Effects of extremely low frequency and radiofrequency electromagnetic fields on circadian rhythms of some blood parameters in Sprague-Dawley rats
Extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields (ELFEMF-50 Hz) and radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RFEMF-1.8GHz) are the principle source of "electro smog" in modern society and people exposure is increasing year after year, even if there are no certainties about their health effects. Therefore the aim of this study is to investigate the biological effects of electromagnetic fields on the circadian rhythms of three blood parameters of the energetic metabolism:glycaemia, total cholesterol and triglycerides in Sprague-Dawley rats. The study was carried on 36 rats exposed to ELFEMF-50 Hz and 36 rats exposed to RFEMF-1.8 GHz. The results of this study highlight that electromagnetic fields could interact with the biological clock changing the physiological rhythmicity of glycaemia, trygliceridhaemia and cholestrolhaemia in rats and potentially in human too after long term exposur

POLARIZED SEA MEASUREMENTS AT JPARC
Large double spin-asymmetries can be foreseen for Drell-Yan production in pp scattering at JPARC energies. The sign of the asymmetries can be used to discriminate between different model calculation of sea quark distributions
TRANSVERSITY 2008 Proceedings of the Second Workshop on Transverse Polarization Phenomena in Hard Processes
Transversity 2008, the second workshop on Transverse polarization phenomena in hard processes, follows the first one held in Como after three years. As in that case, the event comes at the end of a two-years project financed by the Italian Ministry of Education. In the time between the two Workshops, decisive steps towards the revealing of the transverse spin structure of the proton were taken on both the theoretical and experimental sides. The milestone of the first extraction of Transversity and the Sivers function for the u- and d-quarks deserves a special mention. In the same period, historic experiments that in the last decade contributed to the first pioneering measurements in the SIDIS sector, have concluded their data taking, and their place is being taken by upgrades of existing or new facilities. These are the result of the new interesting phenomena which are appearing and call for additional experimental information and novel experimental techniques. Over 80 physicists took part in the Workshop. Equally involved were experimentalists and theoreticians engaged in investigating the nature of transverse spin. The heterogeneous public favoured vivid discussions and fruitful exchange of up-to-date theoretical and experimental ideas on this constantly evolving subject
A HIGH INTENSITY COLD SUPERCONDUCTING JET POLARIZED TARGET
A proposed Atomic beam source with superconducting magnets in theory can provide higher intensity in atomic beam. Investigation on the formation, attenuation, focalization of different source is performed in order to provide a tools to find the right way to fulfill the requirement for more intense nuclear targets
PST 2009 XIIIth International Workshop on Polarized Sources, Targets & Polarimetry
he International Workshop on Polarized Sources, Targets & Polarimetry, which is sponsored by the International Spin Physics Committee, has been hosted for more than 20 years, regularly circulating between the USA, Europe and Japan. Although dedicated Meetings exist for some of the fields covered, the Workshop is meant to give a general, but comprehensive view of the technology involved in the polarization experiments and applications, encouraging discussions and exchange of informations between the different fields. To this aim the program will foresee round-table discussions on the basic limitations of the various polarization techniques and possible paths for future progress. Visibility will be given to new ideas and proposals.
The topics of the Workshop will include:
- Polarized Electron Sources
- Polarized Proton and Deuterium Sources
- Polarized Internal Targets
- Polarized 3He Ion Sources and Targets
- Polarimetry (e, p, d) at Low and High Energy
- Polarized antiprotons
- Polarized Solid Target

Round Table on the Antiproton source. Status of the art and future program in the mainframe of PAX and Fermila
The Field Mapping at Low Temperature of a NbTi Setupole
The next generation of polarized high energy physics experiments at accelerators employing internal targets requires a significant increase in density of the target. In an atomic beam source electron polarization is obtained from Stern-Gerlach separation by sextupole magnets and then transferred to nuclei by means of RF transitions. The Università di Ferrara and INFN group is developing a new ABS characterized by a high intensity beam, using superconducting sextupoles instead of a permanent magnet system. The field mapping of a NbTi sextupole performed in Ferrara at low temperature and full current is presented. A dedicated test bench was employed for the low temperature field map in the Ferrara laboratory
A Bulk Superconducting Magnetic System for the CLAS12 Target at Jefferson Lab
A feasibility study of a bulk magnetic system for the target of an
experiment to measure the transverse spin effects in semi-inclusive deep
inelastic scattering (SIDIS) at 11 GeV with a transversely polarized
target using the CLAS12 detector is presented. An experiment has been
approved with the highest priority rating to study spin azimuthal
asymmetries in SIDIS using 11-GeV polarized electron beams from the
upgraded CEBAF facility and the CLAS12 detector equipped with a
transversely polarized target. The transverse target in CLAS12 requires
the shielding of a volume inside the longitudinal field of the main
solenoid. In the shielded region, a transverse targetmagnet can operate;
for the proposed magnetic configuration, the main solenoid maximum
magnetic induction is 2 T. A bulk MgB2 cylinder cooled in liquid helium
is proposed both to shield the longitudinal field of the main solenoid
and to provide a transverse field induction up to 1.2 T for the hydrogen
deuteride ice (HD-ice) target. The installation and magnetization
procedure will be described: The magnetization procedure has to be
compatible with the polarization and installation procedure of the
HD-ice target. The design of a test bench to measure the transverse
magnetization of a MgB2 bulk cylinder cooled by a coldhead is presented
together with the scheduled measurements
