Integración de minorías en Europa. La propuesta de Elham Manea
Some points of analysis are offered in this work in order to understand if the cultural integration of the minorities
in Europe is possible, in particular that of Muslim women who live in the West under the law based on the Koran,
the Sharia. The proposal of Elham Manea is analyzed - in which she defends that trying to adapt some parts of
the Sharia would leave the vulnerable even more vulnerable - and compared with other opinions, some of which
are more inclined to accept this adaptation. It ends with a thought on the most worthy way to integrate the
migrant respecting their human rights and those of the host country.
The perils of nonviolent islamism
Elham Manea's The Perils of Nonviolent Islamism describes the ways in which nonviolent forms of Islamist fundamentalism in European democracies lay the groundwork for Islamist terrorism. Through a persuasive mixture of autobiography, explanatory frameworks, case studies, personal interviews, and careful readings of source material, Manea details how Islamist groups have exploited the openness of democracies and multiculturalist attitudes in order to create closed Islamist communities. These groups today are transforming Islam in the West into a unified fundamentalist religion that ultimately promotes attitudes that lead to violence. Combining keen social theoretical analysis with critical self-reflection, Manea's interrogation of Islamism sounds the alarm on a crisis that can no longer be ignored

Women and Shari'a law: the impact of legal pluralism in the UK
In response to recent media controversy and public debate about legal pluralism and multiculturalism, Manea argues against what she identifies as the growing tendency for people to be treated as 'homogenous groups' in Western academic discourse, rather than as individuals with authentic voices. Building on her knowledge of the situation for women in Middle Eastern and Islamic countries, she undertakes first-hand analysis of the Islamic shari'a councils and Muslim arbitration tribunals in various British cities. Based on meetings with the leading sheikhs - including the only woman on their panels - as well as interviews with experts on extremism, lawyers and activists in civil society and women's rights groups, Manea offers an impassioned critique of legal pluralism, connecting it with political Islam and detailing the lived experiences of women in Muslim communities
Coupled adjoint aerostructural wing optimization using quasi-three-dimensional aerodynamic analysis
This paper presents a method for wing aerostructural analysis and optimization, which needs much lower computational costs, while computes the wing drag and structural deformation with a level of accuracy comparable to the higher fidelity CFD and FEM tools. A quasi-threedimensional aerodynamic solver is developed and connected to a finite beam element model for wing aerostructural optimization. In a quasi-three-dimensional approach an inviscid incompressible vortex lattice method is coupled with a viscous compressible airfoil analysis code for drag prediction of a three dimensional wing. The accuracy of the proposed method for wing drag prediction is validated by comparing its results with the results of a higher fidelity CFD analysis. The wing structural deformation as well as the stress distribution in the wingbox structure is computed using a finite beam element model. The Newton method is used to solve the coupled system. The sensitivities of the outputs, for example the wing drag, with respect to the inputs, for example the wing geometry, is computed by a Ali Elham [email protected] Michel J. A gradient based optimization is performed using the proposed tool for minimizing the fuel weight of an A320 class aircraft. The optimization resulted in more than 10 % reduction in the aircraft fuel weight by optimizing the wing planfor
