    No full text
The aim of this paper is to present archival discoveries made, among others, by the author in the Archives of the Metropolitan Curia in Cracow. The discoveries concern the manuscript of Karol Wojtyła, and are connected to his work on the postdoctoral thesis. This discovery was also presented in the context of its possible influence on the study of Wojtyła’s philosophy, based on Etienne Gilson’s conception of the method of studying the history of philosophy (the necessity of considering the whole of thought in the context of its individual elements, the context of impersonal necessity, etc.)

The dubious role of Mgr Umberto Benigni in Poland can be seen here in his intrigues in favour of Russia when this latter was persecuting the Uniats. The most important Polish members of the Sapinière integrist network are : Count Jules Ostrowski, Canon Majewski in Wilno, Father Kajewski, vicar in Moscow. These integrists denounce Countess Cécile Plater-Zyber, the famous educator, the future Cardinal Adam Sapieka, and Father Matulajtis-Matulewicz, who will be beatified by Pope John-Paul II. Mgr Hlond, made cardinal in 1926, will succeed in appeasing this bitter intra-Catholic fighting. Gorski Karol. L'intégrisme en Pologne. No full text
W artykule dokonano analizy działalności Zespołu Parków Krajobrazowych Województwa Małopolskiego (ZPKWM) w zakresie edukacji i rozwoju turystyki. W szczególności realizują zajęcia tematyczne, głównie w szkołach oraz w terenie, prowadzą ośrodki i ścieżki dydaktyczne, serwisy internetowe i działalność wydawniczą. The article analyzes activity in the landscape parks of Małopolska Voivodeship in terms of education and tourism development. The empirical part of the article consists of two components: (1) analysis of the activities undertaken by the landscape parks, carried out on the basis of materials obtained from their joint management and interviews with its employees; (2) presentation of residents’, tourists’ and local authorities’ opinions on these activities collected through questionnaire surveys. Landscape parks conduct educational activity which is closely related to activities in the field of tourism development. These include conducting thematic classes - mainly taking place in schools and less often in the field, maintaining educational centers, educational trails and websites, as well as publishing materials. The functioning of landcape parks is supported both by local residents and tourists, although the parks as an institution are only poorly recognized. The high declared interest in participating in educational initiatives (especially in tours) and the support for local governments create favorable conditions for the development of Małopolska Voivodeship’s landscape park activity.Publikacja została sfinansowana ze środków subwencji przyznanej Uniwersytetowi Ekonomicznemu w Krakowie, umowa nr 51/GGG/2020/POT

Is Hondius or Schultz the Author of the Portrait Study of Karol Ferdynand Vasa?

Standing face to face with a civil war and a danger of destabilisation of the country, King Jan Kazimierz decided that a change in his official iconography was so important that almost immediately after succeeding to the throne (1648) he reorganised his artistic court. In 1649 the outstanding portrait painter Daniel Schultz was employed and he was charged with the task of creating the image of the monarch that would be suitable for the requirements of the new authorities' propaganda and at the same time would meet the society's expectations. (It was for the same reasons that the great Roman sculptor Francesco Rossi was brought to Poland in 1651.) Of the former group of artists among others Willem Hondius was kept – as it turns out not a very able draughtsman, but a good copper engraver, who proved useful in his earlier works for the royal court, and now was indispensable for putting into effect Jan Kazimierz's propaganda aims. Analysing the portrait study of the King's brother, Karol Ferdynand Vasa (1650) from the collection of the National Museum in Gdańsk (Fig. 1), Gajewski finds in it both new principles of the art of portrait introduced into the official image by Daniel Schultz, and the artistic qualities characteristic of Schultz's painting (Fig. 2, 3). Gajewski challenges the proposition put forward in the literature of the subject saying that it is Hondius who is the author of the portrait study of Karol Ferdynand, and he claims that the author of the study is Schultz. He also thinks that the study is Schultz's drawing for the graphic portrait of Karol Ferdynand Vasa that was not used. The portrait was made (1650) by Hondius after another pattern by Daniel Schultz (Fig. 4)

The article is a critical edition of the memoirs of Karol Monné, a figure of great merit for Przemyśl, city councilor, railway inspector, a participant of the January Uprising, member of many associations and institutions, finally father of Wanda Monné – poet, translator and sculptor, fiancée of artist Artur Grottger. This document, never published before, is a valuable source of information about Karol Monné’s youth, the circumstances in which he got his education, his social and professional activities before he settled permanently in Przemyśl, and above all, his failed marriage to Wanda’s mother – Kordula Wentz. The author pays particular attention to Joanna Przybysławska, with whom Karol became involved after parting with Kordula, as well as to his children from that relationship. The published source can be treated as an important contribution to the biography of Karol Monné, which has not yet been developed

Gleichheit der Rechte und Pflichten im Denken Karol Wojtyłas

In his chief work Person and act concerning the transcendent virtue of natural ethical norms, the author, Cardinal Karol Wojtyła, stresses the autonomous decision of the single person and thereby his own responsibility. This results in a deepened comprehension of what freedom of the human being really means. Only the conception of a balance between rights and duties of man will protect our own freedom and dignity. In Cardinal Wojtyła´s philosophy we can implicitly find the current answer to the problem of equality, which can´t be solved without the transcendent outlook. The article is limited to three parts: 1. Sources of Karol Wojtyła´s philosophy; 2. The role of conscience as legislator for the person; 3. Equality of rights and duties as moral imperative of human acts. We can describe Karol Wojtyła´s thinking as an emphasizing on the transcendent perspective as well as an equal estimation of responsibility compared to rights and liberties. Karol Wojtyła´s philosophy gives us a current answer to present challenges also concerning the problem of equality, which can´t be solved without transcendent outlook. In his chief work Person and act concerning the transcendent virtue of natural ethical norms, the author, Cardinal Karol Wojtyła, stresses the autonomous decision of the single person and thereby his own responsibility.
