    Quasi-twilled associative algebras, deformation maps and their governing algebras

    A quasi-twilled associative algebra is an associative algebra A\mathbb{A} whose underlying vector space has a decomposition A=AB\mathbb{A} = A \oplus B such that BAB \subset \mathbb{A} is a subalgebra. In the first part of this paper, we give the Maurer-Cartan characterization and introduce the cohomology of a quasi-twilled associative algebra. In a quasi-twilled associative algebra A\mathbb{A}, a linear map D:ABD: A \rightarrow B is called a strong deformation map if Gr(D)A\mathrm{Gr}(D) \subset \mathbb{A} is a subalgebra. Such a map generalizes associative algebra homomorphisms, derivations, crossed homomorphisms and the associative analogue of modified {\sf r}-matrices. We introduce the cohomology of a strong deformation map DD unifying the cohomologies of all the operators mentioned above. We also define the governing algebra for the pair (A,D)(\mathbb{A}, D) to study simultaneous deformations of both A\mathbb{A} and DD. On the other hand, a linear map r:BAr: B \rightarrow A is called a weak deformation map if Gr(r)A\mathrm{Gr} (r) \subset \mathbb{A} is a subalgebra. Such a map generalizes relative Rota-Baxter operators of any weight, twisted Rota-Baxter operators, Reynolds operators, left-averaging operators and right-averaging operators.     A prospective randomised clinical trial of prophylactic antibiotic in caesarean delivery and fetomaternal outcome

    Background: Infectious maternal and perinatal morbidities are 5 to 20 times more in caesarean section when compared to vaginal births. Objective of present study was to assess the rates of maternal and neonatal infectious morbidities following administration of antibiotic before skin incision compared to given after umbilical cord clamping during caesarean delivery.Methods: 185 pregnant women with gestational periods more than 34 weeks who were prepared for caesarean delivery, randomized to single dose antibiotic given either before skin incision (study group) or after umbilical cord clamping (control group). Primary outcome measures: maternal postoperative infections morbidities. Secondary outcome measures: neonatal infections morbidities with Sick Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) admissions and postoperative hospital stay of mother.Results: Surgical Site Infections (SSI) and postoperative fever were significantly less in the study group than the control group so also the lesser incidences of endometritis but no statistically significant difference in the incidence of peritonitis and wound dehiscence were observed in both groups. No significant differences were seen in neonatal infectious morbidities and SNCU admission when compared in both groups. There was significantly less mean postoperative hospital stay of mothers in the group who received prophylactic antibiotic pre-incision.Conclusions: Antibiotic given 30-60 minutes before skin incision significantly decreases maternal postoperative infectious morbidities barring neonate.</jats:p

    An approach towards optimization of the extraction of polyphenolic antioxidants from ginger (Zingiber officinale)

    The present study aims to maximize the extraction of polyphenols from ginger (Zingiber officinale) through the statistical optimization of three influential process parameters ethanol (EtOH) proportion (%), temperature (°C) and extraction time (min). Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was employed to design experiments and study the interaction effects of these parameters on the extraction process. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used for the analysis of regression coefficient, prediction of equation and case statistics. The optimum conditions for the maximum yield of polyphenols from each gram of ginger were found to be 75 % aqueous EtOH, 40 °C temperature and extraction time of 60 min respectively. The order of relative importance of these three parameters was: EtOH > time > temperature. Antioxidant activity of the extracted polyphenols using optimized parameters was also determined by DPPH assay. DPPH radical scavenging activity of ginger extract was compared with Vitamin C and butyl hydroxy toluene (BHT). Finally, this study revealed a cost effective analytical model to maximize the extraction of polyphenols from ginger with higher antioxidant activity. It was also concluded that at lower concentration ethanolic extract of ginger possess high antioxidant activity in comparison with synthetic antioxidants like vitamin C or BHT and thus it can be applicable as potent natural antioxidant in food and pharmaceutical industries for the preparation of functional food
