    No full text
Background: After the COVID-19 outbreak the healthcare systems all around the world found the necessity to update the ways in which health services are provided. The advent of technological progress and subsequential development of telemedicine services, had a great impact on the current evolution of healthcare services. Telemedicine is now becoming the new norm all around the world, from urban to rural areas, and for all the different healthcare fields and health providers. Scientific research is now focusing mostly on the quality of the services delivered, the creation of new technologies and which are the psychosocial factors that influence the adoption of telemedicine services for patients and providers. In this landscape composed of so many different research topics, few have investigated the role of rural areas providers on the adoption of telemedicine services inside their communities and how the technostress experienced by professionals might moderate the adoption of such services. Method: To evaluate the role of healthcare professionals in rural areas a qualitative structured interview will be conducted among the health providers (i.e. general practitioners, nurses, pharmacists) of two municipalities in the mountainous area of the Dolomites in the north of Italy. The data collection will begin in January 2024 and be completed approximately by the end of March 2024. The structured interview will investigate the following areas: current knowledge of telemedicine services, current modalities and use of telemedicine services, willingness to improve the service in daily professional activities, technology stress experienced during the use of telemedicine technologies, attitudes towards technological devices, expected acceptance of patients of these new services. Results: From the analysis of the data, we expect to find that providers who have more knowledge and are more experienced in the use of telemedicine might feel a lower technostress related to the use of these services and are more keen to propose the service and expect their patients to use it. On the contrary, we expect that professionals with low knowledge and experience about telemedicine will feel a higher technological stress related to the usage of the service and be less keen to suggest it to their patients. Conclusion: From the results obtained from the study it will be possible to expand the present knowledge on the attitudes towards telemedicine of different rural areas health professionals and it will be possible to find the physical and mental constraints that create friction in the adoption of telemedicine in these communities

The recent technological progresses in medical fields have brought to the development of telemedicine services that are now becoming the norm all around the world. The collaboration between environmental psychologists and healthcare professionals, who practice in rural areas, can bring to more efficient and comprehensive strategies to promote sustainable lifestyles and address health needs in changing climate. The aim of this paper is to investigate the role of rural areas providers on the adoption of telemedicine services inside their communities, understanding the relationship between practitioners, patients, and mountainous environment. To evaluate the role of healthcare professionals in rural areas qualitative structured interviews are being conducted among the 10 local health providers of two municipalities in the mountainous area of the Italian Dolomites. The structured interviews investigate: the current knowledge and use of telemedicine services, willingness to improve the service, expected acceptance and abilities of patients, technological knowledge, environmental benefits and constraints on the development and usage of the service. From preliminary data analysis, it emerges that providers who have more knowledge and experience in the use of telemedicine are keener to propose the service and expect their patients to use it. From further analysis, we expect to see the moderator role of technological knowledge and practical experience on the abilities of practitioners to detect environmental limits that might affect the practical application of the service and the type of patients expected abilities on the use of telemedicine. In conclusion, with this paper we aim to expand the present knowledge on the attitudes towards telemedicine of different rural areas health professionals and propose practical improvements of the service while keeping in mind the environmental characteristics of rural locations

Fil: Lezcano, Alicia Ester. EXPLORING RESTORATIVE SPACES: ATTENTION RESTORATION AND BIOPHILIC DESIGN APPLIED TO A PUBLIC PARK

