltonian. Interband tunneling is extremely sensitive to the longitudinal electric field, to the nanowire cross section, through the gap, and to the material. We have derived an approximate analytical expression for the transmission probability based on WKB theory and on a proper choice of the effective interband tunneling mass, which shows good agreement with results from atomistic quantum simulation
Innovative Accesibility Data Inventory Tools for Urban Environments in Historic Sites
: The development of the cognitive framework regarding the current performances of the historic built environment in physical accessibility plays a key role in the definition of inclusive design strategies. To this end, this paper presents the comparison between two survey methodologies: one based on an on-site investigation, and one based on a semi-automatic process, using artificial intelligence. The presentation of the two methods aims at describing the processes, underlining their potential outcomes, and the procedures for presenting and interpreting the data. The result is a set of observations to propose a strategy that integrates both the approaches, to exploit ICT in managing inclusive design processes
Labial frena and frenectomy: Clinica consideration [Frenuli labiali e frenulectomie: considerazioni cliniche]
Abstract
Frenectomy is one of the most debated topic in dentistry. Its importance is due to the occurrence of many clinical conditions where a frenum may be considered pathological. The aim of this literature review is to establish clinical indications of frenectomy according to aesthetical, functional, orthodontic and periodontal evaluations. The Authors found that many studies showed sucb different conclusions so that it was impossible to draw specific guide lines for frenectomy. The Authors conclude that literature data can help clinicians in choosing treatment but any single case must be individually evaluated

A CLP-based Functional ATPG for Extended FSMs
It is a common opinion that semi-formal verification offers a good compromise between speed and exhaustiveness. In this context, the paper presents a semi-formal functional ATPG that joins static and dynamic techniques to generate high-quality test sequences. The ATPG works on a set of concurrent extended finite state machines (EFSMs) that models the design under verification (DUV). The test generation procedure relies on backjumping, for traversing the EFSM transitions, and constraint logic programming (CLP), for covering corner cases through the deterministic propagation of functional faults observed, but not detected, during the transition traversal
