Microvertex detectors, present trends and future perspectives
The need of resolving complex track configurations and reconstructing vertices in modern high energy experiments is conveying a growing effort into the design of a relatively young item, called microvertex detector.
The microvertex detector is obtained by arranging several position sensitive units of high spatial resolution in a suitable geometric configuration.
The present paper aims at reviewing different structures of microvertex detectors that are already operating in fixed target experiments or that are being designed for future colliders.
The constraints they have to cope with, the implemented functions, the accuracy achievable, the readout employed and the impact of radiation damage on their behaviour will be critically analyzed. Possibilities opened up by new position-sensing elements will be investigated. The use of micro-vertex detectors in future experiments at large hadron colliders will also be considered and the constraints arising from these peculiar applications will be discussed
Elefanti, serpenti e bachi da seta : riflessioni su qualche aspetto del repertorio zoologico ambrosiano
The author studies some aspects of the christianization of ancient zoological knowledg
Leo gallum et maxime album veretur. Tracce della dottrina delle simpatie e antipatie naturali nell’"Exameron" di Ambrogio
The author argues that Ambrose possibly knew of pseudo-Democritus' work
Ambrose’s letters: sermones absentium?
The author investigates some linguistic features of Ambrose's letters, in order to demonstrate their (apparent) low degree of literarity
Osservazioni sulla lingua dell'epistolario ambrosiano
The author deals with word order in verbal phrases, as a possible clue of orality in Ambrose' letters
Sativus e insitivus: due tecnicismi in Ambrogio?
The author focuses on some lexical aspects of the language of the works of Ambrose of Mila
Linguistic otherness in Jerome's epistolary praises of holy women
Praises of holy women in Jerome's letters show deep appreciation of their alleged culture and multilingualism. The author deals with the (classical) origin and (Christian) meaning of that theme
Cicero in Ambrose’s De officiis and letters
The author examines the phenomenon of 'competing exempla' in Ambrose's De officis and in his model, as such a survey might shed light on the expected audience/readership of the Ambrosian treatise
Di nuovo sulla fortuna di un termine “agricolo”: seminarium
The author studies the presence of agriculture technical language in some works of Ambrose of Mila