    No full text
Although a large body of evidence has shown that contact with natural environments has a restorative effect on humans, there is still not a full understanding of which elements/features of nature most reinforce perceived restorativeness. Involving people in identifying these elements is essential within a Participatory Design framework. This study investigates perceptions of restorative spaces in the ‘Gole of Breggia’ Park, a protected area in Canton Ticino, Switzerland, valued for its geological, natural, and cultural significance. During a participatory design event, 51 stakeholders interested in the park’s preservation participated in seven focus groups. They are asked to identify the most restorative areas within the park and the characteristics that define them. Each group also geolocated these areas on a map to analyze their morphological and physical features. The obtained data will undergo a Content Analysis using the four dimensions of restorativeness identified by the Attention Restoration Theory (i.e., Fascination, Being-Away, Coherence, Scope) and the 15 Biophilic Design Patterns identified by Terrapin Bright Green (divided into Nature in Space, Nature Analogues, and Nature of the Space) as categories of analysis. This approach will allow us to determine which factors described by the two theoretical frameworks occur most frequently among the participants' responses and verify whether the same factors characterize clusters of restorative places. The findings will be shared with stakeholders to refine strategies for enhancing the park’s restorative potential. The findings highlight how participation approaches can inform strategies for valorizing natural spaces, fostering alignment between theoretical constructs and practical applications

La perspectiva epistemológica de la tesis se apoya en los conceptos de: sujeto del inconsciente (Lacan, 1964,1966/2014), transferencia (Freud, 1917, Lacan, 1960-1961), RSI (Lacan, 1953), posiciones enunciativas (Lacan, 1966/2014, Mannoni, 1972/2020, Lefort, 1953-1954, Savio, 2017), síntoma analítico (Lacan, 1962-1963), mundo-escena, acto y acting-out (Lacan, 1962-1963) y duelo (Lacan, 1958-1959/2014, Chatel, 1994, Fidacaro, 2014).Research that explores the function of historicization in psychoanalysis (Aulagnier, 1977) and the productivity of this notion in its practical effects in the clinic, through the reading of a published psychoanalytic case. The notion of historicization is considered as the production of the singular historical plot articulated in different subjective positionings that arise in the narrative in transfer. It is a language experience that allows the rewriting and mobilization of meanings, in the manner of an open text that transforms itself and transforms the subject. A reading is proposed in the key of historicization through the utterances and productions of the subject in analysis, as a means to point out possible effects of clinical work, effects such as symbolization, resignification, mourning and transformation. The methodology is formulated through reading and writing operations in psychoanalysis (Cancina, 2005, Aulagnier, 1984, Allouch et al.), located within the framework of the case construction methodology in psychoanalysis. The epistemological perspective of the thesis is supported by the concepts of: subject of the unconscious (Lacan, 1964,1966/2014), transference (Freud, 1917, Lacan, 1960-1961), RSI (Lacan, 1953), enunciative positions (Lacan, 1966/2014, Mannoni, 1972/2020, Lefort, 1953-1954, Savio, 2017), analytical symptom (Lacan, 1962-1963), world-scene, act and acting-out (Lacan, 1962-1963) and mourning (Lacan, 1958-1959/2014, Chatel, 1994, Fidacaro, 2014)

Students’ perceived restorativeness of university environment: the validation of the Rest@U scale

    No full text
University students are likely to encounter mental health issues throughout their educational journey. Among the various factors that can impact students’ wellbeing, the physical environment can potentially restore cognitive, physiological, and emotional resources, thereby enhancing academic performance, and overall quality of life, while reducing feelings of stress and depression. The Perceived Restorativeness Scale is the most commonly used tool to assess the level of restorativeness derived from the educational physical environment. However, a tailored measure could be a more psychometrically suitable approach to capture the context-specific characteristics of university environments for academic students. This study aimed to validate an instrument that can accurately evaluate university spaces to measure the perceived restorativeness of university students. A total sample of 685 students from two Italian universities participated in the evaluation of the psychometric properties of the Restorativeness at University scale (Rest@US), consisting of 13 items divided into four dimensions: fascination, being-away, scope, and coherence. The hypothesised four-factor model (being-away, fascination, scope, and coherence) demonstrated excellent fit indices in both the calibration and validation samples and was invariant for sex. The scale demonstrates good reliability. Furthermore, criterion validity has been confirmed, highlighting that, in a theoretically consistent manner, the perceived restorativeness of university physical environments from the point of view of students and its dimensions were negatively correlated with techno-overload and study-related workload and positively correlated with perceived performance and psycho-physical wellbeing
